St. CeCe’s was great! We had a cozy seat in this this dim pub. The drinks were interesting, we loved the Hibiscus-infused gin drink(forget the name). I’m obsessed with Hibiscus, so we just had to try this. It was an oddly refreshing drink. I had a burger and my date had a steak, both were delish, well-prepared, and the waiter was super nice!

Walked in, the place was buzzing. We stood in the entry way for about 3 min but didn’t see a sign or host, so we asked the bar tender if we seat ourselves. He told us to sit where we like. We walked into the dining area and picked a table in the middle of the room. We sat and we chatted, looked at the Metro Times, chatted some more. 10 minutes go by and after seeing the waiter work the room, notice he had ignore us. Thinking maybe he didn’t see us, my husband made eye contact, smiling and still he avoided our table. After 25 minutes and having not been greeted, we left. My husband walked out before me, I walked slower behind him… kind of Eyeoreing, with my head down, feeling sad that I wasn’t drinking and eating. When I arrived outside still not having been noticed, I looked at my husband and said. «I feel like I’m going to cry» and he replied«me too». St. Cece’s…definitely going back… smh

Not really sure how often they change their menu, but the last time I had the ravioli was super delicious… But this time, they changed it up. Not sure if its me, but ravioli is a no go. The filling is super bitter! Like I dont mind a little bitter, but that really turned me off. The sauce is thick but not smooth and just tasted ok. I was just disappointed. Bc the last time I had it, few months ago, it was super delicious & during dine drink detroit. I came back bc the ravioli was so good. Please change it back. But other wise, their pork sliders are good. Love the amount of sauce they put, the flavors blend so well together. I also love the scotch eggs. Very flavorful. Kinda pricey but hey, its a specialty. Wish there were two tho. Dont go here if u wanna go for a dinner on the weekend and want a semi quiet ambient. It’s definitely a pub, and gets noisy. I’d def come back for the scotch eggs and sliders. But very sad about the ravioli. And im sure it’s a good bar scene if you’re looking for that and chill place with good food.

I love this place. They gave a great menu and large drink selection. The service it’s always really good. I don’t return to a lot of places, but this is one that I’ll continue to go back to.

It smelled like the sewer backed up the last time my friends and I stumbled in here, but I can’t complain, especially since my friend ended up having a 20-minute conversation with some well-coiffed dude from the local news who had a whole bunch of cougars hanging on his every word. Aside from the solid cougar-to-coiffed dude ratio, this place also has some above-average food — and it’s easily the best restaurant I’ve ever been to that has decorative armor lining its walls(suck on that, Medieval Times!). Although, I don’t recommend eating here often, as most of the dishes are high in both salt and fat — two defining characteristics of 1990s television star Dennis Franz. Equating a restaurant to Dennis Franz is not necessarily a good thing, unless you’re a buffet in Roseville, or a fairly awesome, dimly lit pub slinging inexpensive mixed drinks and Monte Cristos to cougars and well-coiffed dudes.

This is one of the best bars in the world. The atmosphere is great and the food is amazing. Beyond amazing. And every time I go up to the bar, I’m amazed by the efficiency of service. I usually can get a round of drinks extraordinarily fast even when it’s really busy. And the staff doesn’t immediately kick you right out after last call(Although I’m not encouraging you to do that.) Seriously, best brunch in Detroit.

First time here, and I’m impressed! Friendly staff, quick service, and I absolutely love the fireplace. The food was great– the oven roasted chicken just melts in your mouth. I will definitely come back!

This is a pretty damned cool little place. Dark wood, well stocked bar, cozy tables and places to hang all around the place. They also happen to do a whole bunch of stuff with the local art community. Both recent times that I’ve been there, there’s been art on the wall for sale, plus the artists themselves hanging out ready to answer questions, talk about commissions, all sorts of cool stuff. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. The only«ding» I can give them is that both times, the food’s been really, Really, REALLY slow to arrive… completely forgotten about in one case until I asked after a half hour.

Don’t really know where to start with this place so I’ll separate it into pros a cons. I really wanted to like this place for an easy, good meal but it seems like they are trying to be something they are not. Pros: Flavor of burger itself was good Overall, the food was above average Cons: Service was awful «Bacon salt» was an up charge but I have no idea what it did to my fries. $ 3 for literally 12 fries Poor beer selection Expensive for what it is They put a decent spinach artichoke dip through a blender and then charged $ 7 for it.

We stopped in for early brunch, only one other customer in the place, it looks really cool inside and it has a nice long bar with a good seating area. The menu is a little small but it has some interesting choices with different daily specials and the food menu seams to be well put together. I tried the scotch egg and it was cooked great with a little runny left inside, it would of been great it they would have gave you two and more dipping sauce. For my brunch I got the monte cristo it was good but with the turkey it made the sandwich a little dry, but it was still tasty, we did like there fries with balsamic vinegar. And get their mixed drinks they can mix a fine cocktail they have some great choices and good beer choices. I did enjoy this place and look forward to going back.

First of all we arrived at 12:15 and our food was FINALLY served at 1:40. I enjoy a relaxed sunday but that wait was ridiculous! I ordered house-made corned beef hash at $ 9 a plate. It was served with two .89 cent crappy eggs and a very small portion of corned beef hash and dry toast. See the picture! I was so disappointed, won’t go back and this wasn’t a pop-up. They have been in business long enough now to know better. Word spreads fast so be good or this is what you get!!! UnilocalED with a 1 star! Everyone in the group was upset. Saw the help leave & come back 3 times with honey bee run for jug o’ oj, cheap eggs & cilantro. Hmmmm! Get your act together!

I’m confused about other people’s ratings on this place. I love it and wished it was closer to my neighborhood. I was really surprised when I walked in and saw the variety of alcohol available in the bar. They even had a few bottles of Two James Spirits which is my newest local favorite. The drinks were reasonably priced(probably $ 2.00 cheaper than Two James), so I would not mind staying for a second drink. My favorite part of it? The scotch egg. That is all. You’ll have to go there to try it. I’m not going to give you any details. :D

To all the people who seem to be confused or upset about terrible service and bad food some nights, be informed that this place does pop-ups. That means other people will sometimes take over the kitchen and cook their own food and use their own staff for the night. The bartenders are St. Cece’s but the wait staff is not. And the food is different from the normal St. Cece’s menu. They do it quite often. Last night was Gabriel of Taste Budz food truck serving very fancy food at great prices and it was delicious. The last Tuesday of every month is Dr. Sushi, which is also delicious. Their normal menu is still pretty good too, although I haven’t had everything. They also have a unique cocktail menu and everything I’ve had has been good. So if you’re going here for dinner just be aware of whether it’s the Cece’s menu or a pop up and write your review based on that

What a great place, I’m mad at myself for waiting so long to find this place. Had the goat cheese and honey brussle sprouts and for the fist time in my life I loved brussel sprouts. The beer selection is varied enough for all levels of drinkers and the look and feel of the old church is wonderful. The staff is awesome, friendly and helpful. Changing menu means I want to keep coming back to find what is new. Love it.

St. Cece’s excels as a bar! Both the staff and guests are always very friendly and up for conversation. Their cocktail menu has quite a few unique options and they have a great selection of beer, wine, and liquor. My favorite cocktail is the Cardinal, a drink with hibiscus infused gin. The bar is beautiful. They have a fire going constantly, either in the fireplace or fire pit. The atmosphere is relaxing and conducive to conversation. They host pop-up caterers on Tuesdays. I see that some guests don’t understand how the pop-up nights work… Just deal with who ever they brought to serve the food. They do not work with St. Cece’s regularly. They probably have little experience serving food. This is all about encouraging amateur cooks! All of your beverages will be on a separate tab with the bar. Get your own water from the bartender. There is only one bartender and plenty of you. And you’re dealing with pop-up servers, remember? Chill. I know that their regular menu focuses on quality seasonal ingredients. They put a lot of heart into the details of everything they offer. They even have their own pastry chef! I think they most often run into trouble by running out of items or not being prepared for unexpectedly high volumes. I’ve been to Cece’s a few times for the food, and admittedly they’re usually out of a lot of things, but I’ve been there a million more times for the bar. There must be something magical in that old Irish pub. It always attracts the most fascinating people.

I will preface this review by saying we had a special menu that night, so it’s hard to judge a restaurant by that, but I’ll try anyways. I love the atmosphere of this place — unique, cozy, unpretentious and homey. The fireplace is a great addition, and sitting in a church pew for dinner is an interesting experience to be sure. It is, however, very dark. I could hardly see my hubby’s face, which was not conducive to a romantic date haha. Our service was great — not much to say there other than it was better than most places. Thumbs up there. Our food was quite delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly. However it was also not particularly outstanding in any way. This is why I feel like it’s almost unfair to judge a restaurant on a special menu. I’ve seen some of their food on FB etc. and it looks far more interesting than the solid but boring Branzino we had that night. I’d love to try it again sometime. Also, they were out of a ton of stuff. Both of our first choices, they were out of, and it was only 6 on a Friday night. That doesn’t bode well for late night eating.

I don’t know… I’m torn. I haven’t frequented this place much, but the two times I’ve been here have been complete polar opposite experiences. The first time was on Valentine’s Day a couple of years back, when they ran a special menu complete with amuse-bouche and dessert. The main course I had, a winter root vegetable tart/pie, was quite literally one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in the city. I still think about it sometimes on cold winter nights. Fast forward to the last time I went: I ordered a vegetarian noodle soup bowl, as did the two friends I was with. Uh… are noodle soup entrees supposed to come out in shallow dishes and be lukewarm at best? All three of them. Worst yet, even when it came back reheated as requested, it was bland, and the negligent amount of broth made for unsatisfying slurping action. I’m not sure if I can base my opinions on a special menu with entrees that are not offered regularly, but that fond memory might be the only thing that would bring me back. I do like the feel of this place, unique and unpretentious, and the staff is always pleasant. Bottom line: splendid hit-or– lukewarm miss. Hope you get a hit!

I have been here 2X now and both were good but nothing outstanding. Once was for a work function and the food was good however took a long time to come out. I would not recommend this place for large groups of 20 or more. The food came out so spaced out that people were done eating while others had not even got their food. The flavors were good but my fish was very overcooked. The second time I cam with just 2 friends for drinks and dessert. We had beer which they have a great selection of on tap. We also got the Irish car bomb cake. Not bad however tasted more like a hostess ding dong than Irish car bomb. Would come back here for apps and drinks the scotch egg looked good.

Boyfriend took me here for our anniversary, and we had a great time. St. Cece’s was perfect for our anniversary. I’ve been asking(demanding) that we go here since I started following St. Cece’s on facebook and reading about their amazing specials. St. Cece’s is in Corktown. It’s got a parkinglot, which is really convenient, and a patio, though we didn’t sit outside. Inside, the restaurant is dimly lit. There’s a bar area in front and seating in the back with huge tables and a fireplace. There are stained glass windows, which look really cool. The waitstaff is friendly but relaxed. It’s a fun mix of special food and laid back atmosphere. Based on the Unilocal reviews on the menu on the website, they must change the menu very frequently. St. Cece’s also has an impressive beer list, wine list, and some delicious cocktails(many of which featuring elderflower). Boyfriend and I order two appetizers, the duck scotch egg and the mushroom sliders, and they were really good. He had the beef medallions, and I had cheese ravioli. Mine was great, his was better than great. Get the beef medallions. We seriously considered dessert(they had some kind of amazing sounding banana split thing happening) but were too full. All in all, St. Cece’s was fun, delicious, and a special place for an anniversary.
