City Life Deli

First of all this is not a deli. This is just a small sandwich shop. A true deli offers much more. The sandwiches are good. But a lot of the «other things» on the menu are flat out terrible. They have the worst salads. Who puts avocado on Greek salad? A real Greek salad duznt even have lettuce! Just because you dust that nasty white iceberg lettuce with some feta. You pop open a can of black olives & throw a handful on top. Duznt make it Greekish. They need a little work.

This place has been a family favorite for years! I absolutely love their egg sandwhich, with tomato, lettuce, pickles, on french bread and their tuna and lettuce with cheese on wheat bread. Very fresh! Also they make a chicken soup that comes with any meal, and it’s tasty! The staff are all family and they’re so sweet!

This is my offices favorite sandwich place! love that they deliver. They have great sandwiches and their Pastrami dip and Buffalo chicken sandwich is da best!!! oh and their chicken tortilla soup is amazing… small portion but still really good.

Awesome sandwiches. Very simple place. Don’t go expecting a fancy schmancy place, the décor is really bland, but luckily that doesn’t matter because their sandwiches are the opposite.
So why only the four stars ?! Well because I expect a lot from a five star place. This deli is perfect for a quick bite. If you’re looking for a cheap, quick, and delicious lunch I highly suggest giving this deli a try.

Love the sandwiches there. Bread is always fresh so are the sandwiches Owners are very nice. They deliver if your in Downey.

I love to order sandwiches from here. It’s fresh and they have a variety. They also deliver to my office all the time. I order the Chicken Salad Sandwich on Wheat Bred no toast, no mustard and eat the split pea soup! yum

I did not like the sandwich at all! Turkey tasted warm and not fresh. It was horrible. I went up the street and tried hall of fame deli and it is way better. Place was not clean, but the owners were friendly.

City Life has good lunch specials. The sandwiches are well made with fresh ingredients and their teriyaki chicken bowls are also good. The owners are friendly and they also deliver, which is convenient if you work in the area.

Great food, friendly staff, fast service. Downside, being in Downtown Downey means crowded during lunch time, and parking can sometimes be difficult. The staff is always friendly, and they don’t mind when my office places complicated orders, with all kinds of special requests. They even mark each sandwich with my coworkers names instead of just club on white, or BBQ on wheat.

I’ve been coming here for 16 years. Their various sandwiches are made-​to-​order and delicious. Their hot roast beef is a MUST TRY. Great people, very kind. I think they make their own pickles too.

Very friendly staff and impressively tasty sandwiches. Just walked in by chance and I’m very happy I did.

This place has great sandwiches. Not fancy – but well-​made and delicious.
My favorite sandwich is The Club: roast beef, turkey and ham with cream cheese. I get it on squaw bread. I also like the Tuna and Sprouts sandwich. Pretty standard selection of hot and cold sandwiches, chips, macaroni and potato salad, and soup. The chicken noodle is outstanding!
Service is always fast and friendly. They really make an effort to make you feel like a valued customer. One day, I only had a card with which to pay, and they did not accept cards, so I offered to run across the street to my bank to get cash. The owner insisted that I eat my sandwich, not worry about the money, and just pay her next time I came in. You don’t find service like that in very many places these days.
When I want a tasty deli sandwich at record speed served by some of the nicest people around, I stop at City Life.
Also, try their chicken Teriyaki: quite delicious.
Oriental Chicken salad is pretty amazing, too, and served with garlic bread.

i love city life sandwiches! :) way better than subway or togo’s! the owners are very friendly and welcoming! you pick your sandwich then you get to pick your bread! they even have squaw (prairie) bread! lots of fresh fixins for your sandiwch too! sandwiches are served with mini sides of macaroni or potato salad! store bought but good. lots of chips to choose from! they also have those big cheesecakes and cakes from costco. pretty good. :) if you’re in downey and feel like a good sandwich try city life!
