Not impressed with this place at all. Way over pricked smoothies that I could get a better tasting one somewhere else and nasty macchiatios. I got an almond macchiato and it tasted like plastic. Horrible after taste so I wasted $ 2.40 since they charge a whopping $ 0.50 just for a flavored syrup. Don’t even get me started on the prices of the smoothies… not worth $ 3.50 you can definitely find a better smoothie for cheaper anywhere else. The interior was cool but their beverages do not match it how nice it is on the inside. Such a bummer since it’s right across the street from the Cobo –Center.

As soon as I walked into the Bean Bar, I was welcomed by Cookie Not only is she great at her job, she is so sweet and bubbly and puts a smile on your face! Nice environment too. This will definitely be a frequent place for me from now on. Thank you Cookie.

Arrived at 7:05 and the doors were locked. Finally, staff showed up and unlocked the doors. Said she thought she would be «open» in 25 minutes or so, as she had just turned on the machines. Not a great way to run a business.

Horrible all around. Not one person was in there on lunch hour which should have alerted me to turn right back out the door. The service was bad and the coffee was luke warm. The kicker… I ordered a medium and she charged me for a large — I pointed out the error and she claimed it was tax. Tax is not 15%. And people wonder why businesses are not making it in Detroit.

Very slow service. Early morning when most people buy a coffee and they have one person working.(And she had her daughter with her behind the counter)

Cute little place, and a really sweet employee waited on me– she was so thoughtful! However, my frozen espresso drink was a little bland.

Standard coffee shop nothing special. Nice people and clean area. Probably the same selection as a 7 – 11.

Highly mediocre coffee, and delicious muffins. Conveniently located across from COBO. I had to make a latte out of the«dark roast.» Get an espresso.

Just stopped in here on a whim during lunch, and man oh man, is this smoothie delicious! I got the Mango Madness with added protein, which was less than $ 5 and it’s huge. I’m so glad I came in today because apparently, this place has been around for years and I never knew it existed. I’ve been hoping someone would open up a good smoothie bar downtown… and little did I know, there was one down the street from my office all along! Definitely worth stopping in. You should know, however, that the only food they offer is a small selection of baked goods and some chips, so don’t expect sandwiches or soup!

I wanted a breakfast sandwich. However, I didn’t want to pay $ 15 for one via hotel room service, so I set out on a walk with my trust Unilocal app blazing in my hot little hand. Well, I didn’t get a breakfast sandwich but I did make my way to Bean Bar for a decent iced Americano and generic bagel. And that’s pretty much how it went — the coffee was fine, the staff is friendly and Bean Bar is a cute little corner place to pop in for some java or a smoothie. As for food options, I came on a bare bones morning… just a few danishes in a case and bagels that you can toast yourself on the nearby counter. $ 4 later and eyeful of Good Morning America via the two large TVs they have mounted on the wall, I’m ready to start the day!

I agree with all previous reviews, especially the friendly staff and nice prices on coffee. A welcome change from SB, glad to support local business in d/t Detroit, even if it’s only coffee. I can see the Bean from my office window. Great place.

A great little spot that I never would have noticed. Fairly new, straightforward shop with a good selection and fantastic prices. Friendly service, plenty of seating, TVs running. I hope they stay open!

I found an oasis away from the clamor of the North American International Auto Show crowds and the ridiculous priced food and drink that was sold throughout Cobo. This review is simple. The Bean Bar is a coffee shop and a fine one at that. They are reasonably priced and my coffee drink was made to my liking, hot and sweet. Nothing more to say… I’m satisfied.

Wunderbar!!! In need of caffeine in Detroit, here I found myself. The Bean Bar. Let’s do it. *Iced Coffee with a shot of flava: perfectly brewed/served, not watery. *2 pieces of pound cake(marble and lemon) + 4 mini-danishes(cream cheese, raspberry, pineapple and apple). — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — $ 6.24 What? Yep, for all that…$ 6.24. Incredible. I’m sufficiently caffeinated and my grandparents will be surely sugared up after I present them with this bag o’ fresh treats. I MIGHT have taken a quick bite out of the raspberry danish, just to make sure it was acceptable for them… mmhmmm. Good stuff. Up to snuff. The real winner here: the staff. Super friendly, ready to help, and genuine. I even asked if she was the owner, due to her investment in making sure my coffee/pastry stop was as pleasant as possible. She also keeps this place clean as a whistle, chairs lined up, not a crumb in site… everything is sparkly ‘n’ shiny. Beautiful. And air conditioned. With ice coffee. Yep, it’s all checking out just fiiiiiiiine. A few notes: *Does accept credit cards. *Closes at 3pm during the week. *Large menu of smooooooothies. Most def would give those a whirl.
