Let me begin by saying my first experience with Ray O’herron was back in 2013 before I was in the academy. At this time, it was extremely hard to get firearms and ammunition, so I called about 3 weeks before I started the academy and spoke with Jerrod, who placed a Glock 17 on hold for me under the condition that I pick it up within a month. So, I agreed, but I didn’t receive the affidavit from my department to purchase the firearm until a month and a half later, so I went into the store assuming that the firearm Jerrod placed on hold for me had been sold and I’d be on my own attempting to find an approved weapon, as they had no more in stock. To my surprise, they still had the weapon he had placed on hold for me and I was all set! From that day forward, Ray O’herron earned my business. I’ve since purchased a lot of gear/firearms here and have never been disappointed. Great prices for LEO/Military. The only negative is a few staff members can be a bit rude sometimes, but the majority of the staff is great.

The only reason to go to RO is because they have good pricing on duty — approved firearms. That and it being the authorized uniform store for a bunch of departments is all that keeps them in business. Where they fall short, way short, is customer service. If you call, they may not answer. If you want to talk to the gun counter, you’ll probably have to leave a message these days and they won’t call back. Go speak with them in person and they’ll be very condescending. I’m an informed consumer. Waiting, sometimes without a line, to be helped by half informed salesman is the norm for gun stores these days, I guess. The lady usually at the register is always very nice though.

Went back today to pick up my gun and I still had 30 mins before I was able to take possession. We sat at the counter and Andrew, who helped us before, sat and talked with us. When I took possession Andrew took the time to help show me some pointers about my gun. Even though the store was closing. He said that he wanted to make sure I was comfortable with gun even though they were close. Thank you Andrew for your help!

These guys at the cop shop know their stuff! Great selection too. It’s worth the trip in from the City.

Fantastic selection of apparel for all your law enforcement and casual shooting needs. They also contain a decent amount of firearms i.e. handguns(mostly Glock) and rifles and other gun accessories. The staff here is always welcoming/friendly and extremely helpful to all civilians and or law enforcement officials.

So, I am in law enforcement. I have 15 years ‘on da job’, so I’ve been to my share of gun shops. I am also a girl. Much like the condescension women face with a trip to the mechanic, gun dealers can be patronizing a**holes for lack of a better word. I don’t profess to be a firearms expert, but I make a point to know my chosen firearm, as well as research the one I intend to purchase. Unlike my experience 15 years ago at Ray O’Herron, my recent visit to the beautiful new Downers Grove location was absolutely perfect. I was treated courteously & professionally by every employee in the place. The prices are very competitive. I think Ray O’H is the only cop store that is figuring out they need to adjust their prices to be competitive with Amazon and other online vendors. Definitely worth the drive.

Pretty much a one-stop shop for your police and public safety equipment needs. Uniforms, boots, guns, ammo, accessories… they’ve got it. Among other qualifications, they’re an Authorized Service Center for Streamlight, making any flashlight repairs(under warranty) quick and hassle-free. Price-wise, certain store accessories can get expensive, pushing me towards the internet more oft than not. But whenever I’m in a pinch, it’s the place to go, no doubt. One complaint if I may, some, not all store employees, get quite the air about them once they get their Glock Armorer’s certificate(LMAO). Colleagues, myself included, have taken notice to the obvious self-importance and pretentiousness of certain staff. Thanks for providing a great service O’Herron’s! Just don’t forget you’re not the only Police Supply store in the world…
