Very unimpressed with this place. The service was good, and the food wasn’t terrible… but, it wasn’t very good either. Pretty mediocre.

We went on a Sunday for breakfast. Great service, wait wasn’t too long, and the food was really good. We tried a special waffle of the day-lemon curd and raspberry and the Mangia. Both were really delicious but I would definitely get the Mangia again. I always eye the other plates going by and they all looked pretty enticing. We’ll be going back!

One of my all time favorites. I live in the neighborhood so this is a go to spot on the daily and especially on the weekend with friends! Great people that work here, shout out to Ashley as my favorite waitress. The chefs here really put together some great plates! If you haven’t already, stop in and try the Rocket or the Goodnight! Keep up the good work guys!

The one thing I have struggled to find in Denver has been a go-to spot for my favorite meal, breakfast. There have been a few I thought might do it but each one comes up short in some way. Sunny’s has been on my list for several months and I finally had a chance to check out after New Years. This place immediately had striking similarities to my favorite spot in Long Beach, CA from the location, the neighborhood, the interior, the surrounding businesses, etc. It was sort of eery but almost meant to be. Ok, enough of that! LOL. In all seriousness, it was very similar to the place I used to love out west but the only question remained after I scoped it out is how would the food compare. As we sat there waiting for our food, we watched people get served all around us and every dish looked amazing. I felt that I probably could have ordered half the menu(at least!). Finally, our dishes came out and both lived up to the expectations. I went with the Pigs in the Blanket(still confused on the name). It was definitely a take on the Vietnamese vermicelli dishes you’d find at a Phở place. This was unconventional but I just had to… and it was great. My girlfriend went with Mangia, which was equally delicious but in a completely different way. I definitely want to come back to try some of the other interesting dishes on the menu while hoping that the quality meets our already high expectations again. I dig the vibe and ambiance of this place as it’s that perfect hidden gem of a neighborhood restaurant that most people don’t know about. What a great find to kick off 2016!

I didn’t realize before going(but should have, based in the name) that sunny-side up eggs are their specialty. Sunny’s is a local breakfast joint in an up and coming neighborhood. I really enjoyed the atmosphere; friendly staff, quick service, creative vibe. We got a table for 2 immediately, even on a Saturday morning at 9 am. If you know me at all, you know that I am always on the lookout for the best eggs Benedict and I love it when places put their own twist to it. So I was overjoyed to see the first section of their menu– 6 different Benedicts each made with their trademark sunny-side up eggs! I tried the Rhody– johnnycake(think corn bread pancake) with pork belly, spiced apples, and hollandaise. Very fall-esque. The reason for the 4 star review is that the dish didn’t quite live up to my hopes. The pork belly overpowered everything else… If it was sliced a little thinner and was less salty, it would have made a huge difference. The potatoes on the side were perfect– well seasoned and plentiful. My husband truly loved his corned beef hash– they do make the corned beef right there. We will definitely be back– and I’ll have to try a different Benedict. Maybe one of those will make my Unilocal list of best Benedicts.

Food was ok, I don’t eat pork and all the meat options are pork unless you opt for the corn beef hash, which is probably the worst I ever had. There were 8 of us and everyone else seemed satisfied. The tastiest item that came to our table was the rocket sandwich which is basically a BLT with a thick slice of pork belly. The rocket caused our table to order sides of pork bellies alone. Very small place so we waited 20 – 30 min for a seat which wasn’t bad considering our size, if you don’t eat pork don’t go here unless you want a meatless breakfast. Pancakes are huge! Mocha was good as well.

This is your typical neighborhood breakfast diner. The staff is very friendly and regulars frequent this place and the servers know them by name. Since there was limited seating, there was a bit of a wait to get a table but it was your typical 10 – 15 minute wait so it wasn’t bad at all. I ordered the pancakes(in a double because I didn’t know the pancakes were so big should have just gotten one) in chocolate chip and blueberry. It took a little longer than usual for the food to arrive. I didn’t particularly like my pancakes because they could have been a lot fluffier. The flavor was fine, however just the texture needed improvement. The service was good as they came back often to refill our water and check up on us.

I eat at Sunny’s so frequently that half the front of housers know me by name. They are warm, friendly people, who seem to have a good time working there. I really love this place, so I’m writing a detailed review. I’m no culinary expert; just what people mean when they use the word«foodie.» Without question Sunny’s is my go-to neighborhood bruncherie. I first tried it on a whim, and I’ve enjoyed every meal I’ve eaten there(probably 30-ish times by now). My favorite regular menu items are the Mangia, the Bomber, and the Encore. But, I almost always order one of the daily special scrambles. The chef/owner’s creative whims haven’t disappointed me yet. He pairs breakfast staples(scrambled eggs, house-recipe seasoned potatoes, and toast) with whichever vegetables, cheese, sauce, or herbs strike his fancy on a given weekend. Usually they feature both a vegetarian and an omnivore’s scramble, or occasionally waffle specials that are the devil. They house make both strawberry jam and orange marmalade(this is my favorite thing on the menu), as well as cheeses, sauces, and sausage. The place is tiny(seats 40 max inside, I’d guess), cutely minimalist but cozy, with dog-friendly sidewalk seating in nice weather, and my idea of a good-find hole-in-the-wall eatery. The food is fresh, tasty, and priced comparably with the chain breakfast places around(e.g. Village Inn, so Sunny’s is a much better meal at the same price). It’s in a good location in the middle of Sunnyside, and the food comes out fairly quickly, presented as it well it tastes. It’s true what other reviewers have said; Sunny’s is getting pretty popular and doesn’t take reservations, so if you go during prime brunching hours on weekends you’ll wait a while before being seated.(Not the hour-upon-hour wait for weekend brunch at Snooze, for example, but definitely up to an hour.) There is only street parking(unmetered), but I’ve never had to park more than a block away even when they were at their busiest. Even when they’re packed I’ve never waited more than ten-ish minutes from ordering until my meal was served because they don’t seat a new party until a few minutes before the kitchen is ready to start cooking for them.

We made our first trip to Sunny’s today and we’ll definitely be back. I’m a little surprised to see the variability in the reviews because our experience was uniformly positive. We came at 8:00 am on a Friday and they were not busy — sounds like they’re very busy on weekends, so that might account for some of the variance. Sunny’s is a breakfast/brunch/lunch spot and has a street café/bistro feel that is comfortable and pleasant. Our service was excellent — very pleasant and I never saw the bottom of my coffee mug, which is always important and especially so when the coffee is Dazbog and delicious. The menu is unique and our food was excellent. The breakfast/brunch menu is anchored around a variety of benedicts with sunny side up eggs rather than poached. We tried two of these — the Rhody(johnny cakes, pork belly, spiced apples, hollandaise, smoked salt) and the Aji(Peruvian potato cake, homemade chorizo, green chiles, salsa, hollandaise) — both are definite keepers. We also had the 2 Two 2(2 pancakes, 2 eggs, choice of meat) — their sausages are homemade and both the country sausage and the chorizo are terrific. For a couple of bucks more you can add healthy to your pancakes(blueberries, granola, etc), or you can add yum! to your cakes(peanut butter cups or cookie dough) — c’mon, let your inner child out and go for the yum! If you’re really afraid of your inner child, you can go for the Granola Parfait or the Acai Bowl, but before you do, try loosening that knot in your knickers a little bit. Some interesting waffles on the menu(Jaswells — spiced apples, salted caramel, bacon streusel, fresh whipped cream), specialties —(Pork Belly Po’boy — pork belly, eggs, pickles, lettuce, tomato, Aleppo pepper mayo, grilled bread), and if my mother insists that I eat my oatmeal, I’ll probably try the PB&J(with strawberry jam, peanut butter and berries). For the food quality and uniqueness of the menu, I would expect prices in the low teens, but almost everything comes in a little under $ 10. Yep, Sunny’s is a keeper.

Not wheel chair accessible… At that point doesn’t matter how good the service or food is… If I can’t have the basic human dignity of being able to get to and use your restroom without interrupting everyone’s meal then you’re already not worth going to. No one deserves to feel like a 2nd class citizen. They did resolve the issue quickly and to be fair the service is great. Coffee is about a 6 or 7 in a 10 scale. And I like supporting local businesses. So as long as they keep hallway to bathroom clear AND maybe space out chairs a bit so I’m not bumping everyone just to get to my table then they would get a better review.

Service was on point, and kept our coffee refilled, but the kitchen was extremely slow. A faster kitchen might take away from the waitresses shopping at the boutiques that flank Sunny’s. That said, it was worth the wait. We ordered all over the menu, and it was delicious. The«Mangia» was amazing, and packed with veggies. The«Roasted Veggie Latkes» were amazing, crispy on the outside and creamy in the middle, like a Latke should be. The«Jaswells» waffle was piled high with al dente spiced apples and salted caramel. This is a great spot for brunch. If the weather is nice, be sure to grab a seat outside.

You will have to wait a bit here, but its worth it. God almighty… is it worth it. We had the Rhody and the Aji. The Rhody is the most delicious eggs bennie I have had in my LIFE. The Aji is a delicious soithwestern bennie that was also super amazing. One thing, for your guests sitting outside, ice water instead of room temp, but the food is so good I could care less. Seriously, I can’t wait to it the leftovers!

Very impressed with this little café! It’s super cute and I love that they have seating right out front. It’s real casual and has a homey feel to it. We were greeted right away with a friendly smile. The only complaint that I have is it was pretty hot inside the café, I actually think it was cooler outside. The food definitely deserves five stars though. Most things they use are organic and locally grown! Huge plus in my book. Our waitress was very friendly but it did seem like they were short staffed. She was the only one taking orders and bringing food out– every table was filled so she was obviously very busy! She did a good job though.

I like this place, I want to love this place and its close to enticing those kind of emotions from me but right now its stuck in the friend zone. Its cute hipsterish place and serves some good food. I wasn’t overly please with my Juevos Rancheros as the execution of the dish wasn’t to my liking but then again I do think the best Juevos Rancheros are from greasy spoons! They do have many waffle creations that I would like to try and more then likely will be back to explore though. Big ups to being able to add real Maple Syrup to your order!

Cute café with great, local, freshly-made food. Nice portions and reasonable prices. I was impressed by the variety on the menu — lots of unique options including veggies and meats, egg dishes, interesting waffles, and cool toppings(including homemade granola) for oatmeal or cottage cheese. If I lived in the area, this would be a go-to brunch spot!

I really do love Sunny’s and I really do love having a good breakfast place within walking distance of my house but sometimes the experience leaves a little to be desired. When it’s a little busier on the weekends I fee like the service and food suffers just the slightest bit. The servers are just a little less attentive and the food is just a little less seasoned. Did I use the word«little» enough in that review to get the point across that these are just small issues that don’t take away from the overall greatness of Sunny’s?

This is a nice casual spot to grab breakfast if you’re in the area. We’ve come here a couple times and have enjoyed it. We usually like to come here after a hard workout since it’s more of a casual joint. We also enjoy sitting on the patio and taking our dog, if he’s being well behaved! The service is always friendly. The food is good, but nothing too out of the ordinary or special. Some items we’ve gotten and enjoyed were the: Huevos Rancheros, Mangia, the Mexican breakfast(this was on a daily special board) and pancakes with banana and walnuts. They can put just about anything in your pancakes, even cookie dough!

Sunny’s is a super cute breakfast place in Sunnyside that’s def catering to the up-and-coming gentrified area(sorry, had to say it). The food is great and there are plenty of veggie options. My partner and I went one morning when it was one of the only places open when we were up bright and early and it was a god choice. We had The Hipster and The Delish Sunnys and they were okay. I was a touch confused because my eggs were nearly cold but we were the first folks in, but the taste was on point so we went with it. I will say that it’s not a five-star review because the restaurant itself is really large and open, which makes for a really cold space both literally and figuratively. It was a cold morning when we went and it didn’t feel like there was any heat. Since the kitchen is wide open, I assume it heats up pretty quickly but it didn’t for an early morning there. Between that and the cold eggs, I wasn’t enchanted. But! If we’re ever around the Sunnyside area, we’ll stop in. It’s cute and okay-priced.

Sunny’s known for their classic benedicts with sunny-side up eggs instead of poached eggs. So, my boyfriend and I decided to order two different types of benedicts:(1) Rhody(2) Delish. Rhody comes with delicate white corn Johnny cakes, pork belly, spiced apples, smoked salt, sunny side-up, and creamy hollandaise. I wasn’t a fan of the Johnny cakes and would prefer the benedict on an English muffin but overall, everything together seemed quite tasty. There was nothing too extraordinary but it was pretty good. On the other hand, Delish is very well known and our waitress recommended it to us; however, it was very typical. Besides the fact that it is unique to use a pancake instead of an English muffin for a benedict, it was typical in the sense that everything together tasted like a typical breakfast. From pancakes to American cheese to Sausage to sunny-side up eggs, every components of the benedicts seemed very typical but just placed on top of each other with a hollandaise on the top to call it a benedict.(Tip: the maple syrup drizzled on the benedict made the dish too sweet, so I would recommend asking for the syrup on the side) In addition, both benedicts are served with potatoes, which were really good. My boyfriend is not a lover of potatoes but even he admitted that it was good. TIPS: I heard the Grilled Cheese and«Good Night» is amazing!(but I haven’t tried it so I can’t say that in fact is true) Overall, Sunny’s was good but I’ve had better brunch. If I lived close to this location, I might come often for a quick breakfast if I am too lazy to cook; however, for a 35 minute drive from my house, personally, it is not worth the drive and time to go to this restaurant and eat brunch when I have a favorite spot 15 minutes away. I don’t think I would ever go back unless I happen to be in the neighborhood.

New favorite brunch spot that’s for sure. My cousin and I were browsing Unilocal and came across Sunny’s. We wanted to try a different brunch spot than our usual places. I looked at the menu and it had me sold. We walked in and it’s pretty small. So I bet it gets really busy on the weekends. We were seated. I started off with the soy chai and my friend had the berries and cherries smoothie. OMG! Talk about amazing. Her smoothie was nice and thick and delicious. I got the Sunny’s version of the eggs benedict with grilled cheese with sunny side up eggs and my friend had the Good Night which had chorizo, avocado, eggs sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwich. Both of them were amazing. The potatoes were seasoned to perfection. And seriously I love grilled cheese sandwiches and I would never have thought to put a sunny side egg on top. Seriously, AMAZING! I will be back. It’s too good not to return. Give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed.
