it has been closed for about a year now. Ive seen some evidence of remodeling but not much.

This used to be a favorite hang out of mine until one night someone ran into the back of my car. That was the last time I had been until recently. I had to pick up a cousin and passed by here on the way. Figured I would pick up lunch. This place is just as I remember it, bullet proof glass and all. The menu hasn’t change at all. The service is pretty decent as well as the wait time. One thing about coney islands are that they are pretty quick. My salad and pita bread were good. They aren’t stingy on the ingredients but it slipped my mind that they only use iceberg lettuce in their salads. Oh how I’ve really grown and now understand that you don’t use iceberg lettuce for anything except garnishing a plate(if that). I advise ordering ahead this place stays packed. I’ll give them one thing, they have never screwed up an order of mine no matter the crowd size!

L. George is a small franchise in Detroit that never fails me, no matter what location I go to. This one on 6mile was a favorite because it is located right across the street from my high school. We would also skip lunch and come here :-) Although it is a super hole-in-the-box diner, the food is very delicious. Most people don’t eat here because it is so small, so they just order their food to go. My absolute favorite item on this L. George menu is the Chicken Salad. Honestly, it is simply a salad with chicken on it… but the grilled chicken is awesome! In fact, any meal you get that has chicken on it, you will probably love it. The prices are super reasonable coney island prices… I think about $ 5 for the salad. Of course they have other coney island favors, such as chicken wings, omelets, coney dogs, etc.
