One of my favorite places to visit in Des Moines!

I stopped by this wine shop to pick up a few bottles to take with me on a girls’ weekend retreat. I don’t consider myself to be super knowledgeable in wines, so I am always afraid of getting a wine shop with a snooty employee who feels they’re wasting their time with me, so I was a little nervous.
I had nothing to worry about at CorkyCellars however, as I had a very nice, comfortable experience here. Two people were tending the store (one man, one woman) and were very friendly. I told them how much I wanted to spend ($ 15 – 20 a bottle), what kind of wine I was looking for (reds, nothing too dry) and they helped select a few bottles. Lickety-​split, I was in and out of the store in no time flat, and ready to enjoy my weekend. Their choices in wines were awesome too — I now have some new wines to add to my favorites list.
They hold tastings regulary too, so perhaps I can educate myself by attending a few of these :)
So glad to have found an unpretentious wine shop close by — I’ll be back!

The place is soooo welcoming, the owners are extremely attentive and will happily suggest the perfect wine for you and your friends to enjoy. They have the CUTEST gift selections ranging from sassy aprons and gorgeous wine glasses to fun gadgets.
One more thing… they have a wine tasting on Saturdays! This place is such a nice addition to any town. I am sooo glad they are in mine =)
