Selection was very large. price was reasonable for a buffet. atmosphere was nice. it wasn’t very busy when I was there, as a result the food was mediocre at best. some dishes were barely warm. I will go back. next time I try the Mongolian grill section.

Edible. I have yet to find a Chinese Buffet in Iowa that I really enjoy. This one is probably my least favorite, if anything I would recommend the Hibachi Grill and Supreme Buffet, its not much better but it has a newer cleaner environment, more food options, and it tastes somewhat better.

I’m in agreement with others, this place is meh. It wasn’t horrible per say but was definitely so so in taste across the board. Also, most of the food was not hot just Luke warm. The sushi bar was pretty uneventful as well as well. I will say, their crab Rangoon was the worst we have ever had which is a hard dish to scre up but the taste was really off. The Mongolian grill choices were limited and you don’t pick the sauces. The guy cooking it was rude. When I thanked him he mumbled something in an angry tone. When I asked him what, he acted more irritated and mumbled something again and walked away, I was a little taken aback. The waitress was nice though. I would never visit here again and wouldn’t suggest it to anyone else.

Not the same as it use to be food isn’t fresh and as good as it use to be a lot of flys getting into it barely anyone comes here I wouldn’t say it is horrible and it’s expensive 11 $ per person I would say that other buffets are way! Better but if you are desperate and on this side of town I would still try and go else where

Good buffet! I’ve eaten here multiple times and this is one of my favorites and I believe one of the best in town. Their seating area is large so you are usually spread out from other patrons. They have a nice spread on the buffet line with a good variety. The quality of food is good, if you’ve had Chinese Buffett food then you know how it tastes. Food doesn’t stand out much from other places, it is good. Their parking lot is big and not shared, plenty of space. Staff is friendly and they have more people working than what appears to be necessary. I will definitely continue to eat here until something changes negatively.

This China One has been here for years, but has changed from being a pretty great buffet to not worth it. We visited last weekend on a Sunday and there were no Alaskan snow crab legs like they used to have. Most dishes were tasteless and the sushi was a joke. I would pay more to have higher quality dishes offered.

Lived here seven years and China One has always been reliably good. Fresh, includes Mongolian Grill if you want… Nothing extraordinary but reliably good.

Not a bad buffet but not a great buffet. Food is ok, staff is friendly but slow. The biggest downfall is the disrespectful customers and the staff allowing them to be that way. I saw kids grabbing food out of the warmers by hand and eating as they stood there. I watched the staff allow it without saying a word. I plan on not going back again. And no this was far from my first time at China One but most likely my last.

5 stars for service but I just couldn’t give them more than 2 because the food was just not great. Lots of variety but the hot food wasn’t hot — just luke warm. The best dish I had was the green beans. They looked good, tasted good and were crisp. The crab rangoon, pot sticker and chicken wing I had as appetizers were ok but not hot — like the steam table wasn’t working properly. I had a little beef with broccoli and a chicken with veggie dish for mains(along with the green beans) and some fried rice. All were okay but again, not hot. This was not my choice of restaurants, we were with a group of people that wanted to go here. It’s an okay place but next time I’ll try to persuade the group to try somewhere else.

When it comes to chinese food, its a hit or a miss. Food was quite bland an mushy. Service came only once to take our plates. Not bad, but not good either. Learned its just better to order good take-out, then chance another buffet.

China one is one of the best chinese buffets in des Moines. I am very picky when it comes to Chinese food a lot of Chinese buffets have dry chicken and beef not this buffet the chicken and beef were both very juicy all of the different varieties my favorite was the generals chicken my husband loved the beef and onion even my kids who are very picky eaters loved the buffet. All around very good buffet our waiter was on top of everything kept our drinks filled and plates cleaned up which is amazing cause have been to several where the wait staff doesn’t take care of u but it is very good here. If u love Chinese definitely have to try this place!
