I’m rating this compared to other Starbucks, not all coffee places. The room was bright and clean and comfortable, and the staff was cheery and prompt. Compared to NYC, my home, this was a BIG step up!

Nine out ten visits have been consistently bad. The problem is that it’s the most convenient location downtown. For some reason I expected the traditional Starbucks Corporate customer service. Nope. Nada. Is it really Starbucks? Some of the staff is great and provides decent service. However, I’ve been there and seen so many incidents of crummy service. It is a slow wait and there will be staff just standing around. This location doesn’t honor any promos(codes), but they do redeem your earned rewards. Overall, I would go to The Roasting Plant if in a rush and want a cup of coffee. I like Starbucks espresso, so I tolerate this location when I really need a caffeine fix. Oh how a Starbucks intervention is needed with the staff that works at this location.

I came to this location on a Sunday morning(12÷6÷2015) at around 10am. The ladies who were working at that time were very nice and friendly and they knew their stuff. I will say that overall it was the best Starbucks experience I have ever had in my entire life. That may sound like an exaggeration but I promise you it is not. I was greeted nicely and asked what my order was. They accepted my reward from the app on my phone and I also ordered a breakfast sandwich. As I waited for my latte, I chatted with the barista making my drink. Somehow it was not communicated that I wanted soy, but she quickly made me a replacement. Oh my goodness, I cannot believe how pleasant they all were! Based on the other reviews this may have been a fluke, but I can only wish this were my regular Starbucks. Unfortunately, I live in California, and not all of our baristas are so nice. So thank you ladies for being the best!

This is my go to Starbucks as I pass this location on my way to work everyday. Service is OK but was much worse a few months ago. It seems the staff has turned over quite a bit and the new crew members are doing a great job at improving things. Previously, the store was also not accepting normal Starbucks promotions(gold card rewards, etc), but they seem to have changed that policy as of late as well. Speed still could use improvement when compared to other locations and product availability is an issue. They do run out of popular breakfast items and ingredients to make drinks, with weeks passing in some cases before they restock. I’ll continue going here because it really is the only Starbucks option close to work, but more work is needed before it is on par with other locations.

It’s terrible when you’re a fellow barista and you enter an establishment with hopes of the greatness you and your team always deliver and to be slapped in the face. They do not follow the standard recipes, some seem very nonchalant and bored. By far one of my worst experiences at SBUX near my home.

UPDATE — This location has gotten a little better at service in the past 6 months or so and it seems like they’ve gotten rid of some of their more unpleasant employees. Their speed at delivering drinks has improved as well. However, lower your expectations for this location – if you’re there in the morning, you should still expect a longer wait than at most Starbucks locations.

Literally the worst Starbucks I’ve ever been to, it’s embarrassing. What’s even worse is people visiting her even know it’s terrible and it exceeds their expectations. If you are in a rush for a coffee go to the far superior roasting plant across the street. You will wait at least 5 – 10 minutes for a iced coffee here.

Service isn’t great, but it isn’t bad. All depends on the day. Sometimes you’ll get a moody barista that doesn’t like her job and that will show. Otherwise, Starbucks is Starbucks… burnt coffee, gas station bakery goods, hipster music, and free wifi.

I’ve had it with this place. Although it’s one of the few coffee places open on weekends in downtown Detroit, the attitude of the personnel and the fact that they don’t honor any Starbucks Gold Member benefits makes this store worthless. My previous time the manager ordered the employees to close the store because the Espresso machine was broken — yet you could still get in by entering the building through another door. Very smart!!! What did it for me was my latest experience. I came in to buy a Frappuccino as a Gold Member and, when I asked why I didn’t get my benefit, the employee answered snakily«oh, we’re not corporate» as I pointed to the huge sign behind her that showed I was entitled to my benefit. It’s not about the money, but being treated like this for what isn’t a very special product isn’t worth it. If you must get your Starbucks go to the Ren Cen.

9 time out of 10 the service I receive at Starbucks is really great, but for some reason at this location there is always some sort of issue. Not to mention a majority of the staff is unfriendly with the exception of about two people. The baristas are constantly making my drink wrong and/or the cashier isn’t writing down my order correctly. One time I ordered a chai tea frappacuino and received a cup full of just ice and milk. The staff doesn’t seem to be trained properly either because the service is very slow, but they also give off the impression that they just don’t really care as well. There are two gentlemen who work there and do their job exceptionally well and I appreciate their great service every time I visit this location. I would prefer not to visit this Starbucks as frequently as I do but unfortunately it’s the only one that’s close to my work.

Standard Starbucks fare, but the reason for the low rating is my coffee had grounds in it but they wouldn’t replace it because it was the end of the blonde roast and they weren’t brewing more. I also watched them throwing away food 40 minutes before close and then telling someone they were sold out. They charged me for my treat not 2 minutes earlier. Not overly friendly here either :/

Great location right downtown, wonderfully modern interior design! However, trying to find a seat amongst the 6 homeless people sleeping at tables really throws off the atmosphere. I think this location would be much improved if there was something said to tackle this issue. It makes it quite uncomfortable, quite honestly. Disappointing first visit!

What amazing service! My parents came to this Starbucks on 777 Woodward Ave on Saturday, and they were so pleased with the service they’ve been asking me to write a review nonstop! The baristas, Ms. Tiffany and Mr. Andre, were so helpful and kind, and my parents say they’ve never experienced any kind of service like this from Starbucks by a long shot. They appreciate the great attitudes and exceptional assistance. Be sure to check them out. My parents won’t forget their time here at this Starbucks, that’s for sure!

How can I possibly be the first to review this? I normally would pass on writing a Starbucks review, but hey, sometimes you gotta seize the moment. So, here we go… ready? It is a Starbucks. You know, it’s that place that sells overpriced coffee that you either love or hate. However, what is great about this location is that it is here… in downtown Detroit. Yeah, we have some mini-Starbucks locations around in the RenCen and at MGM, for example. Yeah, in addition we did have an actual full service location that closed, too. But, this one is different. This is a real Starbucks like the ones you would find in L.A. or New York. It is located in the heart of Detroit. Have you ever walked around Detroit and thought to yourself that there isn’t much around when compared to say Chicago? Or asked yourself, what major city doesn’t have a Starbucks? Well, here ya go. This Starbucks symbolically represents the re-birth of downtown Detroit. So far, the service at this location has been good. I’ve only purchased coffee products at this location yet and I have not been disappointed. Though I haven’t tried any of this location’s food yet, I don’t expect that it is any different from the food products at other Starbucks locations. I’m glad Starbucks is here. This location was a needed addition to Detroit. They will do very well. Let’s face it, regardless if you love or hate Starbucks, they started as a local coffee house and expanded to the largest coffee company in the world. There is a reason for that. They do have standards for service and offer great products.
