Great place to hang with friends, grab a beer and try some sliders. Always ask about their mystery meat. Personally I like their Korean and Gyro, and lamb sliders. Fries are ok.

I FINALLY got to experience the amazingness that is Green Dot Stables. As a Detroit native, now living in Chicago, I have been very excited to hear that Detroit had been evolving it’s foodie scene. I’ll start by saying that GDS opens at 11, I arrived around 11:45 and it was already packed with hungry people(sign 1. that it was going to be great). My bf and I decided to sit at the bar to avoid that wait. Right away we we’re greeted and helped with. Our bartender told us what was popular, and also gave suggestions based off his favorites. At the end we got the following: truffle fries, Hot Brown, gyro, Cuban, Korean, fried chicken, and the mystery meat. My favorite hands down was the mystery meat, which was bacon wrapped rabbit, with parsnips and chipotle mayo(yummmmmmm! I wanted to order like 5 more of these. the chipotle mayo was surprisingly packed with heat and had a garlicky taste.). In regards to the regular sliders, all of them we’re tasty, but if I had to make recommendations is say the Korean, and fried chicken. yum yum yum. Aside from the food I also had a few of the cocktails. Moscow mule, and another one with scotch, triple sec and raspberry lemonade(I don’t remember the name). Anyways it was tasty, if you want something sweet you’ll like that. After eating our food at lightening speed, our bill came and it was only $ 31! I will definitely come back when I visit. Thanks for not letting me down GDS, you’re one example of Detroit making a come back.

Only giving a 3 mostly because the wait is ridiculous, and I feel they could manage it much better if they allowed reservations or used a service like the NoWait app(waited almost 2 hours to be seated for a party of 4).The drink prices were really reasonable, and they used local beers and liquors. For the food, I had the kale salad, chicken paprikas soup, truffle fries, and the hot brown slider. I didn’t really like the slider, but the salad, soup, and fries were absolutely delicious! I’d like to go back sometime and try a few more sliders and some of their craft drinks.

Green Dot Stables is located in a very unassuming place in Detroit. There doesn’t seem to be much else around and it might surprise you how well of business they do here. It’s not close to downtown or any other major thoroughfares that I know of. My friends and I went here at 8pm on the Tuesday night between Christmas and New Year’s and I can’t believe how packed they were on this time and day! Maybe it was because of the week of the year? Or maybe they’re always this busy? I recommend giving yourself plenty of time to get a table! You might need it. It was still pretty busy when we were done around 10:30. Though my friend told me they had $ 2 – 3 craft beers, I wouldn’t believe it until I arrived and ordered one. Or two. Or three. I can see why they do so well, it definitely brings the customers in the door. Their prices on food aren’t bad either. They are popular for their«sliders»(see: small burgers). The unique thing here is the range of sliders on the menu and the many types. This isn’t White Castle! Much higher quality. We were told we had an hour wait, but it ended up being a little less. There is room for waiting inside, so you have to go outside on their back patio to wait for your table. This would be awful int eh winter, but no worries: the back patio is enclosed and heated. You can order your drinks at the bar and head out back. They do not serve food nor drink on the back patio, at least in the winter. But I bet they’d make a killing if they did! Of course then their waiting area would be full of people ordering their cheap craft beer, so I guess this makes sense. It encourages people to want/need to get a table eventually. The staff are pretty strict to their rules about where you can wait, where you can sit, etc. I was scolded for sitting at the bar and not wanting to order food, only a drink. To be fair, I only sat down to order my drink to avoid the line. So, lesson learned? Once we were seated at our table, it was pretty nice. The service was not stellar, but they were very busy. I just don’t feel like the staff had a really positive attitude toward the customers. A birthday party at the table next to ours was told they weren’t allowed to have a cake in the restaurant. Another example of how strict they are on their rules.(no exceptions, not even on your birthday!). I had a serious hipster vibe from the staff, not the friendly hipster-type, the snobby hipster-type. Our server changed on us in the middle of our meal and it was explained that they were changing sections… ?? Our food was a whole different story and the primary reason I’ll be going back here as soon as I get the chance. I ordered the black bean slider and the quinoa slider and some french fries. All were delicious and worth the price I paid! Although I am vegetarian, the others at my table all ordered meat and enjoyed their sliders and fries as well. They won’t split the bill here(again: service) so don’t plan for that. The food here is so unlike something you can get anywhere else that I know of and they have great beer for cheap, that I could see this being someplace I try to go whenever I’m in Detroit. In fact, I told my wife I can’t wait to take here there when we’re back in town. Hopefully the wait staff is nicer or business is a little slower next time or both!

I really like some of the sliders– it’s impressive that they have really good/delicious/interesting vegetarian options, and not just your basic«black bean burger» or the like, but they have things like chipotle peanut butter and jelly, or the most amazing grilled cheese slider you’ll ever hope to eat in your life. And it’s pretty affordable too, in a place where they could totally afford to gouge their patrons a little(because, hipster haven…) so I really appreciate that. My only gripe is the atmosphere, which is just a personal preference. It’s a little claustrophobia-inducing and dark in there, and service tends to be hit or miss. Still, one of my go-to spots in Detroit, and a must-visit location for any out-of-towners.

I love this little place. It’s a great venue and very popular so if your going in a group remember your entire party must be there to be seated. The menu holds lots of great sliders and I’m a fan of the Truffle Fries. I also like the«Mystery Meat Slider of the day». It’s basically a daily change to the menu featuring a different protein. All sandwiches are the same price.

My first venture to Green Dot Stables was good enough to prompt a second one. Although they are frequently packed at pretty much all hours, the delight of small and delicious sliders calls my name on occasion. The interior is what I imagine as a renovated horse racing bar from the 70s. It’s not quite chic, while still having a lot of charm. The menu is what brings people here though. Select from a LOOOOONG list of sliders — from a traditional Cuban, to the Korean(a burger with peanut butter and kimchi on it), to the Fried Bologna — there is something on the menu for everyone. Not to mention their daily mystery meat, which on my last visit was a pork belly slider(which was meh) or a surf and turf. Each slider runs 2 – 4 $, so it’s cheap eating no matter which way you go. Outside of the main course sliders, the truffle fries or poutine fries and the dessert sliders such as S’mores round out the meal. Then lets talk about their drink selection — a full bar, expansive rotating beer menu, and a daily mystery mixed drink and mystery beer. The only draw back for me has been the bad to mediocre service I’ve gotten. The food keeps me coming back though.

When in town, I met a friend for dinner, and he picked Green Dot Stables. The wait was pretty long, and I wish there had been a bar in the back waiting area, but other than that, Green Dot was great. We each had a few sliders and fries. I had the buffalo chicken and the mystery meat, which was a pork belly. Both were awesome. The buffalo sauce was tasty, and the pork belly was a huge, moist portion. I had the poutine fries, and they were also great, full of great gravy and soft cheese. I’m so happy to have experienced yet another great place in Detroit. It’s definitely back on the rise.

Holy crap. How can they make any money!?! Oh wait, it’s cause it’s so popular they can get away with it. So I was trying to find poutine places in and around Detroit as well, we couldn’t go across the border since the boyfriend forgot his residency card *slaps hand on forehead* So going on Unilocal I found this spot. I said well why not? It had the best looking poutine out of every other spot and had potential authentic curds. So off we went! We arrived at Green Dot Stables and there was private parking around it. We walked inside and well wasn’t expecting to see what we saw! It’s definitely a bar atmosphere with dim lighting and sports on tvs. There’s definitely a race horse/jockey theme and thus why«stables.» There are small tables as well as booths. We ended up getting one of the last ones right near the heater which was a-ok with me since I was freezing! Our waitress was sweet and very accomodating. She let us know what to expect since it was our first time there. She suggested 2 – 3 sliders per person since most of the menu is sliders with some sides. Although she did suggest that, we ended up just having a couple sliders and poutine and a side of kale salad with of course a cider. The sliders were about $ 3 each which was super cheap. One was a take on turkey dinner and the other a korean style slider with kim chee and… surprise peanut butter! Both quite flavorful. The kale salad was a winner for me though. Very fresh with a lemon citrus kick. The poutine wasn’t too shabby either but it ain’t real poutine! I would totally come back here again in a heartbeat as the prices were on point and the service and atmosphere casually hip. Go here instead of spending your money at White Castle for your sliders!

I’ve visited Green Dot a countless number of times. I love taking people who have never been there, it’s just such a cool place. The sliders are undeniably unique. My personal favorite is the fried chicken. It is served topped with sage maple syrup, gives it a ‘chicken and waffles’ vibe. My last visit, the server suggested trying it with cheese and bacon, quite good but I think I am a purist when it comes to my favorite slider. The truffle fries are to die for, they are so flavorful. Other personal favorites include: gyro, catfish, bbq bacon, corned beef. They are all delicious in their own way. They also have some vegetarian options on the menu, helpful if you have a big group. The drinks here are good and cheap. I love the Wallbanger, peach vodka and OJ. Simple and strong. Zug Island Iced Tea was a bit too hearty for my palate. Nowadays, you kind of have to coordinate when you come here because it is always so busy. It’s not uncommon to come here and have to wait for a table. Try a weekday before dinner rush would be my suggestion. Either way, it’s worth it!

Great place to check out if visiting Detroit or passing through on the way to Windsor. $ 3 sliders, $ 3 apps, and $ 3 Jim Beam’s were all we could ask for on a recent stopover. Cool, hipster vibe in this horse racing themed dive bar. Dining in we were able to run a pretty respectable gamut of their menu offerings. In a quick rundown for future memory… 5 stars — Cuban, Philly Cheesesteak, Cheeseburger(onions!) 4 stars — Braised Venison Shoulder(Mystery Meat, similar to pot roast), Fried Chicken(w/maple syrup) 3 stars — Hot Brown(decent but dry), Fried Bologna(basic, near bland) All were nearly done to formidable dive bar perfection. Add some garlic or poutine fries, and it’s a great way to end the week or start the weekend. Good place to bring the kids too, although I’d steer clear of bringing the whole soccer team or any sort of mass crowd… space is limited.

This place is a must if you’re in Detroit. The sliders are cheap and pretty damn good. We wanted to try them all but there is no way we would have been able to eat all of them. Here’s what we had… (All are sliders) Fried chicken with maple — good but slightly dry Cuban — AHmazing! Mystery meat of the day(venison) — it was okay Fried bologna — delicious Cheeseburger — solid Philly — pretty good Hot brown — eh, I’ll pass Oh & we had truffle fries. All in all, I was not disappointed. Definitely will go back if we are in the area. Solid spot & pretty cheap.

Prior to flying out of Detroit airport, decided to give this place a try. I’ve had it bookmarked for a while. I wanted to have little sliders and try different types. The waitress was nice and explained that everything on the menu were small sizes, including the salads and fries. It was meant to try bits and pieces of different things. Ordered 6 different sliders between my boyfriend and I. Corned beef — nice taste, like a deli sandwich Philly cheesesteak — this tasted like a burger, didn’t find anything special BBQ bacon — it had a sweet BBQ sauce, and was really good with the bacon and Patty. Tempeh — didn’t know what this was, but had seaweed salad and Wasabi mayo which made this yummy. Mystery meat(salmon) — nice with a mustard sauce. Not over cooked. Fried Chicken — this is like chicken and waffles. It was crispy and sweet from the syrup We got a kale salad on the side. It doesn’t look too appealing since it’s just greens but the vinaigrette was super good!!! I would have ordered another one. Loved it! Can’t wait to come back and try another set!

Yum Yum Yum Yum I mean I cannot say it enough I love this place! I took my entire family here to prove them how great they really are and everybody absolutely fell in love. My kids even tried different things which was a shocker to me and they loved every single thing they tried. Masonic specially loved the marshmallow Nutella slider for dessert at first he was nervous and then he fell in love with it and now he tries to duplicate it at home lol They get back there quick on the weekends so make sure you get there early and be prepared for some darn good food

Cheap drinks and cheap sliders… so many sliders. All kinds of sliders. Chicken, pork, beef, mystery meat, and vegetarian. And they are all wonderful. Been here several times and can’t get enough. $ 3 cocktails and beers is just unbeatable. It gets pretty crowded during prime time so be ready for a little wait if you are going on a Friday afternoon/evening, but I’ve been pretty lucky to get seating instantly each time. See you soon, sliders and drinks.

Excellent food and service every time I have visited, which is over 10 times in the last three years. Try to come at an unusual time, or you will likely be waiting 30 – 90 minutes to sit. This place is very popular among locals and tourists. The concept is kind of like«dim sum» — you pick a variety of small plates to taste. «Dim sum» literally means ordering to your heart’s content, and this is what I do at Green Dot Stables! What I always get: Korean slider(kim chi and peanut butter don’t sound like they should go together, but trust me, they do) I usually will try the Mystery Meat slider too. Go ahead, be a daredevil. 95% of the time, you won’t regret it. And if you do, you’re only out $ 3 for it.

Can’t say enough great things about Green Dot. Fantastic food, quick service, ridiculously cheap and a great atmosphere. They have some quirky rules they will not bend on, so beware. Only complete parties will be seated, no add ons, and no splitting checks. Follow those rules and you’ll have a wonderful night. Every week is a different«mystery meat», which they claim is never again repeated. I always recommend trying it. Sliders are small and will run you $ 3 a piece, but you could put away 3 – 4 per person if you were starving. The vegetarian tempeh is delicious even for meat lovers. The buffalo slider is drenched and the Cajun fries are crispy and a tad spicy. I personally love the rotating beer selection and the Moscow Mule or Mint Julep. No happy hour special necessary –these babies are $ 3 every time.

Blew down to «the Dot» for an early lunch with four of my co-workers as I couldn’t believe that two of them had never been to this venerable house of sliders just two blocks off the river in downtown Detroit. It’s always fun initiating someone new to the joys of a favorite haunt and especially so when is it a such a unique experience. The Green Dot Stables, built around a horse racing-jockey-Racing Forum-OTB-Kentucky Derby kind of theme, serves up no less than 20DIFFERENT $ 2 or $ 3 sliders with some very interesting combinations of ingredients. Examples: the Black Bean Slider w/Tomato Slice and Avacado Sour Cream or the Korean Slider w/a Beef Patty, Peanut Butter and Kimchi… a couple of my favorites. The«Mystery Meat» of the day was the Chicken Curry Slider at three bills… you’ve always got to give the mystery a go. Our group of 5 tried a nice selection of 13 different sliders along with a few nice sides of Truffle & Herb Fries, a Mac & Cheese and an Iceburg Wedge. «The Dot» still earns its stripes with a solid 5 stars… you gotta love this dive.

I liked it, didn’t love it. Sure, the food was plentiful and cheap. So were the crowds. I mean, on a non prime time visit the place was bumping so bad we had to wait for a table, then wait for service, then wait for food and drink. I cannot even imagine the horror there if you chose to make a meal time visit. Ouch! But $ 3 cocktails? Winner. $ 3 sliders? Winner. Tasty and plentiful options? Oh yeah. Beer selection wasn’t as much to my taste as I had hoped but I made do. But being jammed in there, poor service, long waits… Maybe I’m spoiled but I’d rather pay a little extra to avoid all those inconveniences. Now, if I knew beforehand that none of you people would be there, I’d be back in a heartbeat! But I’m never that lucky.

This place was busy, even during a non-peak time. When I saw the prices, I understood the mass appeal. All sliders, beers, wines & many of the cocktails were $ 3. Wish they’d had a few more IPA selections to choose from on their list. Everything we sampled was pretty good. They have a mystery meat slider that the server explains. The day I ate here it was octopus with daikon & an Asian sauce — I got onboard. I also ordered the Hot Brown with chicken, bacon & mornay sauce(tasted more like mayo to me!) I also tasted my husbands Korean burger slider with peanut butter & kimchi. Interesting but I’m glad I didn’t get it. Also got a side of mac & cheese that arrived in a brown ramekin & the Cajun fries I tasted were good. It was pretty tasty bar food at really reasonable prices. Interesting selections that are worthy of a solid 3 – 3.5 star rating. Would definitely go back!

Ótimo local para ver um jogo. Porções pequenas e baratas, assim é possível experimentar pelo menos uns 3 ou 4 «sliders«.
