Nice little Mom and Pop eating place. Very friendly staff. They also have a good selection of ice cream They were out of the Gluten free chowder by the time we got there. Being a small mom and pop eating place don’t expect the service to be like Wendy’s drive through. You will have to wait on your food. You can also get your food take out and walk right across the street and eat with great ocean view, but you can see the ocean from the Café. Depoe Bay is one great little waypoint to stop on any daytrip down the Oregon coast.

If you’re looking for Gluten-free served at a snails pace, this place is for you. If you’re looking for great tasting food and chowder made the good old fashion way with flavor served up without a significant wait, this is not your place. I give 2 stars because, if you’re looking for a good cup of coffee and some ice cream, then this place is good. But if you’re looking to enjoy some food, try the place 2 doors down.

Me and my girlfriend were searching all over the coast for gluten free clam chowder and fish and chips. After searching many many places without success, we came across this small café in depoe bay. We wouldn’t of found it however without the giant sign out front advertising gluten free clam chowder! The service was very friendly and helpful! I had previously had dinner at kyllos and mo’s and this place blew it out of the water! Clam chowder tasted very fresh and had the perfect amount of seasoning. The fish was also very fresh tasting and battered to perfection. Would highly recommend!

Be sure to call first. We decided to give them a try but they were closed on Tuesday at 2:30. Sign said open on Saturday & Sunday.

We are grateful for those that cater to the many that suffer from celiac diseases. So that being said we make it a point to stop and treat ourself to their gluten free clam chowder and always a kind word from the gentleman behind the counter. Se ya soon Mike and Marilyn.

I wish I could give many more stars to this establishment. Was passing through Depoe Bay after Christmas and wife spotted this place having GF options(Fish&Chips). Small place, not a very long line. Ordered our food at 230 pm as a to-go order as there wasn’t much place to sit. Was given a 25 minute wait time on food to be ready, so we decided to check out the town. Came back after 25 – 30 minutes to pick up food… wasn’t ready. Told to wait another 10 – 15. Came back 15 – 20 minutes later. Food still not ready. They looked to only have a staff of 2 with a relatively small number of customers. I don’t know what to say. Bummed because its not very often we find a gluten free fish & chips place. In the end we waited 1 hr+ with no food ready so they gave us a refund.

So, two years ago, apparently the owner of this establishment replied to my old review. Except she didn’t reply. Not really. She left a «tip» on her business’s own page rather than simply messaging me. Naturally, not being someone who obsesses over Unilocal pages after I’ve posted a review, I didn’t see it. For two years. When I finally did notice it, I messaged the owner and asked how she was going to make this right. She rudely replied with a phone number only. Nothing else. No, «I’m sorry we didn’t honor your gift certificate when we should have,» no nothing. I replied with my phone number and said that as a business owner, SHE needs to do the legwork if she really wants to make this right. That was a month ago. She still hasn’t called. My suspicions are confirmed. That«reply» from two years ago was for publicity, to make it appear to others that she wants to make this right. Well, turns out she doesn’t. So there goes your other star. And I will continue to tell people to avoid your establishment and frequent the numerous other, much friendlier businesses of Depoe Bay. If you ever actually want to make it right, you definitely have my number, as well as the ability to message me that you have always had. Thanks!

Love the clam chowder here!!! Excellent! The zucchini fries are also awesome. Every time we come down the 101, we stop. The staff is super friendly & service is great.

Bay Walk Café in Depoe Bay is THE place in the Pacific Northwest for gluten-free fish and chips, hot gluten-free clam chowder with lots of clams, and even gluten-free onion rings. They cheerfully give samples if you’re unsure about ordering. I love it all and don’t mind a wait to I can eat good food that won’t hurt anyone with celiac disease. The chowder is so wonderful that I like to buy some frozen to take home. Yes, it’s small and has a small staff of real human beings. What you see is what you get. If you’re looking for a sit-down restaurant atmosphere with wait staff at your beck and call, go somewhere else. If there’s a crowd there, pick up something quick to snack on and come back later for a meal — not hard to do in Depoe Bay.

Best GF fish n’ chips! Best GF clam chowder! They also serve gluten free chicken tenders and gluten free onion rings. I ordered the onion rings, but they ran out. Major bummer. Our waitress, Rita, was the BEST! She really took care of us. The owner wasn’t so professional, she could use an attitude adjustment. I would have given 5 stars if they were stocked with onion rings and if the owner wasn’t they way she chooses to be.

First thing to say, I would have given the place a four star rating based on the food alone(10 stars for the clam chowder though), but the service from the gentlemen working there was beyond stellar. I can’t remember the last time I was in a restaurant with such a casual ambiance and such exceptional service. The clam chowder was phenomenal… it was so good that they make Mo’s and Pier 101 bury their heads in shame. WOWWOWWOW!!! All of the other food was good as well. The potatoes were cut to make fries once we placed our order… very good and fresh fries. Everything else was just all around good. I won’t write a long drawn out review because WOW doesn’t take long to write. Try this place, you will love it.

Are you seeking clam chowder? How about gluten-free clam chowder? Bay Walk Café is where it’s at! Hands down the best clam chowder I’ve eaten since moving to the Pacific NW in 2008. Mo’s doesn’t even compare. Every morning half a dozen batches of this stuff is made. The owner offered us a sample & we were hooked. After our whale watching excursion, minus whale watching, we shivered ourselves back to Bay Walk & bought a bowl. We slurped up every drop. I didn’t care if I was slurping or had some of it on my face. The soup was just too good to care. BWC serves hotdogs, hamburgers, fries, nachos, chicken strips & ice-cream, too if that matters. There’s a leather couch & a couple tables /chairs inside otherwise not much room for a group to occupy. The owner is a super cool, hard working guy that knows how to cook. Stop by, say hello, eat chowder.

Quaint place with great food and home feel. You know how you go to Mo’s for a decent cup of chowder but it lacks something? Bay Walk Café has found it. Go straight there to get your chowder fix. Their pulled pork didn’t look like much, but was full of flavor. I picked up a mocha to hit the road and it was rich and creamy. No hershey’s here. Walking in off the street it looks like your standard café taking all the shortcuts to keep costs down, but these guys don’t!(and their prices are better than the restaurants nearby) If you’re in Depot Bay, you have to eat here!

Fish and chips were wonderful. Small little place, people were nice and prices were not that bad for the coast.

Small diner/ice cream shop off HWY101. When you walk in your overwhelmed with the smell of fried food. They definitely need a better ventilation system. I had the fried clams which were tremendous! The fresh cut fries lacked eye appeal, but once in the mouth, they were good. Nice«hole in the wall» place.

Had a convenient bathroom and some really tasty Tillamook Ice Cream. The Marionberry Pie flavor was awesome! Too bad our brother loaded up on everything EXCEPT that flavor. Makes us want it even more.
