Great location and what wonderful employees they are very helpful and friendly. every time I go to that shopping center I stop by this beautiful store. I bought so many things from this store it’s because of their customer service plus they have all kind of kitchen items. I will recommend all my friends, family and coworkers to shop at this store.

My wife and I received as a Christmas gift a cooking class at Sur La Table in Dublin. What a unique, and as it turns out, a very fun class. The class was titled«Date Night: Dinner in Tuscany with Chef Taylor G.» We learned how to make Parmesan Polenta with roasted wild mushrooms, seared pork tenderloin stuffed with Tuscan Kale and Pancetta and vanilla Panna Cotta with Chianti poached pears. I love to cook, but I learned a lot in regards to technique and in using a knife for cutting various foods, like mushrooms, onions, pears and meat. Also learned about other tools/gadgets such as the Chef’s knife(different brands/quality), microplane zester, and the meat mallet. Chef Taylor did a great job of describing the cooking techniques for each dish [don’t throw in all your spices at one time! Use salt to enhance the food]. The only dish we got to make was the pork tenderloin,(although we did skin and cut the pears and cut the mushrooms). Learned how to cut the pork and how to string the stuffed pork. We had some time in waiting for the pork to cook so I wish he had spent more time in going over how to make the Panna Cotta(he described the process, but we didn’t actually make it). We shared a station with another couple(one induction burner for 4 people) so we share the cooking duties. I wish there was one burner for each couple, but space was tight. Overall, it’s about a two hour cooking class. Great recipes and the end product was fantastic. We ate the final products there. I wish they served wine with the meal(or allow us to bring our own), but they said that they could only do that for private parties. You get a 10% discount to shop after the class. I’m anxious to cook these same dishes at home and impress my friends.

I’m not typically one to Unilocal!unless I have a really pleasant or unpleasant experience. This unfortunately fell under the latter. My girlfriend and I walked in looking for espresso powder, as it was the only place that had it, and were assisted by Michele after a few minutes of unsuccessfully searching on our own. Michele was very sweet and very helpful and is the reason why I decided to double my original amount of stars. Once we located the powder, we walked up to the cash register and this is where the«one star» service took place. One woman was on the phone, dealing with a customer and another by the Lisa, who I assume was the manager, stood behind her. The woman on the phone asked Lisa questions for the customer she was dealing with and Lisa answered them, but not once were we acknowledged, not even a «We will be right with you». Another woman walked up to Lisa and asked if she could take a break, and Lisa sent her without hesitation, instead of perhaps asking her to ring up one more customer before. Finally, Lisa decided to walk up to the computer RIGHTNEXTTOUS, and I had to passively ask if there was anyone else working. This was received with a cold«Yes», and Lisa not-so-urgently walked herself to the cash register, asking us «Is this all?», and absolutely nothing else because why make your customer feel welcome? After a little bit of harsh, awkward silence, I let Lisa know that Michele was very helpful, hoping to bring a little appreciation up, but this was received with another few seconds of silence followed by «…oh». I didn’t bother after this and the only reason I bit my tongue was due to the fear of being refused service and our hunt for espresso powder becoming that much more complicated. I gave Lisa my $ 10 for the powder, despite the fact that it seems that she would not give me the time of day. I will not be returning and I sure hope this will have others decide to make the trek to Walnut Creek instead.
