We discovered this nice sushi bar while walking around the Gwinnett Place area. It’s tucked into the corner of a shopping center and isn’t really noticeable from the street. It’s next door to Don Quixote if you’re looking for landmarks. We were pleasantly greeted when entering and were seated in one of the private booths with curtains. We gather that this is a Korean sushi bar from the advertising and the iced tea we were served was a Korean variety. We were brought a small snack plate of edamame and some seaweed with spicy pepper sauce. We ordered a couple of miso soups and a large sake to start. The miso was one of the better ones we’ve had. For the main course we ordered the eel, cucumber, roll. It was on the sushi menu at $ 12 and we didn’t know what to expect for that price. We were more than surprised when it came out. From the looks of it the chef served us the entire length of the eel. It also had salmon inside as well. This thing was absolutely huge and while the price may seem shocking you get a lot. On to the nigiri. We ordered yellow tail, mackerel, tuna, and salmon. The nigiri starts at $ 4 for 2pcs or you can opt for 3pcs of sashimi. The fish was think cut unlike a lot of places I’ve been. The mackerel and yellow tail were so good a friend who only eats tuna thought they were good. The mackerel was very moist along with the yellow tail. I’m not an expert, but everyone in our group seems to think the fish was fresh and not previously frozen since most of the time mackerel is very dry. The tuna and salmon were also very tasty. The sushi was so good just a few drops of soy/wasabi on the fish. There’s no need to saturate the rice because it’s just THAT good with nothing else. For dessert they brought us slices of watermelon. Other interesting things we noticed was that there were abalone shells at the sushi bar. The non-sushi menu was overwhelming with choices. All of the items were sold by the pound and we noticed snow crab and abalone. The other interesting items that caught our eyes were lobster sashimi and live octopus. We’ll be going back to try other things out when we have a chance. We’ve decided that this is our new favorite sushi bar around Gwinnett Place. Try it out and let everyone know what you think. They’re open Mon-Sat til 2am and midnight on Sunday. They also have soju to drink in addition to sake.
