A great atmosphere and good wine awaits you at Shelton Vineyard’s Harvest Grill. Always a good meal here, no matter what you get. The prices are reasonable too. Located on the grounds of Shelton Vineyard on the outskirts of Dobson, NC

Went here after a long day of tasting, the food was excellent, however portions for some things(the sides for the rabbit especially) were small and disappointing considering the crazy high prices. Service was good, dessert was incredible, prices were just a bit high.

Ambiance is on par. Very friendly staff. Husband had the steak & mushroom wrap and it was amazing. Strawberry salad was good. Wine sampler was good. Outdoors is gorgeous — very well maintained & decorated nicely.

Leisurely lunch set in the midst of a Vineyard. Good Food, Atmosphere and Service. One Saturday recently we drove up to the Amish Country to stock up on butter, fresh bread and other items so after making our purchases, we proceeded up I-77 a little further to Harvest Grill in Dodson. It’s set in the middle of one of the Vinyards to right of the Winery. First time I came up years ago, they were running a Goat Cheese Dairy out of here but has now become an outstanding Restaurant serving only the freshest of foods. We walked into an elegantly appointed lobby and were promptly seated in a dining area with a great vista of the Vineyards and a small stream running by. Extensive menu so it took awhile to make our choices. I settled on the Buffalo Chicken, Bacon and Bleu Cheese Grinder. Not what I expected because there was no heat to it but rather a nice grilled Chicken Sandwich. For a side, I chose the Caesar Side. My companion chose the Apple Brandy Beef Braised Beef Ribs with a side of Smashed Potatoes and Baby Carrots. She enjoyed her lunch as well. Portion sizes are very good and appropriate for lunch. Everything is perfectly prepared and the presentation is excellent. Wait staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the appropriate wine paring. Atmosphere as described about is excellent and this is a place we will definately be back to in the near future.

My wife and I loved our lunch last week at Harvest Grill. The side room with the view of the vineyard — accompanied by the well-tended fireplace — was a superb setting to enjoy the meal. The food was excellent and the service exemplary. We found the 1970s radio station playing to be out of place and not just a little distracting. Notwithstanding, we would return for another meal in a heartbeat if we didn’t live so far away. Our server took very good care of us(thanks Adrianne!). And the meal… oh the meal. Superb, particularly given the fact that this vineyard is practically in the middle of nowhere.

Microgreen salad, lemon thyme vinaigrette and their amazing chocolate cake were delicious. The crab cake was fine, though not as amazing as it was advertised. The scenery was beautiful and for the area, it was by far the best food around.

Really lovely meal! We took it to go bc we were coming off a long drive and have three young kids so we took to the pool at the Hampton and it was lovely! Bought a bottle of white for 10 $ which made it just perfect. Staff was very helpful over the phone and once I got there. Wish we could have had a proper dinner, maybe next time. We had the pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and roasted veg. It was great. Also had the house salad with lemon thyme dressing that was perfect. I paired that with the crab cake app and it was a nicely portioned meal. I got the app bc it came with a few extra sauces. Glad I did! Seems like the best place to get food in the area. It’s affiliated with the Hampton and it compliments nicely! It is a bit pricey but the quality was worth it.

Visited yesterday during a trip up to Shelton to taste some wine on a beautiful long holiday weekend. Hopefully I’ll be able to update this review in the future to be more complete as neither of us were terribly hungry thanks to a late breakfast. However, we wanted to get some food on our bellies before tasting wine! The restaurant itself tries to be upscale in its décor, but doesn’t quite meet that goal. It’s nice, but sort of seems like it’s trying too hard. We were sat on the enclosed patio with all of the other guests, so I can only assume they didn’t have the remainder of the tables available. Our service was excellent and always on point without being overly pushy/visible. I ordered a bowl of their soup special, which was She Crab(I’m a sucker for it) and their small Caesar salad. The soup was a nicely-sized portion and was garnished with what I believe was dill. Overall, it was good, but certainly not up to par with what you find in Charleston, though I can’t hold that against them! The salad was very tasty and I liked that it was garnished with some sliced grape tomatoes. The one item I would’ve liked to omit were the bacon crumbles as they didn’t fit the flavor profile in my opinion. Kate enjoyed her baby arugula salad and noted that the dressing was superb. She paired that with the sausage, onion and asiago flatbread, which was very good. Overall it was good and fairly priced. I hope that next time we find ourselves at Shelton, I’ll have more of an appetite!

Took my mom and dad to Shelton yesterday afternoon. One of the reasons I picked Shelton Vineyards to visit(since my parents aren’t wine drinkers) is this restaurant. There are closer vineyards to Charlotte, but none offers real dining option.(Honestly the only other vineyards with dining that I know of is Childress off I-85, obviously not counting Biltmore). Please note that they are only opened until 6pm on Sundays — meaning you need to have an early dinner/late lunch. Good thing about that is they actually offered the lunch menu. Food was good overall — but lacking complexity if you are expecting something more. Keep in mind this is in the middle of nowhere North Carolina(hey, I love my state but I am also a realist). The Harvest Grill offers the best dining option in the area without a doubt. The pork medellions was my favorite. Their Mounds of Joy dessert was surprisingly good — if you love coconut that is. I believe they change menu seasonally(as of yesterday it was still the Spring menu). Our server was Peggy — she was great. They even gave my mom and I each a flower on the way out. Overall I found The Harvest Grill at Shelton Vineyards to be a very nice spot to dine at, something different and local — will definitely be back!

I don’t think I have ever been so surprised as I was dining at Harvest Grill. I came here on a stay/drink/eat package and was amazed that a restaurant so good exists so far away from a large city. We were staying at the nearby Hampton Inn(which is very nice as well) where they had a complimentary shuttle to/from the restaurant where we were given a warm welcome and taken to our table near the fireplace(it was very cold so this was a great table). No cocktails are available but the complete selection of Shelton wines are available without the usual big restaurant markup. The menu resembled something that you might find in a trendy big city restaurant which was the first surprise. So many things that sounded fabulous. The second surprise was receiving food that exceeded the descriptions in the menu for presentation, quantity and taste. Be sure to save room for dessert. I usually don’t eat desserts but these we awesome too. Bottom line is that if I every find myself in the area again, I will plan a visit to the Harvest Grill. I also recommend the same package we had at the Hampton. It is well woth the price.

I absolutely LOVE Shelton Vineyards. So gorgeous to visit, quaint little shop and darling restaurant. I absolutely love the food at the Harvest Grill, the service is always excellent and friendly. I have only one complaint. My first time at Shelton, and this was YEARS ago so this may no longer stand to be true, while dining at the Harvest Grill, the chef was in the kitchen literally SCREAMING at the other employees. Whether it was kitchen staff or wait staff, I do not know. You could hear him clear across the dining room, it was very disruptive and ill-mannered. To avoid the risk of having him interrupt our meals, we sit outside on the patio. Hey, at least its a great view! Unfortunately it gets cold so it limits the time of the year we are able to visit.

What a gem! Came as a stopping point on the way to Florida. The wine tour and tasting was great enough for us to buy a case! We arrived for dinner a little early. no problem. We sat in the enclosed patio area that had a wonderful smoky smell from the fireplace at the end. The menu was filled with seasonal selections each one sounding as delicious as the other making choices difficult. Our foursome solved the dilemma by ordering differently and sharing. The crab cakes were wonderful, the salads as well, the trout, pork loin, lobster ravioli all outstanding. My overall dining experience including service was one of the best EVER! What a great hidden secret this area is and we will be back! Oh by the way… The wine happens to be exceptional too!

The harvest Grill is a steady performer, but not anything that will take your breath away. We had the Red Pepper bisque/garnished with crab meat and capicola stuffed shrimp for starters. Then the Black and Blue sandwich and Asian pork ribs. Shared a bottle of Madison and Lee Red. The food was good, not great but like I said earlier solid. I do find it a bit odd for a restaurant at a winery that has many red selections not to have a steak dish on the menu other than a sandwich. Also, I noticed that the menus were slightly dirty. The scenery in the dining room is wonderful and you can see the grape growing on the vines. The service was great from start to finish. I just wish the menu had a little more upscale feel to it. If you are in the Dobson area and visiting Shelton’s Vineyards Make sure you try The Harvest Grill for lunch or dinner.

Opps I posted my picks to the actual Vineyard Unilocal page. Anywho… NC? Wine Country. Whatttt??? Yes! My mom found this place and brought us to it. Hmmm… Where to start. The wine was AMAZING. I had a Peach Spritzer, which was really good and went down quick(could get you in trouble). You MUST order the Fried Green Tomatoes… WOW is and understatement. The taste was phenomenal. The was a lime salsa type of sauce on top of the tomatoes that had an unbelievable sweet/sour taste. As far as the Filet… ehhhh I’ve had better. It wasn’t the most amazing that I’ve had but the mixture of that and the Bordeaux Jam on the side of the plate made the dish. The Service: Excellent! Out waitress was extremely nice and very knowledgeable of the wines offered.

My husband and I traveled well out of our way to dine here and it was well worth it! We ordered the Petite Vintner’s Dinner and chose to go with the chefs recommendation for the wine for each course I had the Seared Sea Scallops with a Sweet Corn Purée that was so good I had to refrain from picking up the dish and licking it! Next was a Micro Greens Black Bean & Quinoa Salad Trio that was amazing. Finally I had the Crispy Cornbread Crab Cakes with Green Tomato Salsa –Cilantro Lime Sour Cream –White Cheddar Grits with Grilled Summer Veggies. ALLAMAZING!

Both times we’ve been to the Yadkin Valley this has been our spot for dinner the first night. Both times it has been great. The food, wine, and service were all terrific. Sadly both times it was dark out so we didn’t get to enjoy what looks to be a great view while we ate. The past time we went they had their winter menu. We weren’t super hungry so Mrs. B got a pumpkin ravioli appetizer, I got a bowl of soup, and we shared a large Low Country Caesar Salad. The soup was black bean with chorizo. Another thing I like is their wine flights. Well more the flight holder which is kind of metal tree which holds the glasses at different heights around it vs. the usual straight line of glasses. The atmosphere is kind of fancy, but relaxed. Our server this past time had a little metal tool she used to sweep the bread crumbs off the table. I don’t remember that from the first time so it may have been her own personal touch, but it was nice. If you’re visiting the Yadkin Valley and especially if you’re going to Shelton Vineyards, the Harvest Grill is a must stop if you want a good meal. It isn’t the cheapest one, but worth the money.

An incredible place for a nice meal while visiting Shelton. Someone obviously knows what they are doing — because everything I tasted off of their seasonal menu was executed perfectly. They offer the same wines as the vineyard but oddly enough we asked if we could bring our bottle to Harvest and were told they would charge a corkage fee. We just bought a glass instead… We ordered the Sweet Potato Chips with Truffle Butter as a starter, I had the Chicken, Shrimp & Pancetta Cavatappi Pasta, and my friend had the Ginger Snap Crusted Salmon. All were outstanding and we couldn’t believe the portion sizes for lunch! Honestly, these dishes would be $ 25 – 35 dollars in Charlotte. and were $ 15 – 16 here. They have two options for dining 1) a VERY quiet dining area… that seemed a little like we were dining with our rich friends retired grandpas country club pals or 2) the covered patio area(a bit like a sunroom). Either choice, the food is the same and I will be back for sure!
