Fun place, great atmosphere. Erver was knowledgeable of the menu and was abke to make suggestions for a party of three. Wonderful bison ! When in Denver, go here, it’s a must. Don’t forget to chill with a vodka Moscow mule, or two.

I had terrible service and even worse food last night. The recommended vodka for my drink dos not taste good, my table’s food came out in shifts, and when I finally did get my chicken sandwich it was cold. I won’t be returning. I’ve attempted this place a few times and it’s never a great memory.

Our service on this visit was excellent. It took me a while to get acknowledged in the bar area, but once we moved to the patio it was first class all the way. Our server made useful recommendations as to drinks and happy hour food. The quality of both was very good. I would definitely come here again.

I luckily found myself in this bar this morning. I was in the mood for bloody marys and sassafras was just too busy. Prohibition had no wait, and it was cool, not pretentious, not super divey. My bloody mary was flavorful, spicy and inexpensive. It was only $ 6! I didn’t have any food but I wouldn’t mind coming back for more drinks.

The drinks are amazing! I had a few but I will say that the Whiskey Thyme is fantastic. I managed to get the last one before they ran out if tea but it will be my preferred beverage all summer ’16. The only real issue I had was that they were out of certain drinks and foods late at night. So, if you want the mac and cheese or a Whiskey Thyme, you’ll want to come in early.

This short rib burger was everything. So much so I sled for additional juice/sauce they cook the short rib in. Omgheeee. It was really good.

I don’t really see myself returning here. The entire experience was meh. The happy hour is ok, not great. We chose this place because their happy hour ran until 7. $ 5 appetizers would be better if the appetizers weren’t normally $ 5-$ 7. Well drinks aren’t that discounted either. The service wasn’t great. We got there at 6pm, our server probably took our order around 6:15 but after bringing the food didn’t come back until after 7 meaning we only got to place 1 happy hour order. Most servers check in just before happy hour ends, I would have gotten another drink and another app. The other two people I was with were just drinking water and sprite, I had a vodka cranberry but I still drank all of my water and never had it refilled. Our server swung by and refilled one of the 3 glasses of water leaving the other two empty and didn’t gives us a chance to ask for anything else. For food we ordered the crispy polenta, which was delicious and the mozzarella bites and sweet potato fries which were fine. The place was clean and not too loud until after 7:30. They bring your check in an old book which is cute. Overall the passive aggressive service and lack of charm will probably have me headed for the Irish Snug down the street in the future.

I went here with my girlfriend after seeing the joint on Triple D! We ordered three meals, not apps, meals! The bison pastrami and short rib burger are EVERYTHING! Holy deliciousness, we came for our cheat meal and it was 1000% worth it! We also got the pot pie, even the seasoned veggies and the sweet potatoes were so bomb, the aioli is also super super delicious. great place, will definitely be taking friends here for dinner and a few drinks! PS– the mules there are so delicious!

We stopped in to Prohibition for a late night dinner last Friday night. The vibe of this place is pretty cool, I like the dark, rustic atmosphere. The only thing that was offsetting was the music, holy cow was it loud, we could hardly hear each other speak. When we left my ears were actually ringing. The service was very friendly and quick. We started with a couple cocktails, I got the Strawberry Fields which I loved and the boyfriend got a bourbon cocktail which he said was very strong(in a good way!) The meal was great, I loved the 20 minute Chicken Pot Pie and he devoured his braised short rib. Yummy comfort food! We will definitely return, but maybe at an earlier time when the music is down.

I’ve come here for happy hour and dinner. Both are fantastic. They have great drink and food specials. My friend and I were just a bit more hungry for real food. I got the shrimp po’boy, and it was quite tasty. Lots of great chunks of crispy shrimp and sausage which married well with their spicy remoulade. I look forward to coming back again some time to try more stuff.

Say yes to the 20-minute chicken pot pie, but only if: 1. you’re not in a hurry 2. you are not on a budget 3. you are not that hungry The chicken pot pie I got was… de-freaking-licious. BUT at $ 16, I thought it was going to be sizable, but the size reminded me of the frozen pot pies you can buy at the grocery store. The wait for the pie is over 20 minutes. Yes, the name is 20 minute chicken pot pie, but my god, they are not kidding. The service was good, not super attentive, but I did get everything I needed, so no complaints there.

We decided to eat dinner here before it was on the food network. The server mentioned they were famous for the braised short rib sliders. They were awesome. I’m not a big rib fan, but these were so good. I highly recommend them. I was here with 2 friends and we all ended up getting the pot pie. We were a little hesitant at first because the menu says they take 20+ minutes, but it was worth it. Not even sure if it took that long. This was seriously the best pot pie I’ve ever had. The drinks are great here too. I had some sort of strawberry cocktail and Moscow mule. Bottom line, if you’re in the area you have to check this place out!

Had my birthday lunch here before catching a flight. They have the best food. I got three different plates. The ribs are to die for. I only wanted to come here because it was featured on triple d. I will definitely come again. Make sure you get the dulce de leche ice cream. Heaven in your mouth.

We came in on a Friday night and this is a happening place! We had the Dining Out Denver books which got us buy one get one for entrees. Our choices were pretty simply since they only have 3 entrees. I got the Fish and Chips which was very good and my guy got the short ribs which he also really enjoyed. It was pretty loud in there so having conversations was a little tough. I loved how they gave the check in a book though– it was such a nice touch.

This review is just about their brunch offerings. And, admittedly, I went here not looking for brunch(I was hoping for lunch) and so I was sort of disappointed that their brunch menu only had 4 real ‘lunch’ items compared to around 8 ‘breakfast’ items. So this all may have colored my review and lowered the rating some. However, I went here with my partner to grab lunch in Denver before flying out of town that night. Admittedly, the main reason we went here is because we saw it on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives and though it might be humorous(or at least a gloriously indulgent way to finish off a vacation). Unfortunately we found ourselves there on a Sunday afternoon, during brunch, and got a pretty Meh experience. The bar/restaurant itself looks pretty nice. It’s dark but comforting, and all the decorations flow back into the name ‘Prohibition.’ The bar itself is gorgeous with a beautiful back-display for all their boozy offerings. Like I said, we were pretty disappointed with the food offerings, but that was because it was 2PM and the best offers were still breakfast items. We ordered from the smaller number of lunch offerings, and got the Bison Pastrami sandwich and the Focaccia Chicken sandwich. Both were served in a basket with fries(which I’d assume were pre-frozen). Both were pretty good, but not great. The chicken was pretty bland, and the best part of the pastrami sandwich was the pretzel roll. It was good, but not worthy of a TV show. I will admit, the biscuits and gravy I saw at another table looked pretty good. Our server was good but seemed in a pretty big hurry for how empty the place was. I’m not sure if he ever actually stopped at our table, or just accomplished everything as he was walking by. Dropping off drinks and food, even taking our menu it seemed like he never actually stopped for us, which was just a little off-putting. Luckily, the prices were really reasonable, so even if it ended up being a pretty ‘meh’ end to a great vacation, it was probably the cheapest meal we were able to find in the entire state. So that’s a plus.

Came in for an early dinner and got the bison pastrami sandwich and sweet potato fries. The atmosphere is nice, like a dimly lit alehouse from some decades ago. Service was fine and friendly. As for the bison pastrami sandwich, it was maybe the best pastrami I’ve ever had. The meat was tender and flavorful, but didn’t feel as fatty as traditional beef pastrami. The bun was a soft pretzel roll that paired well with the meat and the mustard dipping sauce, and the garlic aioli added some nice extra flavor. Although I wish the sandwich was a tad bit cheaper than $ 13, given that it doesn’t come with a side, I would definitely order it again. The sweet potato fries were also great, especially when dipped into their garlic aioli. The side of these fries costs $ 3, so you are out $ 16 for a pastrami and sweet potato fries, but it’s worth it and I recommend trying it next time you are here.

I am only rating for the bar, so I feel like I have to hold back on the five stars until I sample the food. BUT… love this spot. I am a big fan of the Colfax bar crawl, and Prohibition is always on the list. The remodel a couple years ago really made the entire place so much nicer, and I love the fact that there is SPACE to move around and talk with our friends, sit at a table and watch the games on the TVs… all at the same time. Drinks are great — loved my John Daly cocktail, and although my friend’s drink was almost too strong, better strong then weak, right?

I looked on Unilocal and saw some pictures and went out of my way to come here. The menu isn’t huge but the things we ordered were amazing. We both got their version of an Old Fashion(Breaking Bad) and it was strong and not too sweet. I had to try the short ribs minis(I love anything short rib) and they did not disappoint. The star of the show and the reason we came was the 20 minute chicken pot pie and it was worth the jaunt. The chicken was tender, the sauce packed with flavor and the flakey buttery crust melted in your mouth. We sat outside on the patio and had a mighty good time. Highly recommend!

Came in for Geeks Who Drink(Monday night at 8pm) to a decent amount of people ready to play. The overall atmosphere is relaxing and a good spot to meet-up with some friends. The bar was definitely loud so a bit hard to hear the questions but as is every other place that hosts GWD nights. The drinks were decent and the bar tenders very nice guys. We all ordered some food that was good/not great but this isn’t a five star dining restaurant. I wont lie the best part for me was more so the view! There is definitely some prime people watching off Colfax that provides more than enough entertainment for the night!

Came here cause I saw the wonderful pictures of the 20 minute chicken pot pie. I sat at the bar to have lunch. The restaurant has plenty of seating and has a nice size bar. I started with the braised short rib minis. They were tasty! The short ribs were tender and juicy and had a slaw and special sauce on top on fresh baked bread. Then I had the chicken pot pie. The puff pastry top was good. It was buttery and flaky. A little to much salt on top for my taste. The filling was nice and thick wasn’t watery at all. It had vegetables, white, and dark meat shredded chicken. The service for lunch was fast and the bartenders were friendly. The restaurant was clean and well kept. They also had a nice selection of local draft beers. They also have a late night menu with small bites.
