Nope. No more. I’ve put up with the high prices because of their convenience but I am so sick of sales where there is a minimum purchase required(but not visibly marked). If you’re going to require me to buy 5 of something to get the sale price then that stipulation should be written as large as the sale price itself.

I love new items. The microwaveable sweet potatoes 10 for $ 10 was worth me trying. So, I bought one. I purchased some other things of course. I’m not good enough to buy one item and go. lol… Concord pears were on sale for .99/lb, grabbed a few of those. And the gluten free section is MUCH bigger than my neighborhood Jewel, so I spent some time checking out what was on the shelves and of course. grabbed a few more items. Got to the check out counter and the cashier was super friendly… she was so friendly. I realized that she can’t be friendly and check groceries at the same time. it was one or the other. Glad I wasn’t in a hurry. Also, she rang my pears up as Bartlett, which was more expensive so I informed her. She also rang my sweet potato up as a per pound item in lieu of an item as a quantity. The total price of the potato came to .79 instead of the 1.00. I didn’t notice that mistake until I got home and looked at my receipt when unpacking my groceries. Being friendly is good. losing money for the store not so much. Back in the day, when I was a checker, we had to memorize produce codes. they are printed right on the fruit for the new age checkers. USETHEM. As it relates to the sweet potatoes, they are wrapped. That change should have warrantied the checker to take a quick glance at the item. If this was done, then the checker would have seen the UPC code and known to then scan the item. Store always get new items. walk around and get familiar with them. Start with the produce and grocery departments. as they typically have the most changes. GOODNEWS. I microwaved my sweet potato and it was amazing so much so that I went to my own Jewel and took advantage of the 10 for $ 10.

Be patient. Service is terribly slow, particularly at the deli. You would think that the staff is compensated based on the length of time it takes them to fill an order. Very frustrating.

Price on the shelf was a dollar lower. When asked about it was told the ad shows a price of 4.99 for 1 or 2. Wouldn’t let me buy 1 at 3.99. Really? You have no ads and should honor your single item price. I don’t like dishonesty … especially when there are so many other grocery stores around.

I ordered a strawberry yellow cake for a birthday. I was charged $ 4.00 for extra strawberries. The cake was dry and there were no strawberries but a jam fillings. The fried chicken at their deli should be called fried pigeon. I never saw such small pieces. I’m sorry Dominick’s closed the quality was much better. I will never shop here again!!!

remind me not to come here. Super expensive everything, and two check out lanes open. waiting for the lady in front of me… took 5 cashiers to figure out turkey was free with ham, after 10 min, without explanation the cashier leaves. I was ready to walk out. At my boiling point. Will never go back. pineapple $ 3(sale!), Westbrook 1.99 avocado $ 1.50, westbrook .79cents rotisserie chk $ 6.99 wow! just a few examples, stopped at Westbrook for my bananas .39 not .69 a pound, and my potatos. a whole bag of red potatos $ 1.99.

Last resort kind of place. Really expensive and the bathrooms are gross.

I have been shopping here for 12 years and the service and quality of the store has degraded over time. First the liquor department used to have a nice cordial lady providing samples on Thursday-Saturday. Now it is cold and the selection is limited compared to the Jewel on Ogden & Cass in Westmont. The store began a remodel but it was only a partial as the ceiling is still old and does not compare to the Westmont store. There is a lady with dark curly hair at the meat counter who is rude and cold. She would rather argue with you than help you. I was in the store yesterday and for Christmas Eve«Judy» was rude and unprofessional. She snatched my coupons out of my hand without a hello, said«we do the coupons sir» in a mean voice and told me I did not put my donut in the bag after scanning it. She failed to look in the second bag I had and when I pointed the location of the donut out to her she rolled her eyes. There are many other choices in the area and I only go to this Jewel because it is close by. Product selection has diminished too as they do not carry many of the products they used to such as Pizza Puffs and chicken wings. Otherwise I am more than happy to go to the Westmont store(which is a much better managed store and superior product selection) even though it is father from my home. The prices at the 63rd& Main street store store tend to be 10% higher than Ultra-Foods and the staff is much less friendly. I often find products at the Westmont Jewel marked less than the DG store. Go figure…

— Good place to go for your fresh meats. — Produce is hit or miss(and quite expensive, too). — Nice greeting cards and flower selection. — A wide selection of deli meats and cheeses. — Although a little pricey, they have good bakery items for when company is coming.

Better than your average Jewel but still a Jewel. Nice layout and selection — vast improvement over the previous prior to renovation. But, I only go to Jewel if my other mainstay stores are not open(Amici, Brookhaven, Michael’s Fresh Market, Jim’s Quality Meats or Lemon Tree). Just like Dominick’s, produce is not great and is usually on the cusp of turning bad(never buy anything you are not going to use that day or the next). Meats have gone down hill a lot from the days when Jewel was known for great meats. Self-checkout is a nice alternative but it is a last resort for me and something I need not do at other places. I believe that really sums up Jewel pretty well.

being the easiest choice from where i live for whatever i need, i usually go to jewel. i’m not happy with the fact they’re not 24 hours anymore, but oh well. this place is usually very clean, and the cashiers(most of them anyway) won’t keep you waiting in line for ages.

Definitely the best one-stop-shopping place in the Westmont/DG area. I’ve always hated Dominick’s(their prices are seriously just way too high), so we’ve always been«Jewel People.» This Jewel carries everything and the deli, meat and bakery counters have friendly staff and anything you can imagine in terms of food. This store was remodeled in 2006 and it’s better than ever. The layout is much nicer, the liquor section much larger, and now there’s a drive-thru pharmacy. Can it get any better? The staff is also always friendly and they know where everything is, so you can always find what you’re looking for. Yes, I used to work here(back when I was in HS), so I know everyone and I know that the whole staff is friendly. This is definitely a better place to shop than the Dominick’s down the street, especially now that Jewel has their own line of organic products.

Seeing that Iive across the street from here, it’s pretty much all I need for grocery shopping, and I can walk there! In the suburbs, imagine that. I can walk there. I grew up in a «Dominick’s» family, and I guess had the mentality that Dominick’s was better than Jewel. Some people still say that. I think it’s a load of crap. This Jewel was remodeled about 2 years ago(the old one was a hole, it was really kind of gross), so it still looks brand new. It’s very clean, the people are all very friendly, and it has a drive-thru pharmacy(sweet!). AND a RedBox DVD. Jacqueline is right, they have great produce. I don’t really have any miffs about this place, except sometimes I think the TCF people should be selling used cars, they stand in the aisle and talk to people, I always pretend I’m looking at the aisle signs in the opposite directions :)
