I know the restaurant has changed so I expected a few changes but not this one. I always order the fried rice and 2 salads with extra dressing. Been ordering that for years. I called today and Shobu said they don’t do fried rice by itself it has to be with a full order. Wth?! Really? Why can’t I order just fried rice? Why do I have to order a complete meal when all I want is the fried rice? It makes no sense to me. Look like I’ll be looking for a new Japanese restaurant. Smh

I came here on a Tuesday night around eight thirty. I ordered the steak and chicken while my girlfriend ordered chicken and shrimp. Both meals came with Miso Soup and two salads. Delicious and filling is an understatement!!! Altogether it came to about $ 45.00. It’s kind of in the cut behind a QuikTrip Gas Station, but its definitely a hidden gem in Duluth.

Ginger salad wasn’t good. Sushi was terrible. Ordered a salmon roll-salmon looked gross and was served at wrong temp. Bagel roll was also not good. It was an expensive salmon roll at almost $ 7($ 5 at most sushi restaurants). Everything was overpriced and quality was poor. Service was fine, otherwise would’ve given one star.

I came here on Mother’s Day around 6:30. I thought it was Shogun still. Despite the bad reviews for Shogun, I like their sushi at other locations, so I figured this place would be the same. Food was great! I ordered the sun’s volcano roll which is a California roll topped with a baked crab and masago mixture. They put tons of crab on top, and that made me super happy because it’s my favorite part of the roll. My mom ordered the scallop and chicken hibachi, and it was equally good. Those scallops are big and tasty! The issue I had here was the service and the time it took for our hibachi chef to come. We made a reservation for 6:30, but my mother didn’t arrive until around 7:15. We ordered right when she got there because she already knew what she wanted. It took about 30+ minutes for the hibachi chef to come. I think they were understaffed, and I completely understand that, but absolutely no waitress came by to update us on time or letting us know anything. I’ve been a waitress, and if there’s any issue with the kitchen, I always apologize to my customers and let them know any info that can help the customers feel a little more at ease. I felt like they were avoiding us because after they picked up my sushi roll(yes I finished my roll for a good 15 mins before hibachi chef came) nobody came back to see us until it was time for togo boxes. Oh and their bathroom is so disgusting.

This place was listed as Shogun but changed their name. Salad was old had some brown pieces in it. The actual grill cooked meal was average. Not horrible. Service was a little slow as they had one waitress for whole restaurant.
