We have never been to the restaurant before, but we definitely would eat there again! Servers were a little backed up with a large reunion going on, but they made sure to check on us as much as they could. We started with nacho fries and they were delicious! Then we all had a combination of dinner plates and items from the bar menu. Everything was very good! I had the marinated flank steak with Gorgonzola mashed potatoes and it was one of the best steaks I have had in awhile and cooked to a perfect medium rare.

It is the only option here at the resort. Ordered the chicken burger and received a chicken and thigh complete with bones on the burger bun. But it was the smallest chicken bones I’ve ever seen… Maybe it was a game hen? Either way it was completely raw inside. The two stoners who brought out our food were a spectacular addition to the experience. Really, really sad considering what a gold mine they have here. We have stayed at many similar ski resorts and this is by far the worst in food. Best in summer activities but BYO.

This is basically the only dining establishment in Purgatory. We’d never been, so we actually made a reservation on OpenTable. Definitely not necessary. We mistakenly thought that this was an actual restaurant. It’s actually just the ski lodge cafeteria, turned into a dining room by putting tableclothes on the tables. That being said, the menu is pretty limited. We had the bruschetta as an appy – pretty good. I had the chicken fajitas(pretty standard), and my friend had the fish and chips. All in all, it was passable. The funny thing is that when we came in the next day for a lunch break, we noticed that all the same stuff was available in the cafeteria for lunch.

The inflated food prices didn’t live up to expectations. Everything our group tried was overpriced and really not good… My friend and I ordered the bison burger. I specifically asked for the burger to be «pinkish/red» in the center. My friend ordered medium. Both of the burgers came out well done. The server handled the situation appropriately though, she knew the burgers were completely over-cooked and got us new ones. For bonus points though, she comped us on one of the burgers The service started out extremely poor and then the server redeemed herself when she comped the burger. The server disappeared after we placed our orders. Waters weren’t refilled until after our 2nd burger came out, come on!

Stayed at a condo at the resort over Labor Day weekend which was fine however ate at Purgy’s Restaurant the evening we arrived and both my wife and I got sick from the Chicken Ceasar salad. not sure if it was from the lettuce or the dressing but it was definitely caused from the food at the restaurant. I would not recommend eating at this restaurant. Make the drive to Durango and you’ll find a much better selection of foods that did not make us sick from the food.

I ordered the Chicken sandwich, which was pretty good, but way overpriced at $ 15(with avocado and green chilis). The server was very polite and did a good job taking our orders. My husband’s bison burger was overcooked and that ran $ 16. All in all, the service was good, the food was okay, but the price was way too high. Could’ve had a better chicken sandwich at a Chick-fil-a for a fraction of the cost!

Stopped in for lunch while skiing for the day. Their hamburgers were $ 9! And they were not gourmet burgers at all. The lettuce, onions, and tomatoes are complimentary, but you have to ask for them, or they won’t be included. Cheese is an additional dollar, and fries an extra $ 3. Most expensive basic burgers ever. Perhaps the only nice thing about the place is that one afternoon we were there they had live music to listen to, which the non-skiers in our group did while we were on the mountain. Eat at Paradise Pizzeria across the way instead, or bring your own lunch.

Cheeseburger was pre cooked and heated over grill. Bartender was very rude and had cold sore. You have to eat outside until 5pm. Recommend to look for another place to eat . Not family friendly. They are encouraging people to sit outside by the bar to order drinks. Indoor opens after 5 pm They obviously don’t care about quality and service. The bartender looked like a garage mechanic ! Stay away!

Great little bar at the base of the mountain and Sweet! they serve SKA beers and wine. We finally came during the summer months and it’s still open. DMR still has summer events so Purgy’s stays open. John was our server and awesome, attentive even got our dogs some water on the roc

Nice on-site restaurant for the Durango ski lodge. Our lodge room came with complete kitchen, but it was a nice option to be able to walk downstairs and get full service after a long day at the slopes. The service was fast and friendly, and food selection is good. Although they recommend reservations to ensure there isn’t a wait, we went in on Saturday night for dinner and it wasn’t the least crowded. There is tons of seating inside and out, just not a big wait staff. Prices for full entrees were a bit high, $ 18-$ 30 range for a dinner plate… But they also have starters and side plates that may work as a meal for lighter eaters. The chicken wings were tasty and more than enough to satisfy as a meal. The food is pretty good – my son raved about their soup and my salad was nice and fresh(not the wilty mess you sometimes get). My other sons hotdog looked pretty bland, but he promptly devoured it so it couldn’t have been too bad. Overall we were all satisfied and would eat there again.

We ate here for both breakfast and dinner and wouldn’t go back if someone paid me. Imagine the absolute minimum amount of work a restaurant would have to do to stay in business, and you’ve got Purgy’s. FOOD: The food — when it’s available — is TERRIBLE. They were out of chicken wings and chili at dinner — they were out of chicken fried steak for breakfast. You can’t even order eggs to order because they only serve powdered scrambled«eggs» that were inedible. For dinner our burgers were ok but overpriced. SERVICE: Again, bare minimum. At dinner there were only two other parties in the dining room so we sat ourselves at a table by the window and the server told us we had to move to another table because the one we selected wasn’t set. Why he couldn’t set the table we selected is beyond me. Then we were told that if we want to dine in the future we needed to make reservations(again, we were one of three parties — the restaurant was empty. Now I know why…) I just kept reminding myself that if the servers were any good they wouldn’t be working at Purgy’s. If you stay at Durango Mountain Resort, bring groceries and cook your own food.

Good food, the wait staff can get a little overwhelmed on weekends at lunchtime. If your in a hurry just bring your own lunch & eat at the«Beach».

Amazing food and such nice servers! We would have come way more often if it hadnt been closed for a few days. My whole family has been there twice and all ordered different things. not a single person was dissapointed. In fact, we were all enamored! I personally had the french dip which has very little fat and a delicious toasted bun which was perfect for the cold weather. I also tried the village salad and It has just the right proportions of everything including creamy peppered goat cheese, craisins, and almonds with a raspberry dressing. All of the pastas were delicous according to my brother but the portions are all very good sized; I was able to just barely finish my whole plate. The wait staff on both occasions could not have been more friendly and quick. During the summer the view of the mountain and quaking aspens is phenomenal and I’m sure its just as beautiful during the winter. The dining room is large and open, perfect for large groups or families but also have some cute smaller booths. The atmosphere is very cabin-like with tree cross sections on the walls and a large fireplace keeps it very cozy. This restaurant is highly recommended! You will not be dissapointed.

We are staying at Durango mountain resort and decided to come here instead of driving Into town. The waiter was upbeat and gave a great drink recommendation. I ordered the watermelon arugula salad. It was delicious. My husband ordered the fish tacos and they were just as good. We sat by the window and had a great time. We would definitely recommend this place.

We ate at Purgy’s while staying as guests at the Durango Mountain Resort. It’s their on-site restaurant and the setting is spectacular right at the base of the ski slopes. I am imagining that the spacious patio is the perfect place to enjoy an apres ski drink in the winter, as it gets great sun and has amazing views. We sat outside to enjoy the summer evening and it was a great place to sit with our little toddler who wanted to run all over the grass and chase his ball and frisbee — which didn’t bother our server who was able to keep us updated on our food while we chased the little guy around. The food was okay — not great — but they did have a good selection of local beers on tap which made us feel better about skipping the 30 minute drive to Durango in hopes of enjoying a local microbrew. Our server was so-so, but I was eavesdropping on another server who did a great job selling their food(he told his patrons a bunch of stuff we weren’t told that surely would have up-sold me — like the meats are all locally raised…) and I’m guessing depending on the server and depending on the day I could have given more stars easily. The prices are high — but it was worth the convenience of not having to drive down the mountain to Durango for dinner and being able to let our little guy run around instead of flop around in a high chair as he would have in a different setting!
