OK, I have been ordering from this place for years, ever since I moved to the area and their pizza is not that bad. I have never had a problem with it, they are always topped to the brim with whatever toppings I’ve ordered and a generous amount of cheese. To me, they are a greasy, cheesy indulgence and always delivered steaming hot by a cheerful delivery driver. They used to have some Mexican items on their menu but it looks like they’ve streamlined. In addition to pizza, they have some sandwiches, salads and pasta. Yes, the building looks shabby and when you call in an order the guy who answers the phone has all the personality of a professional hitman accepting a contract for a hit, but if you want a nice change from chain pizza places, try it out.

Sal makes a good, dependable pizza pie. Generous with toppings. On the greasy side, sure. I’ve never had one that wasn’t cooked through, unlike most of the places in Thornton. Ignore the clowns thinking Dominos is better or the guy who can’t eat pizza unless he has a red carpet. Sal’s pizza tastes good. I have also had the calzone and his gyros and enjoyed both.

You’ve GOTTA be kidding me! I’ve noticed this place on more than one occasion. You pretty much can’t miss it. It’s the A-frame building in front of the crack motel in that shady, 95% abandoned shopping center parking lot in a not so nice part of Thornton. This afternoon, I was pretty blown away to actually see the neon OPEN sign illuminated. I’ve gone thinking it was just another closed, abandoned building, so I decided to pop in and check it out. Upon walking up, I noticed someone was outside watering what appeared to be a tiny garden, with a classy, handwritten sign in front of it that read, «Sal’s Calzone.» Hey, I thought it was«Sal’s Pizzeria?» When I walked in, I kid you not, there was no power on whatsoever. Nothing. Not even a radio or a clock, and I didn’t feel any heat from the oven, which is usually a given in most pizzerias. As I’ve never seen a soul in there, I’m guessing maybe they just keep everything turned off(including the power) until someone orders something, and/or nightfall rolls around. I asked if they sold pizza by the slice, and got a quick«no» from the proprietor, so I went about my way.

This was the worst pizza I’ve ever had. It was a flavorless, gooey mess. Disgusting and a waste of money.

After moving into the area and seeing local reviews I finally tried Sal’s. Well, it’s definitely not the best pizza i’ve had… it’s edible that’s it. The crust is like Domino’s style of crust. puffy n chewy. The sausage was not very good, the sauce was bland and the cheese just didn’t taste right. I’m a big pizza connoisseur and this place didn’t even come close to good pizza. borderline gross.:( Domino’s is better.
