Went in here this weekend and we picked up a few of their signature items, BURGERS: Bun was chewy, but far too much bread compared to the amount of meat you get. I tasted more soggy bun than beef. FRIES: Cooked well, a nice light golden color, crispy. ONIONRINGS: Crispy as well, but not a lot of flavor. They give you about 8 rings. CHILI: Very small cup and tasted more like liquid brown beans. Where’s the beef? No thanks. COFFEE: Very mild and I liked it, but not much of a kick. If you prefer strong coffee, this is not for you. DONUTS: We tried the coconut and peanut donuts, and both were fantastic. Super fresh, very soft inside, with excellent quality shredded coconut and peanuts. These were the winners here! Now regarding the experience… The two women at the front counter serving us a late midnight snack were not that friendly as we sat in front of them and ate at the counter. They basically stood there stone faced in front of us without saying much. I guess they just weren’t much for small talk. Oh well, perhaps they both hated working the midnight shift. I will say the woman serving us coffee and donuts the next morning was friendly, hats off to her! Takeout seems to be the way to go at this joint.

I seriously don’t really know how to look people in their face after they rate this place less than a 4 and not have a slight attitude lol. But seriously I don’t know really how to explain the best little nothing burger in the world… I’ve been using the word best a lot. But its levels to best. And this is certainly a different type of best! A iconic staple in Detroit diners and sliders. Every time I’m here I get a certain type of nostalgia. I’m not even gonna state the obvious about the neighborhood/the original building its in. I always order 4 sliders for 3 bucks and sit and eat them in my car. Or sometimes I get fancy and go next door to the McDonald’s and grab a shake. Then I get that happy tingling feeling. I took a friend 12÷28÷15 for the first time in life last night. She asked for something crazy on her slider like lettuce and tomato… I gave her the hardest side eye ever! You need nothing of that sort. She then asked for cheese and I allowed her to indulge. With or without cheese they are great. I add onions rings or fries from time to time which both are really good additions. One of these days I will try their famous coffee. I’m a lifer when it comes to this place. Over 25 years I’ve been coming here. The soft bun, the onions, and the beef are an indescribable taste that makes me extremely happy every visit.

Forget any other slider you know because it begins and ends at Telway. The prices are beyond fair for the quality of food you get.

Super cheap, super fast and hands down down the best coffee in town. I’m pretty sure this place hasn’t change a bit since they have opened. Old Fashioned Hamburger spot that does things they way they want and can care less what you think(seriously). If you don’t use the Take Out door for a Take Out order, they won’t serve you. Coffee comes in one size but man it’s good.

Forget about it! It’s got the be the undisputed slider joint in Detroit. Don’t care who you are or where you come from. Telway Hamburgers are the bees knees, and please make sure you come to this spot. It’s so much better here. Little hamburger sliders with sautéed onions, ketchup, mustard and pickles on the side. Yes, the pickles are served on the side, not included in the burger. That’s for when you prefer to throw them in the burgers. These burgers don’t really need the pickles, these babies are gut punching good. Drop some pickles in there, and you have yourself a tomahawk missile ready for destruction. The weather is getting cold as well, make sure you have yourself a bowl of hillbilly chili. This stuff is some good hearty chili as well. It definitely nourishes the soul and warms the heart. But their real crown jewel is their burgers. It’s a diner dive, so don’t expect a posh place for you to consume your meal. You can get your food from the pick up window if you wanna just take it home. This spot is in Southwest Detroit, people talk smack about the area all the time. We’ll we came, we walked to the restaurant, ate, paid in cash, walked back to our car and left. We didn’t get shot, robbed, stabbed or felt unsafe at any point in time. I sorta like it actually since I does weed out the annoying suburbianites. Thank you very much Telway Hamburgers for kicking ass! You are definitely THETRUTH! The Detroit metro is known for a smattering of White Castle knock offs from a bygone era. These«imitators» today serve up classic fast food fare with much better quality and prices than the original. Telway burgers are tasty onion infused pieces of joy. They use a steam towel method, that must be witnessed to be appreciated. I have only been three times in the two months since moving to the D, but I know it is a favorite already. Takeout orders must be made during the separate takeout entrance. The counter is only available for dine in service. Oh by the way, try the coffee! A double-double, or a triple-triple(2 or 3 creams/sugars)!

Not my cup of tea. It’s definitely for drunks after hours. I like hole in the walls but the quality of the food is also important. They are very busy and people seem to really love them so try them and see for yourself.

What can I say I grew up right down the street and went to school right down the street from here. Now I live about 45 min away from there but I still would rather make that drive just to get me some burgers and coffee whenever I can they have always been the best hands down.

They have 2 sections. One for carry out, the other can sit about 10 people. I got 2 – 3 burgers and went around to «dining» area. They actually asked me to leave, because the food i bought was«carry out» special. Food is delicious, but as far as customer service… they are lacking behind.

This is the best coffee I may have ever had. Grabbed a large double double and it’s amazing. There may be more cream and sugar than coffee, but it’s damn good. No sliders this stop, but I still think they’re better than White Castle. Love this place. Always a cross section of Detroit citizens.

Oh lord, what to say what say? Ok, a year back the place caught fire since no one bothered to clean the grease traps, they were up and selling food less than twenty minutes after the fire was out. The people eating there on a typical late night are an amusing bunch: prostitutes, druggies, and those odd ones that seem to need a place to site whilst waiting for death to come sweep them up.

Telway Hamburgers represents a sort of rite of passage, or perhaps a birth rite for Detroiters. That’s been the case since it opened way back in 1944. A business that has been successful for that long has got to be really good, right? For the uninitiated, as I was until just over a week ago, Telway serves up the cheapest slider burgers known to man into the late hours of the night(a la WhiteCastle) — $ 3 for 4 hamburgers(a little bit more if you want cheese on them). They are also known for cheap strong coffee. When one suffers from a hangover, Telway has the remedy — and when one suffers from Telway, Rolaids are the remedy. If you’re hungry after a night of partying, give Telway some love — bring cash. Telway’s is A-Ok.

For what this place is, it’s perfect. I got fish sliders and onion rings. This is dope jank food. :) It’s totally a dive, but I’d come here again if I was craving greasy, cheap goodness.

I love Teleway since I was a little girl! My Dad would often drive downtown late sat night to get the first Sunday paper in front of teleways! The burgers are always a terrific slider! Fresh bag to go! Watch the regulars stop in for coffee, burgers, etc!

The price of sack of sliders may have gone up(now $ 3 for a 4 pack, inflations a b@tch), but for late night eats, this hungry railroader will always put the Telway high on his list. Many a night spent with a cup of coffee just people watching in my younger days, and now that I get down here again for work, you’ll bet I’ll be coming back again. There are places with better burgers maybe, but who the hell is choosey at midnight on Michigan at this time of night? Better have cash though — no credit here. Stay classy Telway, we love ya!

Telway deserves its accolades. I went here for the first time a couple months ago, and now it is part of the regular rotation. It has the same things that you’d expect from most white tower-like places, but with far superior food, service, and prices. When I can order the entire menu for under $ 20, they are doing something right. I am tempted to do it every time I go in, although I am generally pretty happy with a few sliders. Don’t use ketchup — mustard and pickles are more than enough. Their chicken, fries, and fish sandwiches are all also good. The service is fantastic, all the ladies working the counter and the grill are very friendly and treat you like a regular even if you’ve never been in before. I brought a group of about 7 friends and we not only fit in there, surprisingly, but the food came out relatively quickly with minimal error. the double-double coffee is hardly even comparable to a regular coffee, it is kind of its own thing that maybe Detroit should embrace as a cultural phenomenon outside of Telway’s sphere. If you want something to go, you might have to wait a few minutes, but the take-out area is separate from the dining area and enclosed so you can wait for those burgers and coffee even in the winter. Keep your eyes peeled, the Motor City Burger Club will also be doing a review here.

telway is so freaking good. four burgers for 2.25 and they are great. they got that cheap fatty beef that sizzles a ton when you cook it and they put it on the the buns that you get eight in a pack at the grocery store. delicious. the cheese melts right on there and i got mine without onions, but even those smelled pretty good coming off the grill. the patty is a little smaller than the bun so maybe you have to pick some off. whatever though, you can really only eat three anyway, even though you have to get four because it’s cheaper haha. the coffee is more than you could hope for for forty-five cents(dining in). their fries are standard and dirt cheap. dining in is fun if you can find room, because of the constant activity here with people showing up at the window nonstop. the people who work here are nice but busy, so it’s probably good if you know what you’re doing and what you want. can’t wait to come back. also, i got a doughnut. yum.

In the modern era of $ 5.00 coffee, only The Telway reigns supreme for a cup of coffee under a buck. It ain’t fancy and hell it ain’t even clean but this place knows how to move food and beverage to go. Coffee is $ 0.85 and was just raised to that price only a couple of years ago from $ 0.65. Order it how you want but the specialty here is the«Double-Double.» That’s double crème and double sugar to go. This place must serve 750‑1000 cups of coffee a day. It’s not uncommon for the person in front of you to order 12 of them to go. It’s unassuming in just about every way. They serve everyone from suits, cops, gang bangers, the average Joe and hookers. It’s come as you are and the crowd is colorful. This place is a beehive 24 hours a day and I’m not sure they ever close. Burgers are still sliders but bigger than White Castle. Double meat, double cheese, extra onion and without condiments or middle bun is how I roll at The Telway. The steamed bun is the best part. Sack of 4 and heartburn all night is only $ 2.25. The people who work here are nice and they remember who tips and who doesn’t. You just got a hot cup of coffee for under a buck, so at least kick them back the change.
