Shamrock Barber Shop

I’ve been to a lot of hair cut places in my day but Shamrock is one of the best. The shop is really cool how it’s decorated. They have plenty of Buckeye stuff up. I’m a Christmas loving sort and I appreciate they took the time to decorate the shop. I was looking for a place to get my hair cut as it was beyond way too long. I found Shamrock on Unilocal!and was pretty impressed with the reviews. I headed on over one day after work at 5:30pm. Shamrocks closed this night at 6pm. I figured plenty of time to get there right? I forgot how ridiculous Tuttle Crossing is traffic wise.
I arrived at the shop at 5:47pm and did not have an appointment. The guy was friendly but did have to ask his one barber who was not working on someone if he’d take me as a customer as it was so close to closing. Thankfully Gabriel was more than up for it and I got into my chair. He asked me how I wanted it cut and I explained I just wanted the shaggy mane trimmed down a good bit. When I told him how much I wanted cut off he asked me several times to confirm as he said it was a good bit. I give him credit that he did seem very concerned that he understood what I wanted. Most places they just ask once and that’s it. Gabriel seemed to desire to make sure I got the haircut that I wanted.
While getting my haircut I spoke a good bit with Gabriel about just about everything under the sun. He was a very good conversationalist and before I knew it he was finishing up. I was finally FREE of all that damned hair! Gabriel commented that he hadn’t cut that much hair off anyone’s head since he cut a homeless guys hair. I know some folks may have been offended by it but I thought it was hilarious and have told just about everyone about that comment.
I asked if they took credit cards and he said they didn’t. I had vaguely remembered reading in the reviews that they didn’t so earlier in the day I had hit up the ATM just in case. My haircut was $ 16 and I felt bad I only had a $ 20 bill. If I had more money I would have tipped him more. Gabriel assured me that it was pretty standard for people to just do the $ 20 for the $ 16 cut.
As I left I noticed I was the last one left and the main guy at the register and Gabriel had been kept there by me until 6:45! Now that’s a good bit of time to work over so once again I thanked the guys and told them how much I appreciated it and that’d I’d give them a great rating on Unilocal!
Next time I will make an appointment or leave work a bit earlier than 5:30pm to get my hair trimmed. I love this place and everyone should give them a try. It’s the best barber shop in Columbus in my book. I plan to become a regular. Ask for Gabriel, he knows how to do a trim proper.
P. S. They do the neck shave with a straight razor at the end like all proper barber shops should do. I love that!

Great local barber shop! DeWayne, Tony and Bob are true professionals. I’ve been making appointments to have DeWayne cut my hair for the last 24 years but all the guys are great and they take walk-​ins too. Great service for a reasonable cost. Can’t go wrong with this place!!!

Great place, great haircut. I am new to Columbus, OH and needed a new haircut place. I was very pleased with Shamrock and will definitely be back again.

Trying to get a haircut on a Tuesday at 6:00p is dicey — and when you’re on business out of town and looking for a cut your really never know what you’re going to get. Shamrock Barber Shop was a great surprise. Not only was the price very reasonable, the gentlemen at Shamrock were very accommodating (they stayed until 7 for my cut) and I got one of the best haircuts I’ve had in years. 5 stars!

As a kid, my mother always took me to a salon to get my hair cut. When I turned 11 yrs old, I bought a pair of clippers and cut my own hair till I was 24, at which point, my wife convinced me to go get someone to cut it for me… I’ve been around the block… from Kenneth’s to Mandarin to Sport Cuts and Charles Penzone. Kenneth’s & Penzone did a fine job, but after being convinced at 32 yrs of age by my future brother-​in-​law to check out a barber shop (since I’d never been to one in my entire life), I’m completely hooked! Dewayne & Tony were hilarious… I’ve NEVER had someone take such meticulous care of my precious hair. It was the best experience I’ve ever had — old school, great guys, perfect haircut, and a great fee to boot. I’ll be going to see them for the next 25 – 30 yrs or so!

In a world of stores that try cater to all who walk in the door, the traditional barber shop is one of the few retail businesses left that caters to men specifically. I have been getting my haircut from Shamrock Barber Shop for at least 3 years. The barbers are highly experienced, and they give you a professional cut at a reasonable price. The conversation is always lively, which makes the time go by very quickly. They are also extremely well-​connected to the Columbus business community.
