I ordered hunan beef over the phone. They said it would be ready in just 10 mins. I showed up a minute or two early and it was ready for me. The rice was sticky, which I dislike and I’ve never experienced at other Chinese restaurants, but I realize some people like it like that. The sauce was so awesome! Definitely made up for the rice. Great flavor and just the right amount of spice. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. Just a tad still crispy. I could tell they really were fresh like their website says. I would eat here again.

Their food is very ok. Every time I order my meals extra spicy. It took me a few times to realize they don’t add anything spicy to it when they cook it they give you the hot oil and you’re supposed to mix it in yourself. When I ask for extra hot oil or siratcha my results very from time to time. It’s hard to stray to far from work during the winter so I’m stuck going here if I want Thai food. I just wish their food was better than ok and I could actually get something spicy from here.

I’m not a fan of Asian cuisine but I really like the Rice Bowl. Go with Mongolian Chicken or Beef if you like a bit of spicy. So good and a you get a lot of food.

Stopped into Rice Bowl after biking from the Dexter and Davison area. While getting my bike tuned up RIVERFRONT to add(which was a beautiful site) my brother and I decide to have a early dinner here. The energy in this place is great, and the service was exceptional. I’ll be coming here for lunch/dinner a lot. On the way out they even let me refill my water bottle for the ride home.

Went here with a co-worker for lunch. We ordered the fried rice and veggie dish called kiss me baby. The rice was so salty it was almost inedible. The veggies were good still crisp and fresh tasting. The service was ok as well fast.

Egg fooyung? Egg foo young? Yong? Yung? No matter how you spell it, you won’t find any better than the fu yung eggs served at Rice Bowl Fresh Asian Kitchen. The long lunchtime lines gives you more time to think about the mouthwatering egg foo young. I appreciate that they have sriracha as a condiment.

A good spot for lunch or a quick dinner. The service is fast and efficient, and the food, while not exceptional, is better than most quick-serve Chinese restaurants and lives up to the restaurant’s billing for freshness. I had the sweet and sour chicken, while my wife had the fried rice with beef, chicken, and shrimp.

I went to this place thrice. Once, should have been it. The food is just your standard American/Chinese fair. Nothing more. I tried their Express restaurant — average. A few months ago, I tried their Indian Curry. O.K. It was not bad although it was a Japanese curry, Nothing to do with Indian. Today, just because of hunger — I tried their Pad Ped. Never Ever get Thai food from a Chinese place !!! There are much better places in Detroit. Even though the restaurant may be a little walk from the Ren Cen, do it. This place just lacks !

I eat here frequently due to working at the RenCen. Restaurant is just a skip and a hop away across the Skywalk from the office. The food here is pretty reasonable in price and variation of eating habits(Vegan /no meat etc;). This is a quality establishment that serves quality food. If you do eat here weekly then you will quickly memorize the menu(but that is the same with any place). Anyway, give it a try, try a noodle or rice bowl. I typically go with fried Tofu or Vegetables.

Quick service us a plus for me. My wife and I stopped in before taking in a movie at the Ren Cen Theatre. I had the shrimp egg foo yung and it was delicious. My wife had a rice bowl and liked it.

The Good: this place has great rice/noodle bowls. Greta flavors and quick service. Perfect for a lunch stop when you don’t have a lot of time. Kitchen is right out in the open so you can see everything that is going on. The menu size will accommodate the pickiest of diners. The Bad: its a little cramped. Be ready to hear every conversation going on around you. It can get a bit loud, with everyone so close you can tell people are trying to talk over each other. The Ugly: none… I really like the efficiency of this place.

Of the Asian options around downtown and midtown, our work group finds ourselves going back to Rice Bowl over the others. Dynasty by WSU and the Lodge has seen its quality slip in keeping its prices low. Our new boss had us try a Chinese place by DMC and it tasted like hospital food Chinese. It may cost around 11 bucks, but our group shoots out to Rice Bowl to get our food. We always bring two people, so one can park and the other can run up and get it. They are inconsistent in the spice levels of the food. They suggest asking for«light spice» if you want it below medium, but not bland. This spice level varies from horder to order, so every time is a crapshoot. Two coworkers always get the Almond Chicken. I get either the SIngapore Noodles or the Royal Family(Hot).

Service was fast but NOT enough food for the price $ 9.00(my dish was on special this particular day) for Chinese lunch is pretty steep. I ordered the General Tso chicken with Fried Rice the rice was BLAND&DRY and the chicken had an after taste however the sauce was decent. I will not order this dish again and I probably won’t go there again.

The prices are too high for what you get. The food is 3 out of 5 but it is not worth $ 10 for take out. The pics of the owner with various pointless«celebrities» is pathetic. Who cares if a news person or some tool from City Council ate here? lol

I work right across the street(or habitrail tunnel) in the RenCen, so a few coworkers and myself go here every couple of weeks or so — whenever we can agree on Chinese food for lunch. To be honest, the food here is nothing special. It’s just your typical, run-of-the-mill Chinese food — very similar to every Chinese take-out place I have ever been to. That being said, it’s not a bad choice for a sit-down lunch option in downtown Detroit. One of my coworkers often asks for his General Tso’s to be made«extra-spicy» and the staff there accommodates him. The only problems I’ve ever had were with one waitress in particular. Several times we were confronted by her about our tip amount. Once was an honest mistake by my coworker and the other was before we even paid our bill, but both were totally unacceptable. I will definitely go back, I just hope we don’t get that particular waitress again.

I drove 20 minutes from Oakland County to get food from here. I called in my order and drove downtown since I had a gift certificate here. The Rice Bowl is on the 2nd floor of the Millender Center. You will want to park on Brush(if you are coming down Larned). I drove around twice because my GPS had me stopping in front of the Courtyard Marriott(which is technically correct). On to the Rice Bowl. It is a nicely laid out restaurant and you would think that it would be 5 star Chinese food given the website pictures(the web designer did a good job with that). However this food was no better than the visit I had to the College Park location:(Sadly I got home with my General Tso chicken, Sesame Chicken, and Chicken Veggie Stir-Fry meals to feed the family(figured we try different things since this as the first time here). Sesame Chicken– omg sweet. Idk know what’s in the sauce, but I can bet it’s a bunch of sugar. General Tso’s Chicken– Spicy yet good. I would buy this again. Chicken stir-fry with vegetables= FAIL. The crystal white sauce taste like some sort of bland gravy. If you don’t eat this when you first get it hot, you are guaranteed to toss it once you look at it cold(yuk!) The sauce reminds me of hamburger grease when it cools off & solidifies.(Now after you envision that think of how I felt when I looked at the food when I went to eat it for lunch the next day.(I bought it and put it in the fridge for lunch). Egg rolls– Traditional veggie egg rolls. The fried rice– I can’t even begin to tell you how much of a disappoint it was. Dry fried rice with NOTHING in it. If you want chicken added that’s $ 3 extra, vegetables $ 2 extra(they throw in a couple pieces of shredded carrots, onions, bean sprouts, and egg), brown rice $ 1 extra. I would suggest the vegetable fried rice over the plain rice. The only way you would eat the plain rice is if it was mixed with the super sweet sesame sauce. Otherwise it’s not work $ 9.54 for a meal. The best thing out of the meal was the reusable plastic container that the food came in. After tossing out the Chicken Stir Fry, I kept the microwaveable container for future use. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because they actually got the order right.

My friends and I came here while moving friends out of Millender. I swear the only reason why this place is getting 2 stars is because the waiter was very attentive(though slightly smug, but whatever, it’s Detroit). The place looks cool and it has tons of potential. It’s clean and generally inoffensive… until you get your food. My Indian friend tasted the Singapore noodles and concluded that he could make this, it was an Indian style ramen noodle called Maggie noodles. The spice combination is nearly the same — loaded with turmeric(for the record it was not«hot» spicy until I added some sriacha to make it taste like something). The rice bowls, I hate to disappoint you, are nothing more than bland fried rice dishes. This place just had me going, what the hell? Celery makes you«nu-Asian»? What??? There’s celery in everything! Where are the pea-pods… broccoli… ginger… garlic… fresh green deliciousness? Ridiculously disappointing.
