Hit the spot and you can’t beat the price. The biscuits and gravy were HUGE! We ordered tons of food for 8 people. The portions were so big we couldn’t even finish it all.

This is a true diner. Small bar seating area, very friendly waitress, great food made to order. Open early, 6am.

I wanted to love this place. It screams authentic old school diner and we were really hungry for old school diner food. The waitress was very friendly and shared the specials of the day. I got the bacon, Swiss and mushroom omelet and my husband got old school eggs and bacon. The food came fast and the waitress kept our drinks filled up. So far, no complaints. Then, our food came. The hash browns were burned on the outside, raw on the inside. Grease was everywhere and my husbands eggs were overdone, too. My omelet was good, but that was the one edible thing on two plates. Meh. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, maybe they were having an off day. We won’t be back.

Ridiculously huge portions of very well-prepared diner food. Good thing this place isn’t where I live!

I find that family owned — homemade — hole in the wall places are always the best, which proves to be true with this gem. After a night on the town, my parents, fiancé and I were in need of a yummy solid breakfast we decided on Durango Diner — and sure glad we did! Here’s why: STAR1 = Located right on main street, its hard to miss this place! apparently it’s a town favorite, so we were lucky we got a spot! The place fills up quick, but even a seat at the counter is a good one :) STAR2 = Staff is amazingly friendly. We spoke with the owner — who has owned the joint since the 1970’s — who still enjoys her job. servers are all college students from Fort Lewis College and ultra friendly and talkative. One server and I got on the topic of our shared major– communications! STAR3 = HOLYHEAPINGPILEOFFOOD! the food is amazingly delicious and fresh. 3 of us noshed oh the«kitchen sink» which was an omelet stuffed with all things yummy, smothered in their famous green chilie — which is to DIEFOR! mmmm! portions are huge, so come hungry or split any entrée for just $ 1.50 more. STAR4 = Prices are insanely reasonable for everything you get! our bill was a cool $ 45 for coffee and 4 entrees! STAR5 = The atmosphere here feels very down home and welcoming. Although it’s easily crowded and the space is small, it offers a very relaxed and homey place to enjoy your breakfast :)

Very nice breakfast spot. A tad claustrophobic because of the narrow space but that’s also cool so…

Came here because in really wanted breakfast and apparently Durango has some kind of thing against people trying to get breakfast after 11. We Sat at the counter. The waitresses was adequate. I feel like she was kind of lagging on some things, like bringing us coffee and other stuff. I watched her chat with her friends and eat some chips. The food portions were huge!!! The steak, and eggs was good. My boo hit a giant burrito which I think tried to kill his stomach and some point later in the day. But alas. It’s diner food, sooooo yes a-ok. Nothing fancy.

Great breakfast, I had the ½-n-½ biscuits and gravy. Large biscuit with sausage gravy on one side and green chili on the other with an egg on top. We ride our motorcycles in to Durango every year on our way to the IAFF Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Colorado Springs and this will be our go-to breakfast stop from now on.

Lucky enough to walk in and find seats at Durango Diner! I have tried to have breakfast here on a couple occasions and have been unable to due to the wait. We walked right in and found two seats! I love the feel of this diner, it’s old-school and you get to watch food being cooked and waiters running around. We ordered a sausage omelet, a side of French toast, and the French bread breakfast sandwich with sausage and eggs. My omelet was pretty good and I l enjoyed their hashbrowns a lot! My boyfriend liked his French toast and breakfast sandwich. We got all three plates plus two coffees for about $ 30. Service was excellent; my coffee cup was always full. The owner was a sweetheart and very friendly.

Pancakes are the size of a platter! Homemade corned beef hash was delicious and a huge slab of hash browns was served along side. Friendly staff in a traditional diner, with reasonable prices. A nice find in this small town.

Everyone told me to try it. I had really high hopes however my dreams we’re crushed when my hash browns were still raw and my pancakes were burned, I would have asked for a replacement but I didn’t want to agitate the waiting staff as they were already frustrated from a busy morning, besides I already seemed like an ungrateful jerk for asking about a second cup of coffee. I paid, then left, hungry and sad…

Green Chili Overdose Durango Diner has been around for many years. The boss must really like John Wayne since there are a bunch of photos of «The Duke» everywhere. Service is casual and friendly as you would expect in a diner. We had eaten a lot of green chili as we traveled around New Mexico in the previous weeks. So we were looking forward to the Durango Diner and their claims of great green chili. Two of us got the green chili cheeseburger. In New Mexico we were used to a small amount of green chili on the burger to give it a great kick. At the Durango Diner they serve the hamburger open-faced with a huge ladle of soupy green chili sauce over everything. The bun is immediately turned to an unpleasant mush. The accompanying fries were greasy. The third person in our party got scrambled eggs with green chili. She had the sense to ask for the chili on the side. It was another huge serving of the same watery, soupy sauce. The scrambled eggs were fine. Maybe that’s just the way they serve it in Colorado. But we won’t be returning to the Durango Diner.

The Green Chili Burrito was HUGE and really good. The service was quick & witty. All in all, it was a good meal for a reasonable price.

Another great Durango find! Our motel suggested this as «the best breakfast in town» so we figured, why not? It’s on the main avenue and it’s small. Basically a long counter and a couple small booths in the back. Not that that is a problem. We sat at the counter and you can tell it’s a place where locals come regularly. Everyone seemed to know each other. But we didn’t feel out of place as visitors. I liked that the«kitchen» is right in front of you. We enjoyed watching the rhythm the cook had. Pour batter. Flip bacon. Flip hashbrowns. Flip pancake. Repeat. Our server was friendly. The food came fast. And it was a great breakfast. My bf had the pancake, singular, because they are the size of dinner plates. I had the biscuits and gravy. Let me tell you about that. Just a couple days prior I was saying even though it’s my favorite, I never get biscuits and gravy from restaurants because A: the biscuits are usually shitty pillsbury grands biscuits. B: the gravy is often from a package and C: it can’t compete with mine. But I saw the biscuits they use and they looked homemade and delicious, so I thought, why not? Let’s take a chance. Glad I did! The biscuits were as good as they looked and the gravy was either homemade or the best packaged one I’ve ever had. I still prefer mine but as far as a restaurant goes, this was great! Definitely recommend!

What a gem! We stumbled upon this spot and obviously we could tell this is locals popular spot. A classic«diner» like the ones you would see on sitcoms, people reading newspaper at the counter, staff know their regulars… The cook worked tirelessly and efficiently, handling many plates at a time. WHOMAKESHASHBROWNSBYSHREDDINGFRESHPOTATOESINTHEGRILL? They do! Yum! They made my daughter’s Mickey pancake that totally made her day!(They care about how perfect their food is so much that they threw away the first masterpiece and redid it to their liking) We gobbled up our food and enjoyed this little gem very much! Their portions are HUGE we practically wobbled out of there!

The food wasn’t anything special — it was just classic american diner food. The ambiance was really neat though. It was fun to sit and listen to the regulars and the waitresses sass each other back and forth. Its located in a cool old building on Main. We were driving through and had breakfast and it was ok.

We came here twice on our four day vacation, so that should tell you something. The first time was for lunch and I had a cheeseburger with fries and a side of green chili. All of it was great! Everything is homemade from the fries to the chili. The second time was for breakfast and I got the corned beef hash. The hash was perfect but I didn’t like the hash browns. Maybe too much better but something about them was off. We also got a blueberry pancake(huge) for the table to share and that was amazing. I highly recommend the Durango Diner! It’s just good, homemade food! YUM!
