Glad we tried out this place. Came at a good time and didn’t have to wait. Knowledgeable wait staff answered my husband’s questions about the beer selection. He opted for the Mandarin IPA which he liked. It was supposed to be a double IPA, but he didn’t think it was too much compared to other doubles he’s tried before. On a sidenote, this was the second time we came to a place in the area known for beers and we never got a beer menu. Kind of strange, but luckily the waitress knew enough about the beers. She did offer to get one for him to look at, but the hostess who seated us should have known to do this especially since it’s a brewery. As for food I had the smoked brisket sandwich with parmesan fries and it was a huge portion. The brisket did have a good smoky flavor and the best part was the cheese. The bread was soft and tasty. Wish it had more onions and peppers though. The chicken Caesar salad was also good. We tried ordering the brownie sundae but they ran out of the gelato. Oh well, got dessert elsewhere, but our waitress was really efficient and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Abdul and Sarah were great servers/bartenders. Beer was great. They let your sample anything first. Looking forward to going back.

I came here for an event with Holland Girls Pint Out. I have been drinking and enjoying their beer for some time now, so it was a long over due visit. For some reason I had them pegged as being downtown Saugatuck but maybe just because it is their name. The space is very large. Inside it is a very relaxed atmosphere filled with their labels and memorabilia. The Event Coordinator, Megan, gave us an excellent tour of their facilities. They have a huge banquet room, which was actually rented out so we couldn’t see it but from the peek I could see a lot of dart boards which is fun! The brewing space in the back of the building is large and impressive — they have actually out grown it and are looking to buy land around the building to build out. Their brewing and bottling system is impressive. A great addition to the facility is that they rent out another portion to people who want to brew their own beer. For a fee you can come in a brew your own beer. Giving ideas as to which style you want to beer, recipe inspiration, Saugatuck helps you to create your recipe, supplies the ingredients(unless it is something pretty specific or outlandish than you can bring it yourself), bottles to take your beer home in, a unique label you create yourself, etc. A very unique experience that isn’t offered at many other breweries. I order the Brussels Sprouts appetizer which was just okay. I like my sprouts a lot crispier and these weren’t crispy at all — just my personal preference. A friend of mine go a steak salad and she said it was outstanding. Others around me, enjoyed their food too. And of course we all loved the beer! I had the Maple Blueberry Stout which taste just like a blueberry pancake — literally.

Inedible side dish of uncooked Brussels sprouts and dried our fries came with our chicken grilled over bed of romaine. Service an after thought. Sat on porch which was nice but could have enjoyed my own patio.

We came just for the food and not the beer. We each ordered the veggie burger which is new on the menu. Actually they have always had a veggie burger but they changed it from a well formed premade patty to a more homemade sloppy loose patty that was deep fried and disgusting. So much for trying to eat healthy. This thing had more oil then Texas. And the fries-yuck soggy and salty and very oily. Thanks but no thanks!!!

I have been a customer of this establishments for years, until today. The very ignorant manager tried to tell me that it’s against the law for me to bring in Cheerios and cut fruit for my one year old child with a severe dairy allergy. I explained that I would love to be able to order chicken strips and fries off the menu however that’s just not an option for us. Would she like to be responsible if my child had an anaphylactic reaction bc the kitchen cross contaminated a knife while preparing her food? Also I work in the food inspection industry and no where in CFR110 or the 2009 Michigan modified food code does it state that I can’t provide food to my child in their establishment. I also asked her if their«policy» not law, applied if I had given my child a bottle of formula instead? She said that would also apply. Or better yet, would she have preferred I let my child scream while I ate my dinner and gave her nothing? Note to all those with children out there who are in my situation, this in not the place to go for a meal. Unfortunately they have lost our business forever.

Great beer, good food and service, chill vibe… first time there and had the fish and chips along with a few beers. A must stop if in Saugatuck, at least for a beer.

A-OK about states it for Saugatuck Brewing Co. This was more of a restaurant than a brewery, which was a little disappointing I was hoping to get a tour and learn about their brewing process. Service here was very slow and not very friendly and most importantly I just didn’t feel that their beers were anything special. Craft Beers are all the rage now, and Saugatuck didn’t have any beers that I felt were really that great. They do have a live band after 6:00pm which is pretty cool though!

This is my third time here. Tonight I had the shrimp Po boy with chips and it was very flavorful. To go with dinner I had aBackyard IPA and a Starburst wheat. The Backyard is a lighter IPA which is good for pairing with food and the wheat was very good with a great aroma.

Truly some of the best beer in MI. The Neopolitan Stout and Back Yard IPA are highly recommended. They were out of bottles of Neopolitan though which was half the reason I came. Food is good(Parmesan fries!) and Tarra was a great server. Go next door first and buy some antiques and SBC will give you 10% off your bill.

Saugatuck Brewing Company is located in the beautiful Saugatuck /Douglas area, near Lake Michigan. Whenever I visit I make a point to take the back roads due to the never-ending beauty that is to be seen. SBC has been brewing their own custom craft beer since 2005. All their beers are brewed and aged on site in there expansive brew house. Patrons can even brew their own beers and classes are offered to those who wish to learn more about the craft. I find their beer overall to be very good and there is always a wide selection on tap. Even the most stubborn palates are sure to find something they enjoy. Like most places you can ask for samples or order a flight. 6-pack carry outs can be purchased along with growler fills. As if their beer wasn’t enough, they offer several elegant and delicious food choices. They have gourmet appetizers, soups, burgers, wraps, and full entrée diners. They serve several vegetarian choices as well. A different daily special is offered most every day. I enjoy the Pub Plater which is a spread of aged meats, gourmet cheeses, marinated olives, cashews and fresh fruit. Served with SBC’s famous grain bread. The Pub Platter goes very well with any beer while not filling you up so much that you can’t keep drinking beer ;) Plus, the prosciutto they serve on the Pub Platter is some of the best aged prosciutto around. There is a large banquet room can be rented out for events. They offer spacious seating and the place is big enough to handle large crowds yet not seem overly crowded.

We visited Saugatuck Brewing Co. after getting a recommendation from a friend. The place is just outside of the downtown areas(of both Saugatuck and Douglas) and every time we drove past this place, the parking lot was full… now we know why. The food was great and the beer was great too. We tried the Beach Blonde on tap and brought a six pack home. Our food choices ranged from a Roasted Pepper, Goat Cheese Bisque(very good) to the Fish & Chips(delicious) and the Turkey Reuben(also delicious). The service was friendly and the prices are reasonable — we will be back!

(8÷18÷15) I arrived by bike, and found parking at the rack right by the walk-way. I was able to get a umbrella table outside, and after the long ride down from Holland, I was ready for a beer! I was fortunate that they had Hop in Your Rye on tap, which my server Alex recommended, quite rightly it turns out! A seriously good Rye with the perfect balance of hops! This beer alone gave then a 5-star rating! I needed to refuel for the ride back, so I ordered lunch as well, and went with the Douglas Chicken sandwich. Great tasting sandwich — perfectly cooked –and the yukon gold potato chips that came with it were very good, once I added salt. The rain came and chased all the sane people inside, but Alex volunteered to bring me food and drink no matter what, and the Summer rain came down with no wind, so the umbrella did an excellent job as well. I decided to go with the Starburst Wheat next — which was also on tap — and though a lighter-bodied bodied beer, it had outstanding flavor and a clean tart finish that made it perfect for a Summer day. I decided to have another beer — while I waited out the rain, of course — and Alex explained the story behind the cryptically named The Impostor. Being part Scot myself, I had to go with it, and it was an excellent ale, with a good malty flavor. The rain eventually stopped, and the other patrons reemerged, which was my cue to get back on the road, but my visit was a great joy, and I whole-heartedly recommend stopping in at Saugatuck Brewing for the beer and the food! Heck, you can even check out the antique shop next door if you like! Give this brewery a try!

We were in the area for our anniversary and decided on Saugatuck Brewing for dinner on Saturday. We were quickly seated outside on the patio but had to move inside due to the mosquitos. The patio could benefit from tiki torches! They had live music Saturday night. The band was ok… their lyrics were pretty Christian-oriented. Not my style. As expected, the beers we tried were tasty. They didn’t have anything on tap that was very exciting/unique. The pumpkin-chai I was hoping to try was only offered in 6 packs. Bummer! I was initially excited about the menu but the food was not very good honestly. They were out of the twice baked potato bites, so we started with the pub platter. A couple of cheeses & meats, fruit, olives, cashews and bread. Pretty good but the platter didn’t come with enough bread to pair with the cheese/meat, etc. I ordered the turkey reuben and chips. Loved the chips but the reuben was not impressive. The turkey appeared to be grocery store lunch meat. The 1000 island dressing and coleslaw were really lacking flavor or tang that the sandwich needed. My husband’s fish & chips weren’t anything special either. Not very crispy and the fish didn’t taste fresh. Maybe it was an off night but we were disappointed with the food and overall experience.

We were staying nearby and decided to join the crowd of a hundred other humans and wait for a table. We were seated quicker than quoted, though it was enjoyable to watch parties of 10 huff and puff when they were quoted a 2 hour wait. Our server was very cheery and helped me decide on the Shrimp Po Boy. It was pretty freaking good! My wife got a burger that she liked a lot too. The beer was good, the food was great, the atmosphere was lively. No complaints. Its no 5-star but definitely worth a try!!!

Hubby and I each ordered a beer flight so that we could enjoy as many of the saugatuck brews as possible. His tastes lean towards the hoppy side, and he really enjoyed the Hazy Studder and the Day Walker black IPA. We both really enjoyed our lunches as well. The grilled chicken sandwich was moist and delicious. Would definitely go back again if we’re in town!

Cool joint. We stopped in for a late bite to eat after doing downtown Saugatuck and the dunes. The hunger and thirst factors were high. After perusing the beer menu a clear choice wasn’t easy so I had a 6 beer flight instead. That included their in-house hard cider, Hazy Stutter, Bonfire Brown, Pier Cove Porter, Boathouse Stout and Neapolitan Milk Stout. The middle browns were average and bland, but easy to drink. My favorites were the endcaps in the rack. the hard cider and the Neapolitan Milk Stout, which was easily my favorite. They’ve perfected the strawberry, vanilla, chocolate combo. As for dinner, I had a 10in multi-cheese flatbread. Good stuff. The food menu here is a bit odd for common diners, but the three of us walked out satisfied. Loved the ambience here. We sat inside but they also have a nice outside dining patio. I’m at 3.5 stars here. Not quite a 4, but easily better than you’re average brewery. Cheers.

Saugatuck Brewing Co. was a must-visit spot during our time in Saugatuck, and I’m glad we stopped in. We came here for an early weekday dinner and we had the place nearly to ourselves — a nice surprise. We sat right by the row of brew tanks and ordered a few to start things out. They had a decent selection on tap, and everything we tried we liked. We liked the beer, and we liked the food too! I ordered a shrimp po’ boy with their house made chips. The shrimp were great and ’twas a yummy sandwich. Bonus: We picked up a case of one of their summer brews for a heck of a deal on our way out.
