Came here this Saturday based on reviews from Unilocal after waiting 45 minutes for a place called Jonny’s Barber Shop to open up… which they never did.
Walked in, the girl asked if I wanted anyone in particular, and I said, «No, as long as they know how to cut hair.». There was one guy available… and he did a hack job on my head. I can cut my own hair, so ended up having to fix it after dropping $ 20 in here.
Are there any real barbers left in So Cal???

Awesome shop! Family atmosphere! Every time I go I walk out completely satisfied! All of the barbers are great! Eric, shawna, and David know what they are doing! I recommend the hot towel shave! Awesomeness!

Went to Downy Barbershop (or Kustom Kutz) on Sunday, November 22, in the afternoon. I was greeted by one of the barbers who told me to sign in telling me there was only 1 person ahead of me. There were 4 barbers working all cutting hair. Frank ended up being my barber and as he started working on my haircut I knew it was going to come out great. He spent a lot of time making sure the back and sides were going to come out very clean. He didn’t seem to be in a rush at all, making sure I was going to look my best. This was one of the best haircuts I received in a very long time. I’ll be coming back and asking for Frank to cut my hair again.

I brought my son here for the first time yesterday because it’s close to my house and I will definitely bring him back! The people were friendly, the wait was short and my son’s hair came out great. I like that they are open until 8:30 pm and they take Visa. Very convenient!

The only place where I don’t mind waiting for my bf. Football on tv and complimentary cookies I’m fucken sold. && my bf loved his haircut. Jerry did a great job. Fantastic customer service and appointments are available. Very friendly environment.

David is my go to guy. Eric and Shawna are awesome as well. Every time I go it’s packed so pay those extra bucks and make an appointment!

You get what you pay for.
The girl upfront talked too much I felt like she was distracted from cutting my hair.
No precision no real customer service I wouldn’t recommend this barber shop to anyone. I was asked multiple times what kind of haircut I wanted and that alone told me what the outcome was going to be. If you dont care much about how your haircuts come out then this is the place for you but if you do have some self respect avoid this place at all costs.

I get my haircut each week with Eric. Making a appt works best and is the way to go. His staff are always nice and polite. The great cuts, nice staff and tvs in shop makes each visit enjoyable. Best place to get a haircut

My son has been cutting his hair here since he was born, now he’s 3. Ask for Eric he’s great with kids and has patience if they move around. But recently my sin has cut his hair with David his past two times and he does a great job as well. So worth the money. I recommend to make an appointment since they’re always booked. They charge extra, but like I said it’s worth the money.

I’ve been cutting my hair with Eric for over a decade– great shop! I love the shop and all the people who work for him. It’s a great place to be any day of the week my only tip is to make a reservation!

I’ve been coming to Kustom Kutz for the last 5 years. Eric has one of the best crews and shops in Downey. I highly recommend to stop by and give him a try.

My husband and son have been going to Kustom Kutz since they opened eight years ago. The shop is a man cave. Big screen TVs and great laughs. Eric is a great barber and his new hire Maria is good as well. I recommend Kustom Kutz to friends and family.

The staff over at Kustom Kutz make everybody feel welcome, plus they do a great job cutting hair. Fair price and straightforward in their dealings.
Eric is the owner of the shop and my barber. I was glad to see him back in the shop after dealing with an injury he received playing basketball. Good thing Eric is a better barber than he is an athlete!

Not much of a negative review but, just my thoughts…
I been waiting since 8:26 in the morning and they are already booked, terrible…
Every time I get there this early in the morning I’m always the first one to get a cut. I love coming to this place. I’m always welcomed here the Barber (s) are hella cool decent price.
Its more convenient for me with my schedule. But today I got disappointed, sorry Eric.
Now I’m giving this other spot a shot closer to home, lets see how it goes.

Anthony is the most legit here. He definitely put in work on my dome. We were chatting it up the whole time and treats his cuts like art. He is the Pablo Picasso of Barbers. I would still come see him if I was completely bald and he would still make it look better. Major shout out to Anthony. Remember when you go in ask for Anthony he is not new to the game.

I rolled in and was skeptical. I’ve had my haircut at a couple different salons for the last 10 years and haven’t been to a barber since.
I needed my hair cut for an event last minute. This place is down the street from me and was recommended by a friend. I read the reviews and decided to call.
The only reason I’m not giving 5-​stars is because every where I read said that an appoint is best and when I called and asked, I was told the same. Appointments take the cost from $ 14 to $ 20. This is NOT a big deal and well worth not waiting but I came in and it was empty. Anthony saw me 30 mins early as he had no appointment before me or after so I didn’t really need to pay the extra cash and was charged for it anyway.
Anthony did a great job and Eric is super cool. I’m very happy and will be back for all my cuts.
I’ll try to roll in without an appointment and see what happens and then update this review.
I even called an hour later to tell them what a great job the did.

Love this place and well worth the wait! Not a bad barber here and always busy which is a good sign! Energy drinks foosball and people that care is a good combination. It’s cheap if you wait but worth the extra to make an appointment** it’s a new school shop with an on school vibe and they remember you (kinda like cheers but with no booze)

So I came to Kustom Kutz for a last minute hair cut. Also looking into finding a new place to continue getting a haircut at.
As I walked in to the barber shop, the first guy (don’t remember his name) was very helpful.
He had advised me that Chris will be with me shortly.
As I walked to sit down, the barber chris already did not look happy. Seemed as if he did not want to cut hair. Made me feel uncomfortable and not wanting to cut my hair.
When he had asked what kind of hair cut I wanted, he asked with an attitude. I had to repeat myself about 3 times.
On going with the hair cut, he did a very quick hair cut. One number all the way around except a 1 taper.
The haircut alone, was not the best service. He did not clean the me up at all. Not lineup, no sideburns trimming, nothing.
Then the haircut was done. Took no longer than 10 minutes.
The first time I seen chris smile, was when we walked to the cash register.
I personally, will NOT be coming back.
The barber Chris had poor customer service, and his attitude made me uncomfortable.
