This one is another more for canvassing than anything else. It sort of reminds me of Blimpie, with freshly sliced meats(not sure anyone cares about slicing compressed meat, but whatever), though POS(hmmm) uses paper-thin slices and not a lot of them. The meat may have great flavor, I honestly have no idea since they didn’t really put enough on that I could tell. It also kind of reminds me a bit of Quizno’s with the toasting thing, except here, they just toss the whole thing in a panini press. Mind=blown. Wow. Groundbreaking. I wasn’t too excited to hit up another chain, but while I’ve been to many a place I would call POS, I haven’t been to one that literally abbreviates to POS, so there’s that, I guess. Drink selection is asscakes, though, so no favors there. I dunno, I’ve had better subs and so have you, but if either of us has ever been to Subway, for instance, we’ve also had worse. There is little to differentiate it in sandwich combination or toppings or any of that. I’d probably like it better if they would actually put a decent amount of meat on, but it’s not like I’m clamoring to go back or anything anyway. This one basically falls right smack dab in the middle; nothing too offensive, but nothing really noteworthy, either.

Far better than Subway. Everything is fresh made, and there are so many choices of what you want your sub to be like. And that doesn’t count what you put on your sandwich further down the line. This is now my go to sub place, since there are no Blimpie restaurants in my area anymore. Fresh baked bread, top notch ingredients, very friendly service, etc. This place is underrated and could use the business. Go Port of Subs!

Port Of Subs is what Subway and Blimpie could have/should have been. They have over 18 different cold subs(but will grill it for you if you are a lover of warm subs like me!), grillers, wraps, salads, side items, etc. There is plenty of choices for everyone, including people who are more picky with their sub sandwich food items. The meats are fresh tasting(not like Subway, whose meats taste turkey based), fresh veggies, etc. Their sourdough bread is DELICIOUS and severely underrated. I hope they will expand their business so that they are not simply in the Mountain West anymore. The nation deserves a fresh new take on subs, and they have it!

I’m not going to go into over-kill mode and describe the menu for you. Let’s just get to the meat of this bad boy(pardon the pun). Port of Subs is what a sandwich shop should be. Fresh cut meet, fresh cut veggies, freshly made bread, and a wide variety of these items. Port of Subs is fresh all around, and what a breathe of fresh air compared to the typical«sandwich shops». On my last visit I had the opportunity to meet the owner. What a great guy, and I can tell you this guy takes his sandwiches serious. He takes great pride in his work and it shows. The quality of this place is unmatched in franchise style shops like this. Take a minute to stop by and grab a real style sub! If you make it to this location look for me in my faded white Unilocal sunglasses sipping a soda and eating a gigantic pastrami sub, with a smile on my face!

I love port of subs… They have waaay nicer meat than Subway BYFAR. I love that they have so many different toppings and I just think even the seasoning tastes better. The bread is one of my favs. too. Even if you don’t plan to come here often, still ask for a sub card because you get free food with your punch card.

Subway is better than Port of Subs… and I don’t really like Subway much. My sandwich was very blah… no flavor. And it was soggy… too much oil/vinegar. I got pastrami and you couldn’t even tell it was pastrami, it had that little meat and flavor. We got two other sandwiches too and nobody liked theirs.

Yey — finally a port of subs in Utah. I also grew up in Reno and this was what I always had for lunch in high school. Brought my co workers here and they were pleasantly surprised how yummy the sandwiches are. Their fresh bread, delicious meat and cheese and their mayo mustard sauce and oil vinegar and oregano are what truly makes the sandwiches here so much better than other sandwich shops.

On my way to Blimpie to get my fix, I spot Port of Subs out of the corner of my eye. What??? Another sub shop to give the overblown Subway some well-deserved competition? I’m in. The first thing I noticed is that, despite the time of day — 4:30 in the afternoon — there were three other parties happily enjoying subs in there. Good sign. Curious about the comments that my fellow Unilocalers had to say about a secret sandwich called The Michael, I responded to the friendly counter girl’s greeting by asking about it. Turns out it’s a steak-BBQ sauce deal, which really isn’t my thang, so I went with the 8″ Ham, Turkey and Provolone. As she was making my sandwich, explaining about their history, one of the ladies in the corner devouring her sub spoke up and said that she used to live in Reno, and now lives in West Valley. Once she found out there was a PoS* in Draper, she now drives up here twice a week to get her fix.(I get that. This is looking promising. I mean, no one would drive any sort of distance to get a… Subway, after all. Not that you’d have to; they’re as abundant as church buildings around here.) I selected their fine freshly-baked wheat bread option — thank you for offering that, PoS. They have their own mustard-mayo mix dressing, which I was happy to exploit for my pleasure; along with fresh chopped romaine lettuce(impressive!), red onions, sliced tomatoes, green peppers and jalapeño peppers. I don’t enjoy dill pickles, so I cavalierly dismissed that option when she suggested I try them. She said that she was also of the anti-dill-pickle persuasion, but happened to love these. Okay, I’ll try the dill pickle experience. She slapped one on, and finished it all off with a happy ending of oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, and oregano… because, that’s just what you do. I got the sandwich home and thoroughly enjoyed it, and a side of cheesy poofs. It was very good, and disappeared in a matter of 5 to 8 minutes. Tasty meats in respectable quantities, freshly sliced provolone cheese, and crispy fresh veggies! It even came close to rivalling my beloved Blimpie. I can see myself pinch-hitting every now and then to get a PoS… especially because they offer a rarely-heard-of 8 inch size, which will come in handy when I’m 2 inches hungrier than my usual 6 inch Blimpie. I gotta say… this is a worthy sub. Pull yourself into the Port and check it out for yourself. You just may find that you’re willing to drive by a few Subways to get it. *In the majority of reviews, I tend to abbreviate the name of any place by an eventual use of initials. Although I obviously haven’t broken format, I wanted to offer an explanation for the use of the abridgement«PoS» — there is certainly no negative nor controversial implication whatsoever. And yes, this was an afterthought.

This was my first visit to a Port of Subs. Overall, I was very impressed. Clean, nicely done décor, and friendly staff. We stopped in after the lunch rush, so there were plenty of places to sit. Three of us had different sandwiches and we were all very pleased with our selection. Everyone of us agreed that it was better than the Subway across the street. The wheat bun was very tasty. Plenty of meat and cheese on the sandwiches. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. I grabbed a frequent visitor card because I know I’ll go back.
