My husband and I stopped in on Saturday afternoon for a quick snack. As others have already stated, the ordering process is simple — just go up to the counter and watch them build your pizza. They offer white, wheat and gluten free crust as well as a number of different sauces and toppings. For this visit we chose to split a small spicy Italian. This pizza featured tomato basil sauce, spicy Italian sausage, mushrooms, red onions, banana peppers, mozzarella and basil. We added pepperoni. I was pleasantly surprised by the crust. It was crispy and had a nice bit of char on the outer edge. The mushrooms were fresh, not the canned version I have seen on so many pizzas. The Italian sausage had just a bit of spice to it. I thought the pizza had the perfect amount of cheese. All in all this was a pretty tasty pie and the small was the perfect size for my husband and I to share. They offer salads, foldwiches, a soda fountain as well as bottled drinks to include a limited selection of beer and wine. My husband and I opted for bottled water this visit. One pizza, two waters made a nice snack for only about $ 13. The staff was very friendly and helpful. After you order, they hand you a number which you take to your table. They bring the pizza out to you. They seemed shocked when we cleaned up after ourselves… I guess most just leave their trash on the table. Since we sat outside and it was breezy, we took everything back inside when we finished. We’ll definitely stop back in and next time I am building my own pizza!

That’s good pizza! I love the crust. Their pricing includes up to three toppings so I didn’t feel nickled and dimed. What was amazing was the shear amount of meet that came out on my pizza. I don’t know how they do it. But this was a well-endowed pizza. They don’t skimp on ingredients. I recommend trying them out!

Don’t go when it’s busy. Went today during lunch rush. They were a disaster. No clue which pizzas go with which order or table. I waited 30 minutes just to go up and find out my pizza was served to the wrong customer and they had to remake it. A mob of customers was waiting around trying to get their meal. Oh and don’t bother ordering a salad because you’ll never see it. They look like they are working hard but these guys really should go into DC and study &pizza’s process.

Uncle Maddio’s is one of those places where I say to myself, «One day I’ll try it». What finally prompted us to give it a try was the coupon in The Clipper that comes in the mail. They had a really good coupon which was buy one pizza with up to 3 toppings and get one free. So, with a deal like that, how could we say«no»? We were here on a Saturday around 5 p.m. Since it was our first visit, we had an idea as to where it was located but almost drove right past it. Their outside sign is not exactly eye-catching. It’s small and the colors just about blend in with the color of the outside walls. I know from watching shows like«Restaurant Impossible» and«Bar Rescue», it’s not good to have signs that don’t stand out. In fact, both Robert Irvine and Jon Taffer get really worked up about that LOL! Upon entering, it was easy to figure out the ordering system. A large, very visible menu is on the wall. You can’t miss it when you enter. They offer up some specialty pizzas, such as, for example, «buffalo chicken». However, you can create your own, which is what we did. You choose your crust(traditional, wheat or gluten free), your sauce(we both chose tomato basil sauce and traditional crust) and your cheese(we chose mozzarella). They offer other cheeses, including vegan daiya«cheese». Then you choose from a wide selection of toppings. I added bacon and tomatoes. My husband added sweet Italian sausage. The pizzas are assembled right in front of you. The staff there was very friendly and helpful. After doing that, you choose your drinks(they have bottled and canned drinks as well as a soda fountain). I grabbed a bottle of water while my husband got a can of San Pellegrino orange soda. With the coupon, it cost $ 11 + change! Was that a good coupon or what! You are given a number to put on a stand at your table. When your pizzas are ready, they are brought to your table. It didn’t take long for the pizzas to come out. We both agreed that the pizzas are«A-OK». The tomato basil sauce was on the bland side. The crust was thin and crispy — both our pizzas had crust that was a bit overdone. I was impressed with the bacon topping as it had good flavor. I swear — some cheap pizza places seem to dump jarred bacon bits on their pizzas but here it was the real thing. The tomatoes were finely diced and fresh. The amount of mozzarella was generous. My husband did like his sweet Italian sausage, but yet, didn’t rave about it. We both found the individual sized pizzas to be quite filling! We would consider going again. I think it’s a decent place to go if you have a group of people with different dietary needs — everybody can get what they want. They also have some salads on the menu and what they call«foldwiches». When it comes to pizza, you could do a lot worse. You could also do a lot better. We have no regrets having tried it. That coupon was a great deal!

Maybe we ordered the wrong thing? Got the following pizzas: cheese, pepperoni & steak and blue. The amount of cheese was, honestly, nauseating. The sauce & crust are on point but the cheese is just tooooo much. Service was fast & quick & friendly. I guess we could try ordering with half the cheese? Will try, maybe.

I’ve been here three times for salads with friends or club members. One time they were out of tofu & gave me a free iced tea. I should go back, the salad is truly make-your-own.

Nice place and an awesome pizza!!! I had a southwest Baja medium pizza and such a good feeling it was! All the ingredients were really fresh and all the toppings were awesome and a coke on the side was just perfect. I guess this is my new favorite place along with Curry and Pie in Georgetown, DC

We ate dinner here the other night and I was very impressed with the food and how quick our order was ready. We ordered the Steak and blu cheese pizza and it was excellent! The only negative I have is the water from the soda machine had a very bleach like taste. However, when we notified staff they let us get soda or tea at no extra charge. Overall a great experience!

Great, quick lunch. We had a Greek salad, very good, and the Spicy Italian pizza, nice fresh ingredients. Maddio Monday was great for the kids, a 9″ with 3 toppings for $ 5.99 was perfect for the two kids to share. Friendly, quick service.

Yet another place I thought I’d already reviewed that it turns out I haven’t yet. The food is 3-star quality, but I have to bump them up to 4 stars for speed, service and value. I’m always blown away by how big the pizzas and salads are(and how generous the toppings are) for the price. It’s certainly tasty, and the best of the fast/conveyor belt style pizza joints around(WAY better than Spinfire or Pie Five or Pizzanese), but it doesn’t taste as good as pizzeria pizza like you’d get from somewhere like Delia’s.

Fortunately this joint was right next to my hotel and fortunately my hotel had a kitchen because the pizza needed to be re-heated. They got a flood of customers and I didn’t get the pizza when it came out of the oven. But after I heated it back up in my hotel skillet and got a nice crisp bottom, I was really happy with the taste of this spicy Italian pie. It had good quality ingredients. The beer and wine selection is pretty bad but there is a Wegmann’s right across the street so we could buy a decent bottle of wine to go with the pizza. I would definitely return if in the area as the prices seemed reasonable too.

Awesome customer service! Today I placed my ordered online for my lunch and when I went to pick it up, they said their was a glitch in their system and my order wouldn’t be ready for 10 minutes. They offered me a free beverage while I waited, then sincerely apologized for the inconvenience and gave me my pizza free of charge!!! On to the food… I had the spicy Italian and it was absolutely delicious. All of the veggies and sausage tasted extremely fresh and cooked to perfection! Great pizza! I’ve only been living in the area for 4 months and this is by far the best pizza I have had since I moved down here. The great food combined with amazing customer services makes this a 5 star place for sure!

Even though I avoid chain pizza places because it means putting someone’s uncle frank out of work, this place was pretty good for the price. I was with a gluten free friend who was thrilled with the crusr. I had the lunch special… Greek salad, drink and 6 inch pizza. Tiny but tasty with portobello and peppers. For once a lunch under ten bucks including tax. Hardworking staff today.

I’m not sure where to start on how much I loved the pizza here. I ordered a small chicken club without lettuce on the whole wheat crust. The crust was thin, had a great flavor, and texture. The chicken was super high quality and the pizza was overflowing with cheese. Finally the bacon was nice and crisp. The prices are also very reasonable. I will definitely be back soon to try the bbq pizza and one of their delicious looking chocolate chip cannolis. If you like pizza you have to try this place!

Rolled in here on a Monday with my pizza addiction in tow. I heard this is a create-your-own-pie type of spot which I was anxious to try. It’s got a variety of specialty pizzas. I’ll have to try those next time I come in. For this visit I decided to create my own pizza. You pick the crust, the sauce and then 3 toppings. They have a variety of toppings and interesting cheeses such as bleu cheese and cheddar. And they aren’t shy about the toppings. Your pizza will be loaded and covered. I’ll have to come in again to try their other stuff.

First visit. Very happy with my BBQ chicken on whole wheat. Very much the Chipotle style of ordering. Hope they come to Ohio.

I’m moved from out of town, haven’t really liked local pizza, but this pizza is the best! This is my second visit. I like building my own pizza and having the option of wheat crust as well. What made me provide a review today, June 26th, around 2pm, is that I had a really bad day and choose to visit this joint to stuff my face and issues away. The pizza was great, but over hearing my day, someone on staff surprised me with a warm chocolate chip cookie when my pizza was ready. Who does that? I loved it. Thank you!

I’m not quite sure what is supposed to be special about this place. Pizza is thin crust with not much interest to it. Standard cheese portion is heavy. Toppings, while abundant in options, are light on quality and quantity. So I commend them on a profitable business model — sell $ 2 worth of cheese for $ 14, print a long list of vegetables on the menu and offer a gluten-free crust option, and wealthy families in the ‘burbs will feel like they got their money’s worth and did something«fun». They might do well to find a way to do what Red Robin has done and create a bar area, which is a de facto adults-only zone. Sunday afternoon was packed with kids whose howls echoed through the cavernous interior while we were rewarded with a sporadic back massage courtesy of the 4-year-old kicking the booth behind us.

Local friends of ours have raved about this great new pizza joint. We went to Uncle Maddio’s for the first time yesterday in support of a fundraiser for our local elementary school. I’m not sure they were ready for the crowd. The line was pretty long and pretty slow. The folks working behind the counter lacked enthusiasm and seemed sort of annoyed that we were there. The food was fine. My kids enjoyed their pizzas made their own individual way they like it. I had a steak and cheese panini, and it was okay. Nothing I would rave about or go out of my way to go there again. I would say it was more like a toasted hoagie than what I am used to for a «panini.» What I like about Uncle Maddio’s is it’s one of these«fast casual» places that uses fresh ingredients, and it’s an assembly line sort of like a Chipotle or a Subway where you tell them exactly what you want on your pizza. You pay at the cash register, get your own drinks from the soda fountain(coke products), and take a seat with a number on your table, and they bring your pizza out to you when it is done cooking. I wouldn’t mind eating there again, but I probably won’t be in any rush to go back.

The pizza was good, but the service left a bit to be desired. I like the new, innovative idea, but we went for the first time after seeing all the Unilocal reviews and we were very unimpressed with the efficiency of the restaurant. Only two people were on the«assembly line» we’ll call it, and the lunch rush was quickly piling in. We had 4 people in our party and it took about 10 minutes just to get the pizzas made before they went in the oven. Neither employee sounded like they wanted to be there. As we spent 10 minutes having our stuff made, the line quickly grew to 10+ people behind us. When our pizzas came out, the guy that was running the dining room(short dirty-blond hair) was a lot nicer and expeditious and actually shouted the«Ciao Maddio» that is seen in the online video. I wonder if he was a manager — if not, he should be, and then he can whip the rest of the crew into shape. The pizza was pretty good. Not gonna lie. And it’s a great idea. I just can’t justify giving more than 2 stars with the way the service was. We will probably be back to give Maddio’s a shot at redemption. Hopefully they take this feedback to heart.

So this place is pretty much a Chipotle of pizza. Uncle Maddio’s appears to be a chain, but there is currently no other locations in Virginia yet. When you get in line you pick your pizzas and they add the toppings right there in front of you. My kids both had kids pizza meals($ 3.99) which included a drink. I had a make your own salad. They have pre-made options… but I will say I LOVE a place where I can say what goes into my salad. For most places there is never the right combo salad that I want without asking them to add something or take something away which is what makes this so perfect for me! My salad was delicious. It had a little bit of flat brad with it which was AMAZING. The salad dressing(balsamic vinegar) was home made and so good. All the veggies and the chicken all tasted fresh! I will be back for sure!

Went here with my sisters and nephews on a recent Saturday and really enjoyed it! I’ve heard of make your own pizza places cropping up – with all the success of make your own Mexican and salad places, I’m surprised it’s taken so long! They have TONS of options for crusts, sauces, cheeses and toppings so you’re sure to please everyone. They also offer a kids size pizza which is great so the picky eater doesn’t force everyone into a plain pizza. We had options with both the regular and whole wheat crust. Both were crunch and cooked well. Regular tomato sauce had a great balance of savory and sweet, but not overpowering, so the toppings really shined. Topping, oh the toppings! Between four pizzas, we had just about everything! I like that they had several cheese options, lots of veggies, hot and sweet sausage, etc. The staff was friendly, patient and very helpful. Everyone left happy and stuffed!

This is my second visit here, I came here for the first time a few months ago and it was, Eh. I got a coupon in the mail and decided to give them another try, they were still new the last time. This time I choose to create my own pizza with pesto and it was AMAZING! So happy I gave them another chance, the pizza is made right as you watch and you can customize it however you like! I have a feeling this will become one of our new spots! I was very impressed! They have deals every Monday too!!! Downside is they don’t deliver, but it’s nice to get out of the houser for dinner every once in a while.

The pizza is OK… Both of our pizzas, ordered 30 minutes apart, were over cooked and the crust was a bit burnt making it very hard. The pizza was pretty good, but very greasy to the point where it made the bottom crust soggy and it was hard to eat more than 2 slices. As far as price goes, they’re a little high since a large Big Max and one soda was just over $ 21. I had water from the soda fountain and I was a bit bummed that they didn’t have bottled water. No matter how much you let the water go before putting it your cup, you still get a bit of soda taste from the fountain. They do sell beer as well.

I had only been in line for about 4 minutes before the manager came and instructed one of his«free» employee to tend to customer’s needs. Very friendly crew, and quick service. I have only tried a couple of their menu items, but so far the food has been great. They provide plenty of choices between pizzas and paninis. They offer white and wheat options for crust, which I liked because it’s different than your average pizza places. They also have a tremendous amount of toppings options, think Chipotle. it’s all laid out in front of you to pick from. You can also buy uncooked pizza to take home and bake it yourself. Ya’ll HAVETOCHECKITOUT!

Their gluten free service was amazing! They have separate toppings for their GF pizzas and change their gloves, all to avoid cross contamination. Prices were fair, and pizza was good, not out of this world, but no nasty after taste that a lot of GF pizzas have. I loved the GF dessert bar too! My son had the whole wheat kids pizza and enjoyed that as well. Staff was helpful and nice. Cute little patio.
