What a sweet little shop! Great juices, all organic fruit and veg. Great sandwiches and the best ice cream creations ever! The old school video games set up to play are cool and the collection of old video games adorning the walls is really cool. A must for all!

I am typically not a big tempeh fan. But I have had the vegan Wafflich(The Yerfine) twice now and I love it! It has tempeh, mushrooms, onions, and avocado. The guy recommended the sun-dried tomato dipping sauce and he was right, it was perfect. This is not a sandwich you can easily eat on the go(trust me, I’ve tried). It can get pretty messy and it is a little bland without the dipping sauce. They also have one or two sweet(peanut butter based) vegan sandwiches that I have to try as soon as I quit craving The Yerfine. They also make amazing fresh juices. I had the green one and it was incredible. I swear I could feel the restorative nutrients flooding my body. I also love the friendly service, the décor, and the fact that everything/almost everything is locally sourced and a lot of it is organic. This is some of the healthiest vegan fast food that you can get in this town! The reggae music could be considered a little loud if that sort of thing bothers you. But I like it. I wish they had vegan Sweet Action ice-cream and non dairy milk for the coffee. But I really appreciate all the vegan love they are putting out there.

Unlike most people, it never occurred to me that this would be a waffle sandwich. It seemed to me like a waffle place that also serves sandwiches. I guess I was half right. The sandwiches are pressed in a waffle maker(similar to a panini in ways) where you could choose white, wheat, sourdough, or gluten free bread. I had the Martin, which has turkey, havarti and avocado. In fact, I never really did notice the avocado… it must have been minimal but the sandwich was clearly overwhelmed by the cheese, which was not a surprise. It was recommended that I had it sourdough but I don’t know if it would ultimately really matter much. I thought the sandwich was good but nothing exceptional. I also had ‘green’ juice. I forgot the name but it was basically all greens. I just finished working out so I figured it wouldn’t be a bad idea. Well, the small, 16oz, was almost $ 7. I went with it but I expressed to them that I felt it was way overpriced. The juice was good but not seven dollars’ good. I knocked off a star because I felt both the juice and the sandwich were both a bit overpriced. As much as I enjoyed my lunch and juice I’m not sure that I couldn’t find something equally as good elsewhere for a similar or lesser price. I guess it might just come down to how price sensitive you are.

Thanks to reviews I knew what I was in for which was helpful. I got the most popular(according to the girl working that day) Marvin with turkey, Havarti, avocado with a side of Cesar for dipping. My sandwich came out piping hot and was tasty. I didn’t get an avocado taste. I saw some specs of green, but couldn’t taste it. I thought this was an affordable lunch option at $ 6.

This place is just awesome! It sits right in Berkely across from the park on Tennyson. I love the area and location. The owner was there and was speaking with my husband, my kids and myself. He also helped us decide what we wanted to get since it was our first time there. Very friendly and hospitable. My husband ordered the Waffle Sunday and OMG it was amazing! I ordered a float with strawberry sorbet and lemon lime soda… AMAZING. I’m not sure how they came up with these combos, but WOW! One of the coolest things BYFAR is that there is a «Fountain of Youth» drinking fountain filled with FRUITPUNCH for kids to drink from right by the front door! Great place and we will definitely be making this place a part of our normal routine while in the area.

I, like most of the reviewers, thought this was going to be a sandwich that used waffles as bread but nope… honestly this place was just ok, nothing special. I ordered the Ruben style sandwich and the peanut butter and banana sandwich, along with two floats. The sandwiches were placed in the bag together and when I tried to figure out which was which, I couldn’t without opening them! That is a problem because it means that the Ruben had such a small amount of meat and sauerkraut on it that it wasn’t even hanging over or keeping the bread apart at all. The floats were ok but for $ 4.50 they were a bit lacking. Maybe a different flavor would have been better. Overall, it was a sandwich, nothing fancy and it was just decent. Sorry!

never had a Wafflich before. I tried the«Marvin» which is turkey, avocado, and havarti, with honey mustard dipping sauce. It was so good. I had it with white bread waffle and it was excellent. I also got a scoop of blueberry ice cream which was also very good, but i was hoping to get a waffle with the ice cream but that was not the case. The shop is pretty small and cozy, probably seats 15 people at best. Only one worker which made service a bit slow, but he was definitely trying his hardest to keep everyone happy and it was not an issue for me. I love the small, simple menu. I like the honey mustard sauce, very tangy. Wafflich was good, maybe a tad on the smaller side for $ 6. Will definitely be back for an ice cream float.

First things first, this isn’t a waffle sandwich, it’s a hot sandwich made using a waffle iron. And that’s cool by me because you can choose your type of bread for the sandwich, even going with gluten-free if need be. They have a fairly small menu of pre-designed sandwiches, but with enough variety that most people should be able to find something to please their palate. And they also serve breakfast sandwiches now, which is what I ordered. In addition to the sandwiches they actually have a pretty good selection of juices(actually juiced on site), which is important to note since the juice craze is taking the nation by storm apparently. I ordered one whose primary ingredient was beets, and it was pink and delicious. They actually have a combo for a sandwich and one of their juices that’s a pretty great deal. The space is small, but friendly and they have free wi-fi and don’t mind you using it for work or whatever. It’s not fancy, but it is good and I’d definitely go back again whether it be for a sandwich, a juice, or a combo.

Wafflich is that staple that somehow defines not just a neighborhood, but a city as well. Not to say Denver is Wafflich, and Wafflich is Denver. But it does seem to be a popular place amongst the locals that is always in the top 10 of recommendations for visitors. I can understand this — it’s an adorable shop on the adorable Tennyson street that gives off vibes of a good ol’ fashioned time but in a new age way. And hey, who doesn’t enjoy their meats and cheeses to be sandwiched by waffle shaped bread?! I devouredThe village sandwich for only $ 5.95 with scrambled eggs, sausauge, and cheddar. My favorite part has to be the ordering system. For every element of the typical sandwich making you have a copious amount of choices: rye, sour dough, wheat, white, gluten-free bread. Swiss, Provolone, Cheddar, American, and so on. And don’t even get me started with the other toppings and meats. All in all, everything about this place is happy… from the soda water fountain to the deliciously innovative juices. I believe the one I enjoyed was a fusion of grapefruit, apple, and maybe cranberry. Let’s just say it quenched my thirst.

What could be more awesome than waffle sandwiches, ice cream floats, and Atari all in one place? If that’s your think then Wafflich is your place. Typical sandwich ingredients are turned into«waffle sandwiches» with the help of a waffle iron/press(at least I think that’s how they do it) and served up cafeteria style(as in you get a tray with little slots for food, like in the 2nd grade). The ice cream floats are made even more spectacular with the help of Sweet Action ice cream. And then there’s the Atari theme. I almost forgot this existed(Atari, that is). Brought back found childhood memories. Also, it’s fast and you can play games while you wait.

WAFFLICH. I enjoyed my time there. I had a delicious waffled sandwich and a float made with coffee and hazlenut ice cream. It’s a fun idea and a good vibe. I will go there again someday. (fountain of youth is gross)

I admit, the concept confuses me. Waffle sandwiches, made on a waffle iron, out of bread. Why not use waffles? Who wouldn’t want a waffle as bread? That said, the one we got, was quite tasty. It was cold and it was first friday, so we popped in, ate a wafflich and continued on. the shakes really caught my attention. I’ll be back when it’s warm to enjoy one or more of those :)

Look there! Up on my plate! It’s a waffle! It’s a sandwich! No, wait. It’s a Wafflich! This cute little sandwich place in Berkeley has my vote! From the fruit punch and lemonade flavored water fountain, to the video game mural on the walls. It’s inviting and open and the staff was super friendly. The concept here is that they basically make paninis, but instead of a panini press, they use a waffle iron. This creates little pockets of gooey cheese and meat and it’s oh so good. For those of you with a sweet tooth, they also make floats using Sweet Action ice cream! I know what I’m getting next time I go there(and there will definitely be a next time)!

Great new addition to the Berkley neighborhood. Variety of selection with well thought out combination of ingredients. I had the tuna sandwich and the pairing of the caesar dipping sauce was excellent. The sandwiches are great and the floats are simply out of this world. Thus far I’ve been to Wafflich 5 times, twice for the sandwiches and three times for the floats. Wafflich uses Rocky Mountain Soda Co products for the floats and pairs them with Sweet Action ice cream. Thus far my favorite float is the Breckenridge: Blackberry soda with raspberry chocolate chip ice cream. Needless to say I’m hooked.

I, like many other reviewers, have been waiting anxiously for Wafflich to open, fully expecting it to serve sandwiches on waffles. When I found out that this is not the case, I was a little disappointed. However, I went in with an open(and slightly skeptical) mind and was pleasantly surprised by everything I tasted here! Tennyson Street is quickly diversifying, but it’s lacking in the quick, portable food category. Also, incidentally, in the artisan ice cream float category. I ordered the Marvin Wafflich, a turkey, havarti, and avocado sandwich on sourdough bread, pressed in a waffle iron producing a concoction akin to a panini. Surprisingly, the waffle press actually made the sandwich a cohesive unit, ideally suited for a stroll down Tennyson. I don’t think a panini press would have done this as well. The bread was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, as it should be. My fiancé ordered the Colorado float, made with Sweet Action’s Peanut Butter Crunch ice cream and Rocky Mountain Soda Co.‘s(a fledgling local natural soda producer) Cola. I can’t even begin to describe how delicious this was. It was SO good that after I finished my wafflich, we walked back to the restaurant so I could get the Golden float, made with Chocolate Hazelnut ice cream and Ginger Beer. Holy cow, I was stuffed after consuming all of this, but happily so! Maybe people are thrown off by the simplicity of this place, but I kind of see it as a brick and mortar food cart type of eatery. Like I said, this type of thing is the perfect addition to Tennyson St. The owner is also very friendly and I’m pretty sure everything from this shop is locally sourced

I’m very glad I gave this place a second chance. There are several things that were different about this time, and all of them were positive. 1) I got a float. Hot diggity dog the floats are fantastic. I got the Colorado, which was Cola and peanut butter crunch ice cream. The ice cream is from sweet action, I believe, and the sodas are from a small just starting up Colorado based all natural soda company( look em up. Fricking yummy and made with ingredients that don’t make you feel bad for drinking soda). I was prepared to write an update to my first reviewing saying that even if the sandwiches aren’t great, the floats alone are worth the trip. They’re definitely 5 star floats. However, I’m not writing that review update, because… 2) The wafflich I sampled was head, shoulders, knees and toes above the pitiful burnt flavorless one I got on my first visit. It wouldn’t be hard to be better than my first, but this one was way better. It was very very good if not great. I wonder if I just happened to get the wrong item the first time around. Or maybe I just got the right thing this time? In any case, if you’re going to just try one, try the Marvin. 3) The wafflich this time was not burnt. I think I underestimated the impact that the burnt-ness of my first wafflich had on my eating experience. And since it was my first time, I didn’t know that it could be different. This one was warm and slightly toasted, with a consistency that actually reminded me of real waffles. Where the last one was entirely unappetizing, this one was a joy to eat. And now I know better. If I get another burnt wafflich in the future, I’ll know I can simply return it and ask for one that is properly cooked. 4) The owner is friendly as friendly can be. I typically try to focus on quality of food, but I can’t help but appreciate some one who is throwing all of their energy into their small business idea and manages to be friendly, helpful, and courteous all of the time. 5) This place fills a need for quick, cheap, and easy food on Tennyson. This isn’t really different from the last time I visited, but the food I got this time makes it a viable option to fill that niche. And as a postscript, I also appreciate how environmentally conscious this business is. Compostable cups, all paper packing products, no plastic or styrofoam to be found. Not super out of the ordinary for Colorado, but a nice touch for a low cost meal. Oh, and I love small Colorado businesses that support other small Colorado businesses. So bonus points for that too. An one last sprinkling of kudos for having a paper bag of crisp waffle(bread?) piecies on the counter as dog treats. After my first experience, I gave this place a slightly generous 3 stars. Now I’m giving it a fairly stingy 4 stars. I’m holding out for consistency. If I continue to have experiences like today, I will bump it on up to the full five.

The sandwiches aren’t made from waffles; they’re made from Rudi’s bread(white, wheat, rye, or gluten free). That made me a little sad because I was hoping for a sandwich made out of a waffle, specifically, a chicken and waffle sandwich with maple syrup. I guess that’s what I get for thinking that I knew what a wafflich was. They have eleven different sandwiches, none with the sweet and salty combination though. I got the yella, which is all cheese(swiss, havarti, and cheddar) and comes with ranch sauce. It was a-ok and only $ 5. I passed on the ranch sauce. They will substitute sauces for you; I’d asked for tomato, but didn’t check to see that they’d remembered. Maybe the sandwich would’ve been better with the tomato sauce, but I doubt that the sauce would make that big of a difference unless the sauce is amazing. They have eight flavors of Sweet Action ice cream, which is very exciting because Sweet Action ice cream is so delicious. I’m not sure whether the ice cream flavors will rotate because the float menu seems to be set. The floats sound good, especially the denver, coffee and salted butterscotch ice cream. They also have Rocky Mountain Soda, and I tried the lemon-limeade which was good. I might try one more sandwich and will definitely try a float some time soon.

Short version: This place sucks. Long version: My wife and I dropped by here during First Friday. It sounded like a great concept and looked like a cool place with their DJ, rollerskaters, balloon shaper, and funky outfits. Don’t be fooled! As others have mentioned, you automatically think of a waffle sandwich… but alas, no waffles to be found, just bread. They just stick the sandwich in a waffle maker. We tried two different waffliches(the buddy and the sal) and neither was very good. Both tasted like they had been overcooked, almost to the point of being burned. There were also few ingredients inside the wafflich, which was disappointing, but probably helps them they reach the $ 5 price point. Also, I don’t think the waffle maker allows room for too many ingredients. So, what you have is a sandwich made of bread and very few ingredients that gets overcooked on a hot waffle maker leading to a very crunchy and dry«wafflich» that cuts up your mouth. In the end, I think it’s a flawed concept that needs better execution.

The place is called Wafflich — but the shit is bread? WTF? How was someone not MAJORLY dissapointed. I came in here to get a Waffle Sandwich — no, it’s on bread. Well how about a waffle with ice cream on it? Oh what’s that you don’t have waffles? Well what the fuck?! They need to call this place Ironwich, because it aint Waffles. I wont be back.

I wasn’t sure what to expect so there were not preconceived expectations. The concept is really great — like a panino but instead of a panini press they use a Belgian waffle iron. My Marvin sandwich, turkey with havarti and avocado on swiss was really, really good. I especially like the $ 5 price point and a sandwich that is filling but so big that you can’t finish it all. Can’t wait to try one of their floats on my next visit. Great addition to Berkeley.
