I had the BBQ Pork burger. It’s BBQ pork on top of a hamburger with bacon. The place is decked out with Cubbies gear. Cool place. I took a star off because the burger had way too much salt in it. I kept hitting salt pockets. If they cut back on the salt I’d give a 5⁄5 without question.

This place is terrible. 20 minutes for a drink order everyone is running around but nothing is getting done. Do yourself a favor and go local to watch a game.

It was Friday night fish so why not try the beer battered fish sandwich? The breading was kinda think and a bit greasy but flavor was good. As a sandwich the fish was not real easy to eat. If I was to order again I might get the fish and chips instead of the sandwich?

Have been here 3 times in the past two months. Lunch each time, always sat in the bar side. Food has always been served quickly and plentiful. Service has been very good each visit also. Will continue to come here for lunch when I’m in town. Fresco Tacos are excellent, and the Chicken Ranch wrap is really good also.

I absolutely love champs! Every time I pick something new to eat I end up loving it! The wait staff is always very nice. However I do find that often times when I go in the wait staff is very busy and it always takes forever just to order food or get drink refills.

Service was extremely slow and unattentive. The Carolina burger was not as good as the menu described. The summer salad was very good.

The food is fairly good there. They have a pretty good selection of beers there, in addition to the standards(Bud, Coors, etc) they also have some of the more local brews. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

Not many options, they’ve revamped their menu probably three times in the past year and it has gotten worse each time. A decent place to go for a casual lunch. I recommend the nachos or the southwest Caesar salad.

When you have a party of 14– 8 adults, 6 children it is impossible for everyone to be made happy. This was close. Every child but one exception wanted chicken strips. Every adult had different dietary requests. At some point you let the majority(kids demanding chicken fingers…) rule. Plus, an ice cream sundae for each kid. Thus, the children are sated and adults watch their game of choice. I was happy because this day came to a close– having felt sick coming down with a cold– all I wanted was to be in bed, sleeping it off. I went to a water park filled with chlorine and shrieking screaming children. I went to two museums. I went along a tour of a steamboat and all the while hoped to not make anyone else in the crowded party sick. Now here, massive headache, itchy sore throat, stuffy breathing, facing a wait and an obnoxiously terrible Ariana Grande song blaring… a drink looked magnificently heroic. I ordered a lemon martini. Because citrus is good for a cold, right? It was spectacular! I took pictures of a couple of the plates ordered but really, really, that martini was what made me oblivious to all else, exceptionally happy. Nothing. Else. Matters.

We decided to go here for dinner as we hadn’t been to a Champs in a very long time(almost a year according to my last FB check in). Atmosphere: part sports bar and part restaurant. There were enough screens in the restaurant area to see games and such, but not so overwhelming that you had one in your face no matter which way you turned. Staff: we were greeted promptly upon entering and taken to a table immediately. They were friendly and courteous. The waitress got our drink order promptly and gave us all the time we needed for the menu. Food: there is a really nice big selection of foods and we had a hard time deciding. We finally ended up getting the chicken fajita tacos for my girlfriend and steak fajita tacos for me. The portions were just perfect in that we were comfortably full when we left, but not overstuffed. The food tasted fresh and wonderful! We will definitely come back again!

We live in town and have gone to Champp’s fairly frequently. We always enjoyed the menu variety and food quality — it wasn’t exceptional but it was dependably very good. My wife and I went for dinner tonight. To be kind, they have completely gutted their menu. At best, they have 1⁄3 of the selection and variety that they had. All of our regular favorites are gone. Worse, the food that was served was clearly of a lower taste and quality. Our chicken tortilla soup was close to a mediocre tomato bisque, my wife’s french dip was luke warm and little more than a few slices of beef on a hot dog bun. My chicken finger dinner was clearly a quick fry — up of cheap chicken strips. We could have had better food at Culver’s for a lot less money. It’s highly unlikely that we’ll be back. What a total failure.

My family was here this past weekend to celebrate my sister’s college graduation. They sat us in a semi-private room off of the main dinning area. They were able to accommodate a group of 11 very easily. For the first half of our lunch we were the only one dinning in the room and it was very quite and easy to converse. Later another large group was seated in this area too but it remained quiet and easy to hear everyone sitting at our table. We had some of their signature drinks which were very tasty. We shared an appetizer of calamari that was tasty and came with a nice dipping sauce. For my lunch i enjoyed their Gyro with waffle fries. The Gyro was VERY good, I really enjoyed it because it did not have an overpowering amount of onion. The waffle fries were so-so and were something cent upgrade. Everyone in our group enjoyed their entrees. Only complaint would be that service would be a little slow especially when it came to getting drinks like water.

Menu was greasy and sticky, as was our table. Wait person didn’t want to take the trouble to fetch a beer list for us. Calamari was way overcooked. Video screens are huge and the HD picture is awesome.

Champps is the hotel restaurant for the Best Western at which I recently stayed on business. A new and lively place with lots of sports décor representing U of Iowa and the various Dubuque-area colleges. A large three-sided bar welcomes and the staff was attentive and eager to serve. I’m a beer nerd and am always on the lookout for local brews that aren’t available back at home. Thankfully there were a couple Iowa-only varieties among the dozen or so varieties on tap. A nice touch for a national franchise that could easily stick to A-B or Miller products and do just fine. There were some great food specials though I didn’t take advantage of any this particular evening. The following morning I learned that the adjacent hotel’s breakfast buffet was located at Champps. The offerings were abundant with fresh fruit as well as favorites like piping hot sausage gravy and biscuits. In a world where a stale pre-packaged bagel is considered ‘continental breakfast’ this was a treat. Well done, Champps. I might not seek you out when at home, but certainly not a bad place to have next door when on the road.

Decent enough food and really nicely decorated – especially considering it’s a sports bar. They had a mile high dessert that I didn’t eat but it was like 6+ layers of ice cream and cookie layers that 4 people couldn’t finish! Horrible host that I really got sick of listening to ramble randomly during a football game. It could have been a decent but no one was really listening so it was just annoying.

They’ve got a great Bloody Mary under their caps. Order it «spicy» and it will not disappoint! The food, well it’s typical Sports Bar Americana, with a feeble attempt to add a few«modern twists» by adding feta and blue crumbles to some salads and burgers. The sides I’ve had with my meals have been my favorite part of the experience(aside from the brews). The side Greek salad is definitely worth the up-charge and french onion soup is a bit salty — but tasty none-the-less. The place is outfitted with TVs with a multitude of games at every angle your head can twist.(They may have 15+ TVs in the joint, but it seems like there are only 3 different stations /games being aired at once) Great selection of tap beers. Thursday nights = $ 2 taps.
