I have to downgrade, bummer. I will definitely be back over and over for the drinks and service. This place rocks for that! But why in the heck would you change your name after you’ve worked so hard to establish yourself? «The Coop» is their new kitchen serving, you guessed it, chicken. Unfortunately the chicken is awful. We ordered three items off their menu and each one was a big disappointment.

I really want to give this place 5 stars, but there’s something undisclosed nagging at me to keep that last star. Maybe it’s the weird lay-out(I love the actual décor, itself); maybe it’s that the pizza wasn’t as good as I had been told. Not sure what it is, but this place is probably a 4.5. Knowing that it’s owned by the same people as Jonesy’s, I know there’s more on the menu I must try. I was here on a slower time(I’m assuming) when it was just the bartender, cook, and a handful of regulars. That’s exactly the way I like it. Before I left, a couple of old regulars from my Goosetown Tavern days walked in. Awesome!

I’ve been here a few times and so far so good. I’m really pretty impressed with the bartender Stephanie. I remember her name because she makes it a point to remember her patrons names and what they are drinking. Sounds like a small thing but it is makes me like this place more because the service is better than what you typically find and really friendly. The menu has changed since I’ve been there last and I do miss some of the things that used to be offered, and I wish they would bring some of them back. I like the music and the atmosphere here and seems to be a pretty solid place to meet up with some friends. I would give this place 5 stars if the menu had stayed the same, but still a place I like to go and hang out.

I frequent this bar with my lady friend because we also like their sister bar, The Horseshoe. This bar has a great HH on the Tuesdays that we visit. And there is trivia too. The pizza here is BAM!!! so good. Crispy crust, tasty sauce. I need to try the green chili tots, as I am a big fan of tots. The bacon/cheese tots are ok. Of course, I love me some bacon and there could always be more bacon. And more cheese. But they are good anyway. The bartenders are always nice and attentive. The décor is cool, like you are in someone’s house. And while it isn’t as close to my house as the Shoe, I will of course go back.

I left this place thinking, «Maybe it’ll grow on me.» I think all the ingredients are here to make this place super fun, but it’s not quite there yet. Yes, it’s a low key bar in an up and coming neighborhood, so it really has that going for it. But there’s something missing. It has all of the props to make this a cool retro lounge bar akin to the other successful bars from the same owner(Bar Car, Jonesy’s and Horseshoe), but it lacks the grime and the history. I’m not saying this place has to have the same mottled past as the Bar Car, but it feels like this place has no history, just the right fonts and posters to make it «look» historical. It’s way to clean and fresh to match with the retro logo and neon signs. Like I said, it may find its place and when it does, I have no doubt, it will be great, because the service here was wonderful. I mean what lady doesn’t enjoy a funny and courteous server that’s covered head to toe in tattoos? OK, maybe not you, but I certainly enjoyed the view. My group came for trivia, so we didn’t have food, just a couple beers, but I think their selection was pretty good and there were a few things on the menu that I’m excited to try next time I go back(we won a gift certificate there, so, naturally, we’ll be back). Just so’s you know, I’m rooting for ya, Stingray!

I finally tasted the pizza… Oh hot damn! This is my jam! I ate some for breakfast… mmmmm. and trivia on Tuesdays… I don’t mind coming in last place when the beers are $ 3 and the pizza is this f’ing good. I only wish it were about 2 miles closer to my house. note: the crowd was a bit boring, but I will assume it was because it was Tuesday(I hope). GREATSERVICE — all the bartenders are rockstars in my book! This is all.

This place is a perfect example of a «not quite there» business. I like it well enough but just don’t feel it is exceptional in anyway and therefore have no reason to really want to come here. The food, for example, is just not quite there. It’s very similar to the stuff you can get at its sister bars(Horseshoe Lounge, Bar Car), but just not as good. The tater tots were soggy with chunks of congealed cheese. The corn dogs we’re okay. But the garlic bread was awful: A few slices of a barely toasted baguette coated in nearly raw garlic and sprinkled with cheap, powdered parmesan. All this served with sour, greasy marinara. One of the worst garlic bread appetizers I’ve ever had. The layout is also strange. It seems cool at first glance but just doesn’t quite get there. The room is divided into a lounge area and a long bar area with booths. The booths are all just slightly too small to comfortably hold four men(We need our man space or something!). So we went to the loungish area and had the opposite problem. We were on each on a couch that made the sides of a square and were all a bit too far apart to be able to hear each other well. And when the food came we all had to sort of lean over to eat properly. I do like the funky sort of 70s aquarium vibe, but the layout just didn’t quite gel with me. The saving grace is the service. Our waitress was fantastic, always making sure we were taken care of and apologizing for the slowness of the kitchen(they appeared to only have one cook). An extra star for her exceptional service for sure.

This is an excellent place to come have a beer, they have a great selection and have an awesome vibe you just can’t beat. Great Happy Hour deals and in general good value place. I was a bit disappointed with the tots, it could be that I just like the sister bars fries too much though, but they offering unique pairings but eat them while hot or they get soggy, and be prepared to wait as these are baked not fried

I think my hopes were too high for this place. I love the other bar/restaurant offerings around town from the owner(Horseshoe, Jonesy’s, and Bar Car) but there was something less cozy and cold about this place. Literally, cold. Granted, we were sitting under the air vent, but it was freezing. This isn’t Phoenix where one needs to plan around two outfits — a sundress for the 100+ degree heat outside and a sweater for the refrigerated 50 – 60 degrees inside. Too much shock for the body, to be sure, and not expected in Denver. It’s why I stay out of fast food places. Brrrrr… Alright, onto the actual place. Very similar menu to Horsehoe and Bar Car as well as a few thoughtful beers on tap(and Lonestar in bottles… always Lonestar in bottles). I had been anticipating the pizza for quite sometime, and when we finally got ours, I wondered if all of those«food critics» who have been touting this as «Denver’s Best Pizza» have really had pizza anywhere else. It was fine. But using«best ever» as a measuring stick, then no, it’s not. Of the thinner crust variety that quickly gets soggy(reminiscent of the Broadway Walnut Room). Great sauce though. The cheese got firm pretty fast… probably because there was cold air blowing on it. Our bartender was very friendly and the prices were not too bad. I’ll take the Horseshoe though. Same food, much more cozy, and less high expectations for pizza(I’m sure the pizza is the same, but doesn’t win«best ever» accolades). And it’s not so freaking cold!

I came here on Sunday evening, because lets face it, the only thing you wanna do in 40 degree rain is drink away the sorrows. I am now positive that I could never live in Seattle. I would end up jumping off a bridge to escape the dreariness. We were immediately greeted when we walked in and grabbed a table near the bar. Our waitress went over the happy hour: $ 3 Beam, Svedka and CO drafts. Not bad at all! The waitress was super friendly and helpful but she stopped waiting on us after our 2nd beer. After that we were on our own to get beers at the bar. Not a huge deal, but kinda confusing. I did like this place, but the vibe was just a little off. Maybe I was just craving a cozier place that day, but I will be back to try some food and the nice looking patio.

I have been here twice now and all I can say is Meh. It’s ok but not really anything special. They brag about the«baked tater tots» and the fact they take an extra long time to cook because of the baked thing. But they are just alright and I was hungry 20minutes ago. This last time we had the house salad which contained the driest lettuce on earth. The pepperoni, black olives and ranch were the highlights due to the fact they contained moisture. For entrées we both got sandwiches which were HUGE but pretty tasty. I guess my biggest complaint comes from one of the servers. She has helped us the last two times and always seems nice enough but generally confused by our orders and questions… and she is super slow. I love the décor and the location but I am just not sold on the food and service. Prices are about average and the beer selection is excellent serving Wynkoop Beers and other local favorites. Try them you might like it more then me…

Another great addition to this already awesome hood! Although… I hope Stingray can stay afloat in this location. I’ve only lived in the Highlands for a few months but already this is the 3rd business in this location. Not to mention all the other businesses that have opened and closed in this strip mall alone. Food here is ok… not great, not bad, and I’m not surprised because I feel the same way about Horseshoe food. They don’t offer a ton of choices, but the different tots are pretty good. Some other people ordered pizza that looked delicious also. Although, besides that this is a cool place to grab a drink. HH is from 4 – 7 each day so… awesome. I absolutely LOVE the retro décor they got going on. They’ve got a decent patio too, looking forward to those long summer nights when I can people watch down 38th. Welcome to the hood Stingray, hope you stay awhile!

All right, Stingray Lounge gets five fabulous stars from me. Why? 1) If I could marry the jukebox, I would. I challenge you to *not* find something you like here(unless you’re under 21, in which case you shouldn’t be in a bar anyway.) 2) Pizza, pizza. Large, crunchy, tasty, made in-house. 3) Tots. Eat them while they are hot, though. 4) Great HH deals. Consult the menu when you arrive, but rest assured they are stellar. 5) Although I anticipated hanging out in the lounge area of Stingray(right by the front door — complete with mod couches, lamps and a seriously vintage TV) I found myself at the bar and by the pool table all night. I also love that the booths are open on both sides, so you don’t have to feel claustrophobic. Rick G and I decided they could benefit from some oversized paintings on the wall by the pool table — we thought some Andy Warhols(overdone, I know) but I think go the local route and get some Lisa Kowalski’s. That is all!

Came here for happy hour the other night and when I looked at the menu, I saw buffalo tots and immediately knew that the people who own Horseshoe also own this place. The prices during happy hour were absolutely amazing and the staff was friendly. I wish I lived in Highlands because I would love to make this my new local hang out but my friend Tamara lives there so I suppose I can make this her new local hang out. I’m sad they didn’t have a wall with glitter paint but maybe that will be a special thing between me and The Horseshoe. And beware of the motion sensor behind the giant mirror in the bathroom. The lights may go out on you in mid pee and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Any place that has mini corn dogs and serves tater tots four ways is fine by me. Not to mention if said place has couches that I can«lounge» on whilst eating tater tots. The spot is very open with a large bar in the middle of the room. On one side you have an area that’s filled by couches of various colors and sizes. On the other side you have a few booths that surround a pool table. Near the back, by the restrooms they have a pretty decent jukebox with quite the mix of old and new and out front a pretty large patio. The Décor is kind of retro sheik and a mix of things from the 50’s to the 70’s. I really dig the open relaxed atmosphere. The menu isn’t very large, but more than adequate for some quick snacks. Like I mentioned above, they have tater tots, mini corn dogs, but they also have sandwiches, pizzas, and a couple salad options. The kitchen even serves late night. From what I hear the menu is going to be expanding and I’m really looking forward to that. The bartenders were extremely nice and took very good care of our group, even buying a round for everyone. They were very happy to have us there and you wouldn’t catch me complaining about that. Stingray Lounge is the new kid on the block and I’m hoping they’ll stick around; maybe the third time is the charm in this particular location, there have been previous businesses fail here. With the Stingray being in my neighborhood it’s going to make this a nice go to spot for a drink or two during happy hour, and they’re open till 2AM seven days a week.

Stingray lounge is a very hard place to leave! They have a friendly vibe, a great selection of beers on tap & in the cooler, and they have tater tots. Why not stop in and have a cold one after work? It’s right off Federal so you can avoid the drudgery of the freeway. Stop off and stay a while. I dare you to leave early.

If you live in the neighborhood this little cozy place would be great for hanging out. .. small bar, friendly servers, interesting 50’s deco. One suggestion: They definitely need to rethink their menu. Go with light bar food. Skip the 3 sizes of pizza, skip the multiple toppings, skip the salads, skip the sandwiches, etc. Unless you are going to have a full kitchen, stick to quick bar food. APPETIZERS /BAR FOOD Small pizza — one size only(cheese or pepperoni) Sliders BBQ Wings Salsa & Chips Fries or Tots(sauces on the side) Popcorn /Peanuts /Pretzels
If they just get the«food» part of it right, they will have a good thing going in this great neighborhood.

Great service, food, patio, happy hour, and cool interior design! On the menu I love the Buffalo Tots(as a native of Western New York), and the stromboli is to die for! Pizza dough is made fresh, toppings are fresh, and nothing is fried so it seems like a somewhat healthier alternative to the typical pub fair. Go here for happy hour or to unwind your day/week! This place has a very friendly vibe as I typically go here alone and invited to join in some fun conversations. They also do geeks who drink. Fun, fun, fun!

This is my new neighborhood haunt as it is exactly 287 feet from my house. Also because the alcohol flows strong and cheap. Add to this one of the HOTTEST jukeboxes in the Mile High and a late night kitchen and you have a destination to behold!

Stingray is now open and has taken the place of what was Gelman’s and the short lived Boston Fish Shack. What an awesome transition! It is now a cool 50s style décor bar and restaurant with cool couches and sassy lamps. The booths are in animal print and surround a pool table. This will be the perfect spot for summers on the patio and the entire area is fantastic with stools alongside a bar that overlooks 38th ave. They don’t have their full menu out yet but I was told that it will be similar to Horseshoe Lounge’s with pizza, sandwiches and tater tots(YES!) They served free pizza tonight to get the night going and it was super good. Really thin crust, light sauce and lots of different toppings to choose from. You have to go in and check it out. It’s definitely a great new spot in the Highlands. I am so excited!
