Came for breakfast after I went to gym. Martha C was our server. She was great. Very attentive, polite, professional, just a great server. I recommend you ask to be seated in her section. The place was packed to the ceiling with people and through it all Martha gave everyone of her customers the highest level of serve. Five stars for Martha.

Honestly, this is my one and only favorite Norms in all of So Cal.(I think they are only around this area anyway) Yes, sometimes there’s a crowd and you have to wait, but I don’t think I’ve ever waited longer than 30 min to be seated even on their busiest days. My one and all time favorite 2 things here are the PANCAKES! and GUMBOSOUP!!! I don’t care how they make the soup, it’s just simply delicious! Although, I always get skimped on the sausage in my soup I still really enjoy the overall flavor. Now the pancakes, move over IHOP and any other pancake place these pancakes are the bombizzy!!! I crave their pancakes often and wish I can lay in a bed of those fluffy deliciousness errrday! I understand their food is not top quality, and trust me I can be fancy and eat at the best steakhouses but norms really caters to all and at a reasonable price point. Their service is always great, very attentive and just overall nice waiters/waitress. I’ve been coming here since I was like 10 yrs old and now… well it’s been a few years… lol. Before the big reno they did and change of management we used to have issues at times with our food but ever since we have no complaints and always enjoy our visits. Thanks Norms!

Yikes! We just walked in at 12:10am and ordered 2 steak(medium well) and eggs specials with two waters and a cup of coffee… Cup of coffee still had lipstick on it from a previous custom. Asked for a replacement cup and was given a new cup with less lipstick on it… WTF? The food came out and the steaks were like beef jerky not medium well, but the eggs, hash browns and pancakes were good. Its 1:00am and the lipstick coffee was never refilled… And we’re still waiting… Oh wait here she comes! By the way, the coffee horrible too, and I’m still waiting for a refill on the free tap water. Maybe I’m not getting water because our waitress is is showing pictures and videos to some regulars… I guess we’re not as important as the regulars, but at least we got free WIFI! Woohoo! I was warned not to eat here but I didn’t believe it… Oh well live and learn, right? I won’t be coming back and I suggest you don’t either! Thank you waitress Si and host Aban!

Ok, so I’m here waiting for a table. It’s me and the hubsters. They call my name and I am asked if all my party is with me? Which… it’s a full house, and the hubsters is looking for parking as there isn’t spots, and people are waiting for a spot as well. Ms. LARRISA decided that since he’s not physically in the restaurant with me, she can’t sit me. I get a big party … for a party for 2??? We are getting the same size table. So if he’s outside, cause it’s too packed, and if it were just eating… or even both of us, why are you making me wait more? To top it off, if that is the policy here, just like all other restaurants, that notation should be posted somewhere. Larissa needs better manners, and needs to see that for a party for 2, it ain’t that serious!

5 stars for Norms? Yup! I have been coming to Norms for a few years now and the waiters have always been so wonderful. In particular, we usually sit in Si’s spot on Wednesday’s after church. We are a rowdy bunch, but she is always so sweet and attentive to us. We throw custom orders her way and she makes sure the kitchen gets it right, even before she serves us the food. Absolutely amazing service. We have also been in Letty’s section and she is just as great! The food is comfort food, and they basically have every type of food on the menu. They are open 24 hours and are a very clean restaurant. It can get really crowded Friday — Sunday, but we usually go mid week to avoid the crowd. I love that you can get breakfast for dinner! Brinner! Prices are great, so no complaints there. Thank you Si for your wonderful service and sweet smile! Our group always appreciates your service!

They’re getting one star for anything outside of the bigger better breakfast which my husband loves so well. Place looks like they don’t get to clean– perhaps that’s because they never close? Beef dip bread tasted stale and fries were cold. Shared with both server and cashier and neither offered any consolation. Do yourself a favor stick with the breakfast and you’ll give it more stars.

I will never go back to this location. Trouble makers in the parking lot make this a less than desirable place to be. I’m not looking to fight when I am out with my family for a meal. This place is not worth the hassle.

This place was seriously packed! For a table of 3 we waited about 30 minutes though. The overturn is really quick and I appreciated that. Process are very reasonable considering the large amount of food you get. Prices are comparable to Dennys. The service was on the mark for the amount of people; I was truly impressed with the staff. They helped each other and no table was in need. Now the food. The cooks think all eggs, no matter how you order, are to be done over easy. Oh my with the biscuits and gravy. Extremely salty and biscuits could pass for hockey pucks. I had the double loaded hash brown plate, which comes with two over easy eggs and your choice of toast, pancakes, or biscuits and gravy. The only saving grace to this plate was the hash browns were crispy and seasoned ok. The bacon that came on top was cooked perfectly and had a great smokey flavor. Over all, I would get them again but without the biscuts! My husband had t-bone steak and eggs, which were again over easy even though ordered scrambled. Steak was flavorless and overcooked. Pancakes were ok. Nothing to write home about. Over all, not worth coming back unless were really really bored.

This is the only Norms location that I’ve visited and I’ve only been here twice. I’d never been to Norms before because, well, it didn’t really catch my attention. Besides, there were other similar locations who offered almost the same menu at the same price much closer to home. I was finally convinced to go about 2 months ago and I enjoyed the service and the food. I forgot our waitresses name but she was constantly checking up on us and smiling as she served us despite dealing with a table of rude customers who were seated directly across from our table. Props to anyone who works as a waitress or waiter by the way. They get treated horribly for stuff that half the time isn’t their fault. Anyway, today I returned and I decided to go for a chicken, cheese, and bacon sandwich with a side order of fries. It was delicious and very filling. Salvador, the homer to my marge, ordered the classic burger and sure enough he devoured his plate. This Norms facility is clean and the parking lot seems to always be empty when I visit which is a plus for me. I’ve heard their busiest days are the weekends and holidays which is normal for a place such as this one.

All I am going to say is… I love NORMS breakfast! I am not a big fan of those fancy gourmet breakfast places since they are too neatly plated and overpriced. I do not mean that Norms just throws the food onto your plate without care but I just like my meals big and cheap. Out of all the popular 24/hour breakfast/lunch and dinner places, my favorite is Norms. Parking: The small parking lot by the entrance is always full but there is additional parking extending to the side back of the restaurant. I still have to stalk people like I do at Costco to get a good spot but you can definitely find parking with patience. Wait time to get seated: Always be prepared to wait at least 40mins until you get seated on the weekends. There really isn’t that much seating area for the waiting area. A lot of the customers stand by the door where the claw machines are which results in a lot of congestion. Cleanliness: They have carpet lining the dining are floors which I don’t find a good idea. Also, the tables are occasionally hap hazardly cleaned which results in the booths getting all the food particles(only happened once). Automatically gets two stars docked since the maintenance of the floors are no great. Server: The server usually greets you fairly quick after being seated and takes your drink orders. When he comes back from drinks, he/she will proceed to take your food orders. Wait time for the food: It averages about 15−20minutes from my experience. I have tried the bigger better breakfast and chicken fried steak meals. My husband always gets the French toast meal. The portions are big and definitely filling. The food is always fresh and delicious. I am normally not a big pancake fan but these guys really know how to make their hotcakes. Always fluffy/airy and delicious with butter and syrup. Even though the wait times are long, I will continue to come here for breakfast because it’s my favorite chain store.

Came by to have breakfast with a friend since it is closer to her residence. Located on the busy intersection of Firestone and Paramount Blvds, there is ample parking available. This location is in the process of remodeling and so far looks a bit more nicer than the once in Bellflower. Ordered the Sirloin Steak and Eggs special. The steak could have been cooked better, but everything else was good. Waitresses checked up on us the entire time while we were eating. Would come back again when I make my regular visits to Downey.

I typically don’t write reviews about restaurants like this on busy weekend nights, but I’ll make an exception for tonight. The food here is comfort food for me. Never had an issue with the quality of food or service until today. The food always hits the spot. Regardless of if its breakfast or dinner. The service today… I can’t say it was up to par like always. Originally wanted to give this place 2 stars but I added an extra star for the cute guy I got to look at who was waiting to be seated with us.

D-U-M-P!!! People either don’t know quality food or they don’t care because it’s cheap and they feel like royalty with a $ 15 steak. Either way, food sucked. Service was good. One other thing I want to mention is that for being known as a «breakfast place,» they don’t know how to cook eggs sunny side up. Kinda sad

After reading tons of one star reviews, I was interested to see what my own experience would be. I came at 3 in the morning, so the crowds of supposed ghetto people(whatever that means) were absent. There were only a few groups inside; they left before my food even arrived. I was the only one in the restaurant for a while. While debating in my head between New York steak and eggs, French toast, or the lumberjack breakfast, I ultimately decided on New York steak and eggs(which also came with French toast for a dollar more). I’m always curious to see how a steak turns out at a place that you probably should not order or expect to have good steak at. The New York steak was cooked as I requested, medium rare. A good chef can only cook the steak to the right doneness; he’s not choosing the cut. On the same token, an amateur could be given a prime filet to cook and overcook it. This Norms cook did his best with what he was given(probably a select, standard, or commercial grade New York strip). Considering the cut of meat he had to work with, he did really well. It was slightly under seasoned, so I simply added table salt. The French toast was good. I asked for sunny side up eggs(primarily because they look better in pictures), but they brought me over easy, which I actually prefer to eat. So I didn’t complain. I ate them. The eggs were okay(just your standard eggs, no more no less). The hash browns were standard as well. I visited the famed Original Pantry Café in Los Angeles recently. It’s sad to say that this Norms meal was better than Pantry, and a few dollars cheaper as well. My server was named Si, an older Asian lady. She was nice and prompt. I don’t understand all the negative reviews. Perhaps at the busy times service takes a hit. My experience was good and I would return in the future. I like the food here better than Denny’s. Tip: Ask for the $ 8.99 New York steak deal. I didn’t realize until halfway through eating that I paid $ 3 more for essentially the same meal.
