Food catered here for quick pickups is great. Flavor is consistent and service is warm and friendly.

Consistency is both the charm and the bane of small mom-and-pop restaurants. Eating here is like eating a home-cooked meal. However, with no process in place to ensure the food is cooked the same way every day, patrons are at the mercy of whoever is in the kitchen that day. Sadly, this is the case of my favorite dish at Sizzling Place. Coming here is a gamble and today, my luck ran out. I was highly impressed by the adobo I ate here on my previous visit. I ordered it again today and it was not as good as I remembered. Depth of flavor was lacking. There was a distinct sweetness that was out of place for this dish. This leads me to believe that they are not cooking this as long as they should. I think they added sugar to mask the rawness of the vinegar. Filipino adobo is a braised dish. This means it is cooked low and slow to develop flavor and soften the tough cuts of meat that are traditionally used in this dish. Like most soups and stews, adobo is usually better eaten after many hours simmering on the stove. This allow the disparate flavors to develop and meld together. The harshness of the vinegar mellows out, the garlic loses its bite but retains its fragrance and the saltiness of the soy sauce brings it all together. My lunch today wasn’t bad; however, compared to the extraordinary dish I ate a few weeks ago, there is no comparison.

Ok so here is my updated review of Sizzling Place. First, I think they have definitely worked on their presentation and the way food is served and prepared. It is completely different from the old owners of Lumpia and when it was still Lumpia House with new owners. I went here twice in 2 days and first day I had the Adobo Silog which comes with chicken, rice, and 1 egg on a sizzling plate. The adobo was delicious, it is something I rarely order because often times I would get disappointed in the quality of it at most restaurants but I thought I’d give it a shot and it was great. I also had 10 pieces of the Lumpia Shanghai, they were freshly cooked and had a good dipping sauce. Two thumbs up. Then I went back the next day and I had the bistek Tagalog with rice. The sauce was a little sweeter than what I am used to but it wasn’t bad at all. It was plenty of food. Since I was also being a fat ass I got a half order of Lechon Kawali and 2 pieces of Longanisa. The Longanisa is standard and tasted fried, not grilled. The Lechon was good, it was meatier than what you get at most places. I think if you had 1 bad experience here then maybe give it one more chance. Yes, there is a wait since they prepare your food cooked to order but I found it better than when it was buffet style. The prices are a little more expensive but other than that I would visit again.

This place is hidden in a plaza behind a gas station. I believe that this place used to be called something else. The name doesn’t give any vibe of being Filipino cuisine. I walked in & you can tell it’s run by a family. It’s a smaller restaurant but so clean & welcoming(home-y) If you are dining in they will give you a menu & you have a seat. If you are ordering to-go, order up at the front. She took our order right away & she was super friendly. We ordered the Lumpia Shanghai, which are pretty small but I think good for 1 serving. We also ordered Pancit Bihon & Pancit Canton. The pancit canton has fatter noodles than pancit bihon. It was really yummy & very filling. We had a ton of leftovers. They give you your bill & you pay up front. All in all, not a bad Filipino restaurant. **side note: I am Filipino & nothing EVER beats mom’s cooking so I may be a little biased in that retrospect.

It’s just plain bad. I thought it would have improved with the name change but it’s still the same mediocre food. I ordered a combo nilaga and the beef was tough and it was a very small serving for 9 bucks! I won’t be back, I’m better off frying frozen Lumpia.
