We didn’t eat here, however we did drive an hour to come eat here because we heard it was good just to find out that they weren’t open despite Unilocal, their website and Facebook all displaying that they open at 10 for brunch on Sunday’s … All it would have taken is a Facebook post pinned to the top– or someone taking the time to change the open hours online. This is not how business works– if you say you are open, be open.

This might be the place you would think of for a carry out. But while visiting Douglas and stay near by, we try it. We have a puppy which goes everywhere with us. Sadly Michigan doesn’t like dogs in outdoor eating areas. Now about our meal to go. I ordered there Salmon which is roasted, there dinner special of the night. Stuffed Sole which had shrimp inside. Both were Awesome. The gentleman said I might need to heat items up. When I got back where were staying which I walked, about 10minutes. Both were still warm, not hot. But they were perfect. Also had the salad with pear. For me too much cheese, but I was so impressed with our two hot entrees it didn’t matter. Next time were in Douglas I’ll be eating from here again. Thank You for Our Wonderful dinner to go.

Pleasant enough, but overpriced. The menu over-promises a mostly bland meal.

I always find myself coming back whenever I am in town. The service is good, the people are nice and it’s just a fun vibe in a somewhat quirky establishment. Great place for drinks and listening to music in the piano lounge or come for a full dinner. The food is a little hit or miss at times certain dishes more creative and well done than others but overall well prepared. It defiantly caters to be more old school meat and potatoes style of food and could use a little update on their menu offerings. They don’t offer many vegetarian offerings and the one they have on their menu was a vegetable platter. Come on guys you can do better than that(offer a veggie burger or something creative it’s not that hard). Thankfully I asked and our waitress talked to the chef and he prepared a wonderful southwestern pasta dish with a Spicy cream sauce and fresh vegetables. Nicely done chef!

Great location and very interesting looking inside, but that’s about as far as it goes. My friend and I went recently and got martinis at the bar, since they are apparently known for having great martinis. The menu stated our dirty martinis would be made with Beefeaters Gin, however we watched him pour well gin, which was insane considering the price of their martinis. We got a total of 4 drinks, all of which the bartender messed up on and had to remake, though we were his only customers at the bar and there was no one else in the restaurant, however he did provide for some nice conversation. Food was just okay, nothing special whatsoever. We ordered a side of their jalapeño garlic aioli to try, it was mostly mayonnaise with possibly a little bit of garlic salt sprinkled over it. Cool location but they have a lot of work to do.

Had a wonderful dinner that included appetizers, salad, entrée and desserts. Everything was delicious, but the real stars were our waitress Aliessa and the Martinis! They have a large list of specially Martinis that were great! We also tried their brunch with the bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary bar. I am not a fan of bloody mary’s so I had mimosas. The others had the Bloody Mary bar and raved on how good it was with options for everyone. Again the food was great and the staff was amazing. I would go back any time I am in Douglas.

First let me say that our server, Star, was amazing. However that is where the good things ended. Food was mediocre at best. Sea scallops were clearly frozen and over cooked. The filet was cooked very well but also only an OK meal… We spoke to the manager, Jeff(or Jim maybe) who proceeded I be a condescending prick and insult us by saying ‘nobody else complained tonight’ what?!? That’s your answer. Basically, don’t waste your time or money… we still paid almost 100 $ for absolutely nothing because they refused to compensate us in anyway.

Such an amazing meal, flawlessly executed! We had a four course dinner with 6 people. Our server Alliesa made us feel like a guest in her own home and even spent a little time getting to know our group. We arrived a little early after making a reservation on Unilocal. We were graciously seated at a table that appeared to be waiting for us. One of the owners(or managers?) Jim was very attentive and also made us feel welcome and cared for. He stopped by a few times, which really made us feel appreciated. Our group had a few appetizers. The smoked fish dip was wonderful, potato croquettes were amazing and the seared Ahi tuna was unbelievable. Best of all, we were washing these down with perfect Martinis! Zing specializes in jumbo martinis that are top notch. There are over 20 on the menu! Our entrees; steaks, lobster, shrimp, and Salmon, each came out perfectly prepared and exactly as ordered! To conclude the meal we ordered crème brûlée, salted caramel cheese cake, and THEBEST baked/fried caramel apple thing(served in a martini glass) that was unbelievable. The crème brûlée had heavy notes of REAL vanilla bean, and was truly exemplary!(A fresh strawberry on the side would be great) this was our second experience at Zing in the last year. We will definitely be back! This place is worth going outside the ordinary(just a little) compared to the other places in Douglas and Saugatuck. Consider it a destination meal, and you won’t be disappointed!

Nice to have a spot with the kitchen open till ten. It’s a bit spendy for what it is– Three shrimp and a couple of skinny avocado slices for nine bucks… Enjoyed the garden salad, nice to not see the typical iceberg the midwest is known for.

Reservation for 6 on July 3. Waited over 1 ½ hours for food. Food was adequate but nothing special. Orders were served in wrong order or incorrectly, we were not notified what was happening. Waitress ignored us. When complaints(ours and 2 other tables) were brought to the owner’s attention his response was to ignore us in an dismissive way. Later he admitted they were short staffed because he had not planned on extra business on the busiest day of the year for restaurants in Douglas. Unless you see new favorable reviews avoid this restaurant.

Had a great time at Zing Eat Drink. Very good food. Attentive service. The owner came to our table and explained *with lively passion* about the wonderful features of their menu. Would definitely go back next time I’m in Saugatuck.

The rebirth of the Blue Moon, not quite. Better than most in the area. Spotty service. Cosmos do not achieve that thin layer of shaved ice in a frosted glass; instead are a room-temperature concoction of sweet syrup reminding me why I shouldn’t drink. When the taste of the cocktail competes with its therapeutic value, a star has to be removed. Yet I will leave this at four stars. Where else are you considering going? Wild Dog? I think not.

Restaurant was understaffed for holiday weekend. When we constructively complained owner was defensive. Owner should have staffed kitchen to be prepared and taken responsibility.

Stopped there on Saturday, March 21st. We arrived close to or at 9:00pm, but they were glad to accommodate us. Service was great and my wife said that her hamburger may have been the best she’s ever had. Even my 14 year old daughter even said she enjoyed the atmosphere. Hope to try it when we’re not so rushed.

Well, if it was based just on the food I would give this place a 5 star review! However the service was terrible! Our waitress was very inattentive, rude, snotty, and not at all personable! She gave us dirty looks the whole night and ignored us when possible. She was also not at ALL knowledgeable about ANY of the menu items. We asked several questions about some of the menu items(it was our first time there) and she knew NOTHING! This restaurant is pretty expensive and I would even go as far as saying a bit uppity. I don’t mine pricey food as long as it is good(which it was) but I will not tolerate attitude from people because you don’t fit the mold of what looks like«wealthy». I would NOT go here ever again solely based on the terrible service!

We just ate here on 12⁄27. New menu items were definitely 5-star. We started with the fried Brussels sprout appetizer. Very inventive/thoughtful dish… the raspberry vinaigrette/finely chopped pecans and fried cheese curds that enhanced this dish were a wonderful surprise! Broccoli-Cheddar soup was excellent as well. A nice balance of richness while not being thick and gloppy. Also was gluten-free. Pistachio-crusted Tilapia was the Catch of the Day, and cooked perfectly. The Pearl Couscous on the side was an excellent option vs. heavier potatoes. Also came with mixed vegetables and my only complaint(very minor one) is that I would have liked a larger portion of these. Also ordered the mac & cheese and added lobster for an extra $ 6. Truly well done… a nice-sized portion with plenty of lobster throughout and the white sauce was like my moms(yes, this is a good thing!). If you like martinis, this is a great place for you. The largest we have seen in the area and always well done. Service from host to server was excellent. Very nice live jazz music in the bar where we ate… nice background, while not being too loud to enjoy conversation with our friends.

I haven’t written a review in a long time, but after my experience at Zing, I felt as though I needed to. I visited this restaurant on 10÷17÷14. A friendly hostess quickly seated us in the bar area. Service was a bit slow from the start, but nothing terrible. We ordered the smoked whitefish dip as an appetizer. The dish looked great and tasted great, until I pulled a short black hair out of my mouth. I told the server, she huffed, rolled her eyes and without saying anything to me, grabbed the plate off the table and walked away. My boyfriend asked if she was annoyed with me or with the situation, to which I wrongly assumed was the situation. The server proceeded to bring out a fresh whitefish dip which we ate entirely, and thought the meal was turning around. When our entrees arrived, the scallops that I ordered came out overcooked and black. As I proceeded to take my second bite, ANOTHERHAIR was sticking out of one of the scallops. Never in my life have I had an app and entrée with hair in it. I flagged down a man I assumed was the manager and told him that now both of my dishes had hair in them. Extremely annoyed by my telling him this, he ripped the plate off the table, and stormed away without a single apology or acknowledgment of the situation — and then never came back. The server came back five minutes later and said«I didn’t understand, so do you want a new scallop dish or not?» to which I replied«I do not want to eat anything else here». Still, no apology or even embarrassment that every dish they served had hairs in them. Even worse than no apology, they were irritated by me pointing out that they are serving food with HAIR. I have never been treated this way in a restaurant. I was appalled and frankly shocked by the food and lack of service. If this were my restaurant, I would have been apologizing profusely and would have been beyond embarrassed. That is unless this happens frequently here so they just don’t care.

Zing! has a very fun looking atmosphere. Campy but nice inside. The service was prompt and friendly. We had the lobster mac and cheese which was AMAZING. All the tables around us were jealous of our order. There was enough for 2 meals we had leftovers. The appetizers, soups etc were also really good. Nice Atmosphere, good food, good service. I am a fan!!! Very convenient to the Douglas Dunes resort too. Walking distance. Go with friends!

The best part about Zing’s is their outdoor patio and their wide variety of sangria pitchers. However, their menu prices compare to some of the top tier steak restaurants in Chicago. $ 37 for a filet mignon in Douglas Michigan? What? That’s the same price as Chicago Cut in chicago where the Obama’s eat every time they are in town. I got a steak with seafood on it, it was tastey, but the texture was kind of bad, and the presentation even worse. This place could be much better, I think it needs a menu overhaul. Where are the $ 12 fish tacos? Or how about a wide variety of fish choices instead of just Salmon and 1 other special. How about some good soup options. Maybe a lobster roll?
