Depends. If you need sushi, this is ok. This is a Korean owned sushi place, which is kind of a sub-genre of sushi. They have a few Korean dishes, and I tried hwe-dup bahp, which is kind of like a chirashi bowl. This was pretty much the worst hwe-dup bahp I’ve ever had. I understand its in an airport, but still, this just made a bad flying experience that much worse.

We arrived early to help my family beat the traffic, and then our flight was delayed 2 more hours. We decided to try this place — it looked weird, a sushi bar with no walls. The staff speaks mostly all Japanese. We ordered a nice amount of food and it arrived very quickly! It was tasty and pretty! Note: it’s basically fast food, so dine in or dine out it arrives on plastic plates. Definitely a place i’d choose to get dinner/lunch from again.

I’ll admit airport sushi isn’t something I’d normally go in for, but we were looking at a 2+ hour delay, so I guess worse case scenario if things went bad, it’d be before I was on a plane. That said, nothing went wrong, good sushi, hit the spot, fast service.

Great alternative to other options in the airport. It’s location away from the busy terminals and by the international travelers was a big plus. The sushi looked very good and many customers(Asian and Not) seemed to be enjoying it. We opted for the chicken teriyaki and chicken Katsu with a side of edamame. The chicken in the teriyaki was overcooked and perhaps made hours ago but having fresh sliced vegetables made up for that. The Katsu was very tasty and hit the spot. Served with side salad and good sticky rice was a plus.

Um… it’s ok. Not too bad for an airport restaurant.

I typically don’t expect much when it comes to airport food, so I was quite surprised to see a sushi joint with somewhat reasonable prices. Their individual rolls were around $ 5 – 6, which isn’t bad at all when it comes to regular sushi rolls. I wound up sharing a sushi combo with a friend and tried the tuna roll, salmon roll, and California roll. I’m the type of person to eat sushi because I adore raw fish; though extravagant, specialty rolls are good too, I tend to go for the classic, simple rolls to enjoy the freshness of raw fish. Once we got our order, I realized why the pricing was so reasonable. The tuna and salmon rolls were tiny. Each piece contained a tiny piece of fish bundled with an unproportional amount of rice. It was a little disappointing to be honest — all I wanted was to enjoy some raw fish, and I barely got any! The fish itself tasted fine — I just didn’t get very much of it. I guess the most disappointing part was just the unmet expectations of the sushi — I expected to get a normal sized sushi roll for the price I was paying, but in reality, the rolls were much smaller than normal. Just beware of that. You definitely get what you pay for at an airport restaurant.

I had tuna and salmon nigiri. The pieces are definitely on the small side. I didn’t think the prices were that bad until I saw how small the portions were. But that’s to be expected at an airport I suppose. The presentation was good. And the sushi really was fantastic. I would definitely go back again.

Had shrimp tempura roll, crunch roll and Unagi nigiri! All really good. But quite expensive compare to similar sushi place. The food is really good though!

Had to wait 10 minutes for the sushi chef to come and even start making anything even though there was nobody else being served. The lady running the register has RBF and wasn’t very friendly. All that usually matters to me is the food tho and it sucked. Looks like it’s Korean run if that means anything to anyone. But for what it’s worth it IS airport sushi and the only option there is. If the service was better I probably wouldn’t have even reviewed the joint but if you’re gonna make me wait do it nicely please.

Normal sushi prices, but very small portions; I would say roughly half normal size. Average beer selection; all the american staples(Bud/Miller/Coors, $ 3.75) plus some imports(Kirin, Asahi, Sapporo, $ 4.95). Not the worst you could do at the airport.

Overpriced run of the mill japanese food. It is not a good time to be craving for some japanese food whenever you are in IAD. Portions are ridiculously small for the price that they are charging.

Had chirashi(mixed sashimi over rice). Fish was fresh, size was reasonable, and value was good — a shocking really given airport location. Glad it wasn’t crowded, because the pace is quite relaxed… Ok, less hurried than rush hour on the i95, even. If you have lots of time, you’re good. 3 ½ stars really

Airport Sushi can be expensive and dicy, but the experience here was quite enjoyable $ 11 for a California Roll, 2 pieces of mackerel, and drink is a pretty good deal any day of the week. The sushi was pretty fresh and certainly better than some airport burgers that I have had in the past

Meh. Airport sushi what can I say. Fish was very thinly sliced. Normal rolls and selection not too creative. Serve you everything in styrofoam or take out dishes. Hamachi nigiri looked strange, never seen hamachi look like that. Tasted ok. Salmon nigiri was the best. Pricey for what it was. Did I say the fish was very thin?

Freshly made sushi and some other korean dishes. Beware, the portions are tiny, almost child-like. I had to order two rolls to fill hunger. So, judging from standpoint of quantity/price, it’s a mediocre value. However, health vise it’s one of the few healthy eateries in IAD.

Nice friendly service. Good airport sushi. Made fresh. Prices didn’t seem awful by airport standards. Way healthier than the burger joints! A solid 3.4. Oh Unilocal when will you allow decimals?

Surprised to see Sushi and especially to see relatively good sushi at an airport. While also very different than the normal junk/trash burger at your average airport the sushi was fresh and made by a ‘real’ sushi chef. I had the salmon sashimi and the shrimp tempura rolls, both very nice. Unfortunate that most airport ‘restaurants’ don’t have any atmosphere, but hey what can you expect… Pricing is ok. Recommending this one, especially as a good on airport alternative. Rating would probably be 3.5.

The sushi was fresh and tasty, made to order… the problem was the portions were tiny. I paid $ 15 for four pieces of sashimi and 6 small rolls of sushi. All of them were just bite size. Many Japanese were eating there when I arrived and they opted for the Ramen soups, or other items from the Kitchen. That might be the best deal. Located in Concourse A near A20.

The quality at Matsutake is solidly A-OK, but its sheer existence is nothing short of a miracle. A reasonably-priced sushi bar right in the terminal? With a real live sushi chef who makes everything to order? And beer, wine and sake to boot?! I thought I had died and gone to airport heaven. Seriously, it was the perfect hunger-stopper just before boarding, to keep us from eating all the packaged junk they push on you. And quite a few people eyed our meal as we were enjoying it in the terminal, some asking for directions to the magical world from whence we came. The food itself was fresh and delicious, very much standard for Japanese. If I had been more adventurous and had more time, I would have liked to have tried the Korean offerings on the menu(bulgogi, soup, etc.) but I was very happy with the sushi, and with the price: for $ 20 we were both satisfied. Hopefully you will not need to eat at the airport. But if you do, I hope Matsutake is nearby!
