I love this place. Is The Baltimore classy? No. It’s not trying to be… and that’s what I love about it. This isn’t a place where you come to «see and be seen.» It’s a place you come to drink and possibly meet some regular people. Would I eat here? I wouldn’t set out to eat dinner here, but if it’s getting late in the evening and I’m craving a grilled cheese or something, I might give it a whirl. I haven’t yet, but I’m not saying that I’d completely rule it out. It’s divey. If you don’t like dives, you will not like The Baltimore. If you’re scared of Detroit, you probably won’t like The Baltimore either. The bartenders are always friendly and engaging. The drinks are reasonably priced. Whether for a few minutes or a few hours, it’s a place I always seem to enjoy. So if you’re a down-to-earth person who generally gets along well with others, you’ll probably fit in perfectly.

Shady and just generally dirty-looking. Drinks are cheap, but you get what you pay for. I was shocked to see a food menu… I wouldn’t dare order food here. I’ve heard crazy stories about the back room, so if you’re into partying past 2 am, that’s an option. Generally, this place is just the opposite of anything I would enjoy. I can see how it might be as good as it gets for certain types of people, though.

If there was a way to leave a review with 0 stars I would. 8.00 for a WEAK Gin and tonic, 7.00 for ½ shots and 4.00 for a bottle of beer. Come on!!! Anybody who says this hole is a good dive bar needs to go out more!

Best bar downtown. Friendly bar staff. Cheap drinks. Jukebox in the front, DJ in the back.

Hilda and the gang are about as good as it gets! Super friendly and generous with the shots. Watch out though, it just might be some Jameson.

Awesome place to hang out. No one in the city can beat their drink deals. Great place for people watching. You will never remember your night at the Baltimore.

Was here last night as part of a bar crawl. I had the worst service ever from a tall thin white male bartender. I ordered a grey goose and cran plus a water(this was the last stop on our crawl, so I was parched!). He got me the grey goose right away and even walked it around the bar to me. Super nice, right? He explained that they had run out of water glasses and he would get me water once they had more. Odd, but ok. I noticed they had plastic water cups and glass for real drinks. A few mins later I got a seat at the bar. 15 mins later, still no water, so I asked him again. He takes my empty glass with vodka and cran residue and half melted ice and just pours water into it. Then cracks a joke about vodka flavored water and tries to walk away. I’m like uhm, how about you dump that out and give me a fresh glass of water? He dumps it with attitude, and then serves 3 other patrons before giving me a glass of water with no ice. I then see him give two white dudes who came in, ice water in a regular glass. My girlfriend asked for water and he tried to charge her $ 1WTF? So rude! I instantly regretted giving him 20%. I ordered the same drink from a different bartender(no way I was dealing with that passive aggressive douche again) and she tried to charge me $ 1 extra for the same drink. Later I saw her filling the vials for the shot girl’s tray by holding the ice back with her fingers instead of a shaker. Then she wiped her hands on her pants. I’m giving this place two stars instead of one because the last I went I had a great time and no one was rude or unsanitary. That was about 4 years ago though. My suggestion for you… Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Love this bar. Been going here for years. Every morning I would come and get lunch or breakfast but now that Ted is gone I dont really come as much. $ 2 strohs beer is my fav. They do 3 for $ 101800 shots but I hate 1800 so they usually hook me up with Jameson instead witch is very cool. The bathrooms definitely needs some work done and I never go into the back bar because I hate being in packed areas but the front is a good chill spot. Girls always dancin on the bar and I dont think I can say iv ever left sober lmao the owners always hook it up.

It’s nothing special inside but wow do I always have a fun time here. Might have something to so with the 2 buck beers. I heard a rumor the best burger in Detroit can be found here

This is probably one of my favorite hole in the wall in the D! The drinks are stiff and cheap. The bar staff will treat you like family. I dunno if this is an establishment that you would wanna come watch a game at or not… I felt like the last time I was there, they lacked on having a few tv’s. However, their jute box is legendary(well in my eyes and amongst my friends anyway) if you are into hip/hop, and old school bears– then this is the place for you! Also, if you need to fill your belly up before you crush some alcohol, I know they got some decent bar bites as well!

Favorite hole in the wall bar! There’s always a good crowd and their prices are not steep. If you’re friendly with the bar tending staff, they’re likely to hook up your tab, too. Maybe because of the deal on drinks, I always end up dancing here. They play good music that is sometimes all over the place but oh-so-good. I’ve noticed that they tend to turn the other cheek to smokers, however. So beware if you don’t want to wake up smelling like the regret of too many cheap drinks at a hole in the wall in the D.

I hate this rathole. Their food is awful. $ 6BLT with three pieces of bacon on wonder bread, really? They advertise cheap prices, but pay attention to your tab, they add drinks on it left and right. I’ve personally seen multiple people complain to the same effect in 15 minute span. I have been with people that were there for three beers and charged for more than double. I go here on occasion with some WSU friends, but I’d rather not. I don’t know how this joint stays open. Hopefully B-dubs puts them out of business.

What an awesome hot spot in Detroit! We wandered in here because the Well had a line. I love the two different rooms — both are divey and this place is not pretentious at all. The front room had one of those MP3 jukeboxes and the back room had a DJ and people were actually dancing. It was a very cool crowd and every one was fired up. I was flagging before we got here but this place picked me right up.

Went here after the Tigers game to get some drinks and start the night off. It had that dive bar style that i enjoy so much and the music wasn’t terrible. There was a really annoying shot girl(like the ones at the strip club) who kept bothering us though.

Came here to visit my friend who works as a bouncer. We stayed for only 10 – 15 min; it’s a pretty run down bar. A lot of people all over dancing, drinking, talking, etc. Wasn’t a fan of the inside. Didn’t drink but I don’t think I’d come back unless I was visiting my friend.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed The Baltimore yet. I always have such a great time there. It’s just your little hole-in-the-wall bar, but the drinks are well worth what you pay and the music is just right. The back room is always packed, and it’s where the music is. In my experience, you can also get drinks quicker back there. The front has a few nice long booths, which are perfect if you have a large group. Bathrooms are in the hallway between the two rooms, and they really are pretty crappy. But then again, I don’t expect much of a bar bathroom. As long as there’s soap and toilet paper, I’m fine. There are so many great bars downtown, and this one is no exception.

Ah I wish I was home in Michigan just a bit more these days. I’m in Michigan for 1 day a week, which is Saturday. This means, I have to go to Eastern Market, stop by Old Miami, Nemos, Bakers, Polish Village, Lilys, On The Rocks, get my favorite sandwich at Que Huong, and still mow my freaking yard before I fly back out on Sunday. The last two Saturdays I’ve had the joy of taking some friends that don’t really come to Detroit much. We hit the Eastern Market wine shop to say hi to Dan, Baltimore, Old Miami, and El Ray taco in Mexican town When we sat down at the Baltimore their eyes lit up when we were handed the standard house whiskey shot and then a follow up shot which chases with Strohs. Pretty nice way to welcome people to the D

The best thing about this place is it’s location– It is close to a lot of the stadiums and theatres — but it is also close to a lot of other bars.(Can anyone say pub crawl???) I won’t do too much reviewing of the décor — it’s not a pretty place… but it is a fun place. I’ve only been when it’s busy– and boy do they get busy. Grilled cheese is fantastic– and drink prices don’t make me raise my eyebrows. Bathroom is definitely sketchtastic. My favorite part about the bathroom was waiting in line to use it during the Final Four weekend at Ford Field and having some dumb girls in front of me talk about how they should have more bathrooms. I politely explained to her that they do not have the Final Four in Detroit every weekend, so the lines for the bathroom are usually not so long. She was a smart girl.
