Taqo

The lunch buffet is decent when the food doesn’t taste like it’s just microwaved leftovers from the previous day, but I now have two friends who had fraudulent transactions on their credit cards a day after eating there. At least one person on their wait staff is also generous enough to increase the tip amounts I sign on their receipt.
I’d go there In a pinch for halfway decent food but I would definitely use cash.

My friend just got back from there after I warned them not to go. Their waitress told them they don’t give change back. They round up and keep it. LMAO this place is a joke. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Food was great! Waitress was wonderful! Margaritas were great! Music was WAY too loud, had to shout to give waitress our order. ¼ into our meal and drinks watched another waitress blow her nose 5′ from the drink station, throw her tissue in the garbage the proceeded to grab her drink order after putting the limes on the sides of the margarita glasses. Another waitress with hair passed the middle of her back was standing next to our table taking an order while flinging her hair onto our table. Then reached into her shirt and pulled up her bra strap. Needless to say we didn’t finish our meal or our drinks. Brought the manager over and told him what was going on. Definitely won’t be back there! Hard telling what was going on in the kitchen, if this stuff was going on right in the middle of the restaurant! Bad training that’s for sure!

This is my favourite place in all of downtown Detroit. Amazing people, great food, live music from time to time and every time I go there I get treated like a king. Don’t miss it!

Our waitress, Tony, was completely unprofessional and didn’t bother to write anything down while taking our order. I ordered a steak taco with sour cream. Ten minutes later she comes back to ask what I wanted all over again because she couldn’t remember anything. 20 minutes in she came back to tell me they were out of steak as it was frozen and not marinated and so she «didn’t know what was going on» as she so eloquently worded it. Still no sour cream. My mom ordered a shrimp fajita, totally burnt. Waitress had a big attitude about us sending it back. Our waitress informed us that the chef called in and the manager had to step in so he didn’t know exactly what he was doing. Terrible experience.

Welllll, I enjoyed my chips and salsa…
This place is so unprofessional. We came in after the Halloween party @ the Fillmore really excited about trying this place and I was so disappointed! First of all I asked whats in the skittle bomb drink and the waitress says, «ummm I don’t know its sweet like a skittle», ok what ever I ordered it cause I wanted to try it. Then I order 3 tacos, 2shredded chicken and 1 shrimp and a side of rice and beans, and my sister ordered a steak taco on the side of her order of sliders & fries. We get our food, it’s WRONG. On my plate I have 2 steak tacos 1 shrimp and she gives my sister 1 chicken taco. I tell her I ordered 2 chicken and the shrimp she’s like oh I’m sorry I’ll go have the cook fix it. She comes back, with the same order and says I’m sorry he’s back there really tired and is almost falling asleep I don’t think he’ll be able to fix it I’ll have my manager take it off your bill. I’m like what ever I ate the 2 tacos the chicken and the shrimp because I was really hungry and ate more of the chips then after a while I’m like how am I suppose to eat my rice and beans without silverware… I sent that back cause I was just over this place. So I get my bill and the skittle bomb (which tasted like a cup of juice no liq) was on the menu as $ 5 she tried to charge me for something she was trying to think it matched @$ 8 …wtf, I was really hoping this was her first night on the job because she sucked ass!!! I will not be returning here EVER, and I hope no one else will. I could totally understand if this place was super busy, ok cool you make a mistake but this place was no where near busy. And authentic? Please!

My wife and i went there on Sunday, Lions game day. We walked in notice not overly busy so why not have quick lunch. The first thing our waitress said we are out of guacamole, and chorizo. I ordered flautus she said i would 3 flautus with my dinner. 30 min later no lunch and like i said not really busy. So we attempted to cancel our lunch because getting 30 min before game time. they bring out the food, beans tasted like can food rice over cooked and 2 flautus (very small). we will never go back. We felt our waitress was avoiding us because of the time. So we paid for 2 draft beers and ate in the stadium.
As a business owner you know Sunday is a busy day and be prepared so you dont run out of food. When we left other people started to complain.

Really poor service. Food took forever. We had a group of almost 20 and they thought it was a good idea to give us a brand new waiter. He wasnt able to answer any questions and messed up every order. There was hair in the food and when we informed out waiter he told us «well it isnt mine.» This place blows massive weiners!
We were there 4 days ago. On Thursday. Not to beat a dead horse but it got way worse. When we informed our waiter that we felt this wasnt a good experience we were answered with «sorry but it is what it is.» Then it took 30 minutes for him to figure the checks out. When he returned with everyone elses check and I inquired about mine he responded with «well it would be nice if you helped me out.» I told him that wasnt my job and he told me that i should «just shut up.»

Facts only as I really didn’t get the full «Taqo experience». Our group showed up around 6:45 on a Friday before a Tigers game hoping to have a few drinks and some food knowing we’d miss a few innings. Right as we sat down I asked the waitress what was good there. She indicated pretty much everything but the tacos.
10 minutes in they took our drink and food order. The waitress made some guesses on what was on tap, but said she «wasn’t really sure».
25 minutes in the waitress was shocked we didn’t have salsa or waters yet.
30 minutes in we got our waters and salsa. We were warned the salsa was very hot because they ran out of regular salsa. Some people at our table couldn’t handle the spicy salsa so asked if regular salsa can be made. The waitress said it was downstairs and asked if we really wanted her to get it for us. We said yes because we like salsa.
40 minutes later she brought us pico de gallo and said «I don’t really know about all that».
Over an hour in and we don’t have our drinks or food. We felt bad but couldn’t afford to spend 3 hours at Taqo and miss the whole game. We waited for the wait staff another 15 minutes to let them know, but they never came so we left and tipped the wait staff for whatever just happened.

Considering we have been sitting for over an hour and a half for our food on a Wednesday afternoon at noon– i ask absolutely not impresed. It is a little silly. The food want even that good…
Waited forever for drink orders… had to ask for salsa and lemons multiple times.
Some food came out 20 minutes before the rest of the table. Really, 20 minutes?! So part of the table was completed with their meal while the rest was still waiting. Then the next round of food came and others were still waiting for 15 more minutes. Jesus… we ordered tacos. Everything came out cold. Shredded chicken was not even edible.
And gratuity was added to the bill…
Totally ridiculous.
Finished drinks, no offer to refresh. Anywhere would be better…
Multiple people were overcharged. No apologies for the delay in food, messed up food, overcharging or anything…
Definitely will not be back.
Missed over 45 minutes of the game because of this slow and disgusting place!

I came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend and a Groupon for $ 40 in food and drinks. We definitely got our money’s worth! We tried the chicken enchiladas, duck taco, mahi taco, and shrimp taco. They were all great but the duck one took the cake! The chicken enchiladas were a little spicier than I’m used to (not SPICY spicy, just a little more than most) but it was a welcome spin!
I had a pineapple margarita that was really yummy, but I’d probably stick to beer next time to keep my bill down. It was a very large non-​mix margarita so it was worth the price, but I’d do some delicious looking waffle fries instead next time.
Service was friendly but a little slow when it came time for the bill. We were enjoying our drinks still so it’s cool.
All in all, great experience and we’ll be back!

First off, let’s talk about the music. IT’S LIVE. sorta. Well at least it sounds like it. A mega-​phone is available, super-​glued to the wall outside to expand the volume.
Next, let’s talk about how the margaritas are big– 32, and «made the night before with patron» says the waiter. They are strong, but not tasty.
All of that being said, and not to mention the food is terrible, this place is dope. The folks are extremely nice and the service is awesome. Honestly who cares what the bullshit food is like. It’s Mexican food in Detroit. I would come back here 100 times and in fact I’m headed back here right now.

I have been here twice, both times for drinks. They have a nice drink menu and the house margaritas come in three sizes. If you get the largest one, you should probably share! I got the drink called the «south beach». It was a blue, creamy, piña colada type drink that was served on the rocks. Really good! We were also given complimentary chips and salsa which were super tasty. It wasn’t very busy when we were there and my boyfriend had to wait a little bit of time for another drink. I like coming to this place to start a night out and have some drinks. I will definitely be back to try the food next time!

I mainly only review on places I love. I have been to this restaurant twice and had great service and food both times.
The salsa you get when initially sitting is amazing! It’s the perfect amount of hot without getting too nuts! You have to try a margarita since tequila is their specialty! I went with a lime 32oz on ice and loved it. My pork and shrimp tacos were very good and I look forward to trying more on their menu!

Very disappointed. Definitely nowhere near authentic. I suggest traveling a couple miles down the road to Southwest Detroit for Mexican food.
They were out of the menu items that we specifically went there for.
Ordered the carnita burrito which was mainly stuffed with beans. Seasonings were overly «hot», couldn’t really enjoy or determine the flavor.
My friend ordered the chicken enchiladas and was also disappointed with the very dried out rice n beans she was served.

Why did I come back here after they stole my credit card number, along with 14 other people from the same party? Because the food was decent and I could still pay cash and be safe.
Not Any More — They changed the menu, the burrito was dry shredded chicken with rice and beans… nothing else. Also, no more free chips and salsa, it’s now $ 6! Go home TAQO you’re drunk

I was pleasantly surprised! I have nothing, but good things to say about this place.
I dined on the patio with a friend on a Saturday early evening. Our server was Ross and he was excellent. He was personable, attentive and funny! We asked him for a recommendation on a marg and he directed us to the Smurfrita frozen. It was great, of course on the sweeter side, but for being frozen still had a slight kick. The small was a generous size. The margaritas go as big as a large which is a 32 oz glass!
We ordered the guacamole for an app and it was AWESOME! Loved it! The ingredients all seemed fresh and it was so darn tasty! They add sunflower seeds which was different, but a nice added touch. OMG I totally recommend the gauc, I’m salivating just thinking about it. (Also to note the complimentary chips and salsa are great as well, I’m picky when it comes to my restaurant salsa and this reminded me of the salsa you get in Mexican town).
For the main entrée we had the enchiladas (the Ranchero not the suiza). It was a great dish. The food wasn’t dry and was compacted with flavor. The beans weren’t a slam dunk for me, but that’s just my taste buds. My friend who has studied the Mexican culture extensively and has visited Mexico many times was also super pleased with everything!
The décor is colorful, the atmosphere is fun and everything tasted great! It’s a win win to come here! I’ll be bringing my family in to try this place very soon!

What killed this for me was the service. Our poor waitress was waiting on her tables and bussing /​cleaning the other waitstaff’s tables. Not many veggie options or beans made without pork, so I had to settle for the garlic shrimp which wasn’t bad, but I had like a total of six shrimp as my entrée. I asked for no rice and to double the veggies, I received nothing. And our food took over a half an hour to come out.

The night started off well… Friends, birthday celebration, whipped cream on your nose and a free shot of tequila.
And then my experience turned more into a headache. And I wish I could blame the tequila.
We had a big party but it wasn’t packed at all. Everyone was trying to start their night right and order margaritas and a simple dinner. Super simple like 3 tacos and rice.
Our server forgot someone’s drink for like 20 minutes and it seemed like he couldn’t multi-​task and take other orders while grabbing the forgotten marg. it wasn’t even the 20 minute marg incident that made us mad, it was the service when it came to our food.
I got my food first which I was happy with. Literally the next plate came 15 minutes later and it came out one at a time… Most of the plates were wrong. The server thought he served everyone but he didn’t. 3 people were still missing their food. The server mentioned talking to his manager and getting a discount because he saw our frustration. It took about another 10 minutes for people to get their food and when it came to the bill, the server got real defensive when we mentioned the discount saying he couldn’t do anything for us and he’d grab the manager if we really wanted to complain.
I love tacos. But not this taqo

I really liked this place alot, but after tonight I’m never coming back. Food was salty, service was a complete disgrace. I bring all of my friends, family, and coworkers here, but I will not be recommending this place anymore.
Our waiter got almost every single order wrong. Most of us didn’t even get the food or drinks we asked for. Ugh so disappointing. I was going to take everyone to Rub Pub next door, but passed on that after we finally got our bills.
The management needs to whip their staff into shape and closely monitor the quality of food here.
