I guess for Douglasville, this place is probably worth 4 stars. The sushi is okay, but not out of this world. The prices are on the high side. Update: My girlfriend and I went to Sakura tonight, and it was a disappointment. The food was mostly okay, but that’s about it for positive comments. The service was slow, my chicken was overcooked and dry, and the portions on hibachi were small. Another thing, they charge $ 1.50 to have fried rice instead of steamed, and they won’t let you have extra rice instead of vegetables. I’ve never been to a Japanese restaurant that wouldn’t allow for that substitution. With Tokyo’s Daruma Japanese Steakhouse, a tepanyaki restaurant, right down the road, I would think that the owners of Sakura would make an effort to please.

The food is great! However the staff are down right rude. Service as always slow and would it hurt for the owner to actually smile ! Have been here several times and the food was fantastic but I just can not go back due to the terrible service

This place is conveniently located in Douglasville not far from the mall. It’s clean and the staff was nice but a little standoffish. My daughter and I ordered the tiger roll, fried California roll, and a side of chicken & shrimp noodles. The plus, the sushi rolls were huge but other than that everything was just OK. If you’re dying to have sushi and you’re in the area then give this place a try. I warn you, don’t go out of your way to go here it’s not worth the drive.

The food was not good and in the end they stole from me. They charged someone else’s bill on my credit card, as well as my bill. They refused to issue a credit until they got their money from the other person. They are thieves.

Affordable, great tasting food, great service, not crowded… what is not to like!!! Hibachi Steak — — On Point. Sushi… On Point! California Rolls — filling… on point! Grilled Salmon — fantabulous… on Point!!! Soup Noodles as big as works, slugs!!! If you are a fan of Japanese and live in the area, you are surely missing out. As far as other reviewers who had a bad experience… sucks for them. Overall: A+

I was wavering between two and three stars, but then settled on two when I saw that it equates to a response of «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» versus«A-OK» for three stars. I hate to give hard-working local businesses a bad review, but on the other hand, if they care about their business, hopefully they will use it to improve. Firstly, the sushi. I’m shocked at how many people have given this place 5 stars or even suggested that the sushi is delicious. The sushi is A-OK(a solid three stars on a good day), but if you’re a true lover of sushi, you will be disappointed. Secondly, the salad. I loathe mayo, and I about gagged when I tasted their«ginger» salad dressing that is evidently mayo with a spritz of ginger flavor. I was really disappointed when the owner argued with me that mayo is a standard ingredient in California Rolls and ginger house salad dressing by national standards. No. It isn’t. In their defense, I’ve sadly learned that mayo-based ginger dressing is common throughout the South. Thirdly, the tempura. Worst I’ve ever had. Don’t order it. The rest of the food is ok. Fourthly, the service. Not great. Usually very slow, definitely not with a smile. I want to like this place. I really do. It’s cute enough inside, and I’d love to have a delicious, local sushi place. But there’s something(or several somethings) that just don’t sit well with me here, and the truth is, I’d sooner drive 30 minutes to Atlanta or go sit in the empty Golden Buddha than go here.

This place had good reviews so a friend and I decided to try it. I’m giving this place 2 stars for the less than mediocre service. When we walked in the waitress told us to choose whatever seat we wanted. There was one other party of 6 and then while we were waiting for our food, a family of 4 came in. ***Service***: The waitress didn’t seem happy when she greeted us, in fact, there was no greeting, just a «choose whatever seat you want». People have bad days, whatever. It didn’t take too long for her to come by and ask us what we wanted for drinks. When she took our order, we had some questions about the specials that day and she was very curt. The restaurant doesn’t seem to be too flexible with people’s desires. We wanted a substitution for the philadelphia roll and nowhere on the menu did it say«No Substitutions for lunch». So for people who still want to try it out: THEREARENOSUBSTITUTIONS for lunch… My friend and I were put off because their philadelphia roll didn’t automatically come with avocado but with cucumber instead. We weren’t a fan. When the food came out, we had one fork wrapped in one napkin, a pair of chopsticks, and 2 drinks with straws. My meal came with miso soup, a salad, and a chirashi bowl. Where was my spoon? Where was my friend’s chopsticks and/or fork? Where were our napkins? We had to ask for all those things. The waitress just put them down and walked away. Ok… thanks… ***Food*** It wasn’t so bad. I’ve definitely had a lot better. The rice was good in the chirashi bowl. The tuna tasted old and weird. I didn’t eat it. The ono was really delicious. Quantity of food was medium, not as large of sashimi pieces as I’ve had from other places. Philadelphia roll was eh. Didn’t love their interpretation(cucumber instead of avocado) of what is supposed to be a pretty basic/generic roll. Also, our sprite was flat. How often does that happen?! We were so put off by the unhelpful waitress we just tried to ignore it. We didn’t feel like making her day worse off than it already seemed… But really, you shouldn’t make your customers feel that way. Ever. Overall, the food is fine, it’s normal priced, I didn’t leave happy though because of the«eh» service.

Food is great, service is great as well! Ask for the special sushi menu, they have some amazing special roll options on there. The only problem with this place is trying to decide which rolls to order because they are all so delicious. If you like unagi, theirs is fantastic.

Absolutely delicious ! I am glad to have found this gem of a place. Dynamite, shrimp tempura, crab crunch, spicy Tuna, fried California roll all A +. Love this place… Small local sushi spot. Reminds me of the places I first started eating sushi at back in Florida. I will be back for their lunch specials! Great value !

Probably the best sushi option for douglasville. Place is pretty small. The lunch specials are good and you get a lot for your prices. The servers are pretty dry and not very welcoming.

I love this place… it’s definitely our go to place when we eat out. Can’t beat the great, fast service and delicious sushi. Great prices. Two adults can eat for around $ 50 with a glass of wine and sushi.

Good Sushi BAD service. I stopped here last Thursday around 2pm starving. I travel everywhere for work and I love sushi so I get to try lots of places. This place was packed so I thought that was a good sign until I realized it was because of the slower than a dinosaur service. I ordered a volcano and a shrimp tempura roll. A waitress who was different than the lady who took my order threw the shrimp tempura roll on my table and scampered off. I was starving so I ate it quickly. It was comparable to the quality you find in Atlanta. The problem was my check then came out and the waitress never asked about my food. I told her I was missing a roll and instead of apologizing she blamed the chef… When my roll came out it tasted like it was drenched in mayonnaise not good so I ate a few bites then paid my tab. I wouldn’t go back just because of the slow and rude service.

Maybe for Douglasville this place is the bomb, but coming from California, I’ve had much(much) better sushi at much(much) better prices. We went there on recommendation(I really wanted to love it) and it was tasty and most certainly did the job for our sushi craving, but I can’t see myself going back there simply based on cost alone. Easy parking, nice server and cute interior.

The Sushi was really good. Now for the service! It was unbelievable how terrible it was. Very small place. Would probably get more attention if the customer service didn’t suck! However my sushi was very fresh and well put together.

Finally. A glimmer of hope for sushi in Douglasville, Ga. I thought I might go insane if I didn’t find a place soon. It was a busy lunch when I went yet I still got my sushi in a timely manner and it was so good. Can’t wait to go back and try more. Prices were completely reasonable and not expensive at all in my opinion.

This place is small but intimate. It is not on the more busy or more popular part of this town but it’s still do-able. The food was good and the price reasonable. Their menu is like most Sushi bars with the different kinds of rolls and such, but what I truly like is the ambiance. It is not too big and I would say a good place for a date :) I usually make my own sushi and sashimi at home but every now and then, I would like for them to make it for me :)

I have eaten here once for Lunch and once for Dinner. Both experiences were pretty disappointing. — Lunch — I ordered Steak(medium) and fried rice * Prices are decent * Steak was way overcooked and dry * white sauce was decent * Portions were good for price — Dinner — I ordered Streak(medium) and fried rice. The meal included salad and vegetables * Way overpriced! My meal was $ 20 and there isn’t even a show. I understand paying $ 20-$ 30 at a Japanese steak house because you’re paying for a show too, but $ 20-$ 30 is way too much with no show! * Steak was once again, overcooked and dry * White sauce was decent, not the best i’ve had * Portions were good for price * NO Sorbet! What’s with that? I pay $ 20 and I don’t get sorbet?! I have heard the sushi is very good, but if you are going for steak and fried rice go somewhere else. Sakura is overpriced and not very good. The service was also super slow.

That awkward and devastating moment when you’re almost at the end of your meal and you find a hair in your salad. *gag* I guess that’s what I get for eating sushi in Douglasville, Georgia. *shrug* However, hair in my salad notwithstanding, the rolls here are lackluster. Not sure if it’s the quality of fish in Georgia, but I wasn’t impressed. I will say they have the most delicious house soup I’ve ever had, but again there was a hair in my salad. *runs off to vomit*
