This store has relocated to Jordan Creek Mall(near the Apple Store/Coach/J Crew) from the East Village. While it’s sad it’s gone from the local flair of the East Village to the mass consumerism of the mall, the new store is much larger with an expanded selection(the East Village store was a showroom, and the mall store is an actual Lulu store). Be prepared when you shop in this store: it’s easy to experience sticker shock. Featuring $ 90 yoga pants, $ 50 tanks, and $ 100+ jackets, this store is not for the faint of heart. IMO, the cost is far too high for the quality, which is just mediocre. I’ve had issues with sheer pants, seams that easily come apart, and colors that bleed… however Lulu will take back any defective merchandise for a full refund(I ALWAYS save my receipts from Lulu purchases for this reason). And of course, the clothes are fashion-forward and just cute as can be. I receive tons of compliments on all my Lulu items. Because of the cost, I always ask myself the following questions when shopping here: «Do I need it?» «Can I get something similar elsewhere?» «Do I LOVE it?» Often, I do need new workout clothes(even good items have a limited life when you workout in them), the Lulu items are unique, and I do love them. The customer service here is what sets the store apart. The employees are super friendly, helpful, and just all-around nice. I have never felt pressured to buy anything either. The store offers free classes(usually yoga, but sometimes boot camp or another class) on the weekends(always Saturdays at 9am but also sometimes there are bonus classes at different times). Follow the store on FB for info on these classes. Finally, if you are an active fitness instructor, be sure to tell them when your purchases are being rung up. You’ll get a nice little surprise. :)

I am a lululemon addict and was very pleased by the service I received at this location when visiting Des Moines from Arizona. The selection was limited as it was a showroom but the area is super cute and the girls working were very helpful in recommending local yoga shops! I hope it does well in this town as it didn’t seem to many people were familiar with the brand.

Very disappointing. I’m a guy and stopped in to shop local and get a Birthday gift and spent $ 70 within 4 min of walking in the door. First, not excepting cash is NOT easier if thats how I want to pay. Second, WOW way to be a bunch of Snooty pretentious snobs. I’ll make sure to let everyone know my experience.

I love yoga and Lululemon is my go to workout wear. From power Ys to wunder unders to scuba hoodies my closet is stocked well. It is so good to see Lulu looking into the Des Moines Market! Now if they would just bring back the Define Jacket?! Complimentary yoga classes on Saturdays @9am.

I am a certifiable Lululemon addict. When I’m traveling and I see a Lulu, I cannot help myself. I am drawn to the store as if by a gravitational pull whereupon I MUST drop a ridiculous amount of money on yoga pants, headbands, tanks, and sports bras. This stuff is really expensive, but it lasts forever and it is the BEST.(Plus they give a discount to dance and yoga teachers, which is truly awesome for me.) Anyway, I was pretty excited to hear that a Lulu showroom was opening in downtown Des Moines. There’s an important key word in there — showroom. This means it’s smaller than a normal Lulu store with a smaller selection of styles and colors. Once someone buys that jacket you love in the size you need, it’s gone forever. And unfortunately, the showroom hours are pretty limited — right now, just Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays with no evening hours. Still, the showroom is super convenient to have since I can now return any of my online purchases in person rather than shipping them back to Washington or driving to Minneapolis. They usually have a pretty nice selection of basics to choose from, though the most popular sizes disappear quickly. It’s got a great location in the East Village — easy parking, easy to get to. And though it’s not a full-fledged store, they are all about getting into the community just like the stores do. They feature a yoga«studio of the month,» they offer free weekly yoga classes on Saturdays, and they have an active Facebook page where they’re always highlighting area classes and encouraging people to discuss their fitness goals. Of course, they highlight new products in the store too, which is nice given the limited shopping hours. The last time I was in, I asked the girls if there was a specific plan with the showroom… in other words, now that I’ve finally got Lulu in my city, are you going to take it away? Apparently the purpose of a showroom is to test the market. I’m crossing my fingers that not only will the showroom stay, but eventually we can get a full-fledged store… then my Lulu addiction would REALLY spiral out of control!
