Mammas Paradise Caribbean Restaurant

I was born and raised for a time in the Caribbean, but I’m not necessarily always a big fan of Caribbean food. However, this mom & pop joint was just plain good. The food is as close to home cooked as you can get, which is a big plus in my book.
I’m not a fan of big chain restaurants, and this is a very nice local family business. It’s located in a small strip mall, but don’t be put off, the food is great, and there’s a plenty of it. The portions are *LARGE*! So don’t be afraid to order the «mini» for lunch. I ordered the ‘small’, which was huge, but it was so good I ate all of it. If you like specialty sodas, they have a nice selection. These are like old time «pops» from the 1950s e.g. cream soda, real ginger ale, champagne kola, and orange taste so real you can almost spit out the seeds.
The caliente jerk chicken was very flavorful, but not overwhelming. The «small» meal came with a mountain of delicious red beans and rice, and a nice vegetable side. If you like Caribbean food, or just want something a little different, give this one a try.
