I am a fan of PS Lounge, because who doesn’t like a place where you get a free shot(and a rose if you are a lady) when you order your first drink? I love taking my friends that need a pick up here, as they are always surprised by the shot and the rose. The bartenders are usually pretty awesome, but there are a few that just seem to hate being there. They have pool tables, but I have never played it there. Definitely, a great dive bar to hit up when you are in that part of town.

Old school bar virtually untouched by time(i.e. carpeted stairs and metal railing leading up to the bathrooms). There’s a pool table and a great jukebox, plus you can get a slice at Enzo’s Pizza next door. Was here recently for a friend’s birthday and had a blast. Complimentary(mild) shot and rose upon arrival. Love old school bars like this.

I love this bar! The drinks are dirt cheap. You get a free shot and a rose when you order a drink. I come here for the cheap drinks and because the owner is amazing. Don’t let the other reviews deceive you.

I’ve been reading the horrible reviews and had to respond as this is my absolute favorite bar in Denver. This is an individually owned establishment(and NOT the Pete from Pete’s Kitchen). Pete is Greek, a bit crabby and has owned the bar over 30 years. He is quirky, but a racist, no. I have seen black people there, another poster was right, Denver is not a diverse town. I have seen him kick people out, if you are extremely drunk or high(I don’t think he’s a big pot fan) he will kick you out. He buys free shots for patrons frequently, I can’t believe someone was actually complaining about that! My opinion is the drinks are cheap, the bartenders are good once you get to know them and not much changes there. And yes, free roses for the ladies and a shot for everyone.

Never in my life. Pete is incredibly rude and exercises his right to refuse service very strongly. I’ve not only witnessed this personally, but other Unilocal reviewers have said it, too. I will never, ever, frequent ANY of the many establishments he owns in Denver.

Simply put, I will never go to PS Lounge again after seeing my black friend kicked out for no reason. I encourage everyone to patronize literally any other bar on the east end over Pete’s House of Racism. Ask yourself: Is the free«shot» really worth letting people like that get away with staying in business? In addition, as a woman I get very, very creepy vibes from Pete, who will blatantly ogle you and insist on buying your drinks for you so he can sit closer to you and drool all over you.

Cute dive bar with old world racist charm! The owner, Pete(also of Pete’s Kitchen) is always hanging out here, and seems like he is a bit«particular» as to who can patronize his bar and who cannot. The incident we experienced doesn’t seem to be as isolated of an event as we had hoped once I was able to read other people’s experiences here. I’m hoping others can use this review to help make some informed decisions and critically assess what might be going on around them. Last Saturday I met up with some friends at the PS Lounge before a show at the Bluebird. We were waiting on another friend of theirs to join us. This friend had just met someone on his way over, and apparently invited him along for a drink(or the guy invited himself, not sure). This new guy mentioned that he knew Pete doesn’t serve black people and he’ll probably kick them both out when they come in simply because our friend was coming in with him. Our friend is a very lighthearted and positive guy, so he naturally didn’t believe it because Pete has always been so nice to the people he has been there with. He insisted they at least go and check it out, and partly because my friend wanted to see this happen with his own eyes. Sure enough, we saw our friend come in, along with this new guy. They both said hi to us at the booth we were sitting at, and then our friend went to the bar to get a beer(for himself). The bartender was handing him a beer just as Pete walked over and grabbed the beer out of his hand and said that they weren’t going to serve him. The exact reason wasn’t made very clear to our friend. He walked back over to the booth, said something about not being served, laughed a little dumbfounded, and he and this other guy walked out the door. After our friend walked out, Pete came over to our booth and was asking us something incoherent about whether we «knew that guy». We played like we didn’t really understand what he was asking us, but we were pretty stunned having just witnessed the whole thing go down. Thinking back on it, we didn’t see any people of color at PS Lounge that night, and my friends who go there more often said they don’t think they’ve seen any black people there any of the other times they’ve been there either. It’s a little strange considering the location, and the way it was handled left a lot to be desired. Updated: I was contacted by the bartender that was working that night and she wanted to explain(which is putting it mildly) what happened. «[…] isn’t allowed in the bar because the last three times he has come in he has tried to get anyone that will talk to him to buy him a drink. We want our customers to be comfortable and enjoy themselves, it’s hard to do that when someone is trying to mooch drinks off of you.» I’m not sure how that explains why my friend was refused service when he was simply trying to buy a single drink for himself. Why not figure out the situation and then tell the guy you don’t want there to leave? Kicking out everyone that you think *might* be involved with this guy you don’t like being in your bar is a bit extreme. As to why people that had been going there for years realized they don’t think they’ve ever seen a black person in PS Lounge before, her explanation was«Denver isn’t necessarily an extremely diverse city, so not seeing „a black person“ in the bar that night wouldn’t be a surprise.» Except that the bar is located in one of the more diverse areas of Denver, and it doesn’t explain away the rather similar experiences of some of the other Unilocal reviewers. The whole thing is off-putting, but make up your own mind and make your own observations. I’d love to be wrong about this.

P S LOUnge was quite interesting we walked in and the owner insisted that our Id s where fake, followed by this idiot at the bar was slurring and saying goodbye. I took my friends here because it normally is a good spot but not today. At this point I would not recommend anyone to go. I can now understand why they never have any one there. So I recommend that not biddy frequent this place and that we file with city to shut them the fuck down

Came in tonight with my two friends and sat the the bar, the girl serving us was rude and made us feel like she didn’t want us there. We were just trying to find a new place to grab a drink that was local! We checked Unilocal and it had great reviews, so we thought we would give it a chance! I asked for a bud weiser draft and she had an attitude saying we only have bottled beer. The service was horrible and it was the worst service I have ever had! I have had better service at McDonald’s honestly! Get some more friendly bar tenders especially on a Friday night!

As far as dive bars go, this place is awesome. Went to meet a friend one day when it had been raining. I got there before my friend and was the only person there. Sat at the bar and the bartender was incredibly friendly. Being a girl, I received a rose and a free shot which are nice touches. Was there during happy hour and the drinks were SO cheap. Place is also cash only, which isn’t a big deal as there is an ATM inside. Told my husband all about the place and he’s been really wanting to go. Will definitely go back.

The owner, Pete, is a racist. There is no room for this in society today. Read below, I am not the only person who has been refused service when coming to the PS with someone who is black. Wake up, Pete, this aint the 1950s anymore.(It breaks my heart to write this as the PS was my favorite bar in Denver, and the bartenders are really great).

Great service, great prices and the Bartender gave me a beautiful rose and a free shot. Very lay back. Bring cash, they do not accept cards.

One of the most unfriendly bartenders I’ve ever run across. She never cracked a smile and made no attempt to be remotely human. Weird guy in the corner kept buying us shots. We heard he was the owner.

Just moved into the neighborhood, figured id check the place out seeing as I need a new after work watering hole. The sign outside reads happy hour 3 till 6. Asked the old man behind the bar what the happy hour specials were. He asked if I had ever been to the establishment before to which I said no. he then asked if I had been drinking. Alright dude you obviously just have something against making money, because I was one of three people in that bar. The only sober one for that matter maybe for the exception of your sorry ass, the other two people looked like a used up east colfax hooker, the other a used car salesman who’s wife had just left him after hearing he got fired again. So needless to say I won’t be making ps lounge my home away from home. Sorry for whoever owns this place, that dude is taking would be money outta your pocket

I like this place. With that being said I’ll be the first to give an honest review. You come in and there’s old decorations like your grandpas garage or an old vfw. It’s a really cool atmosphere and it’s really relaxed. There’s a separate room with a pool table and you’re able to order food from the pizza place next door at the bar. The bar tenders have always been pretty cool, and enjoyable. Don’t expect anything good for drinks though. I suggest beer or shots. Unless you enjoy mixing your liquor with carbonated high fructose corn syrup. Yuck. Anyway this is a great place to get away from the crowds and droves of obnoxious individuals you’ll find at other places on colfax and around Denver.

Wow! I can’t believe that I haven’t been in this bar after living in the Denver area for 12 years, yet now went two times within a week. The first time I went there very friendly bartender and the owner Pete was there. Second time it was earlier in the day so I had the please of getting the full experience with Pete bartending. Drinks are inexpensive and have a great pour. Got my two roses and my Alabama Slammer shot the 2nd day. I love dive bars and this definitely fit the bill and pretty much anyone will feel welcome and like you belong(and have been coming there forever). Pete is from Greece as well as I had family there and he helped me brush up on the minimal Greek I know. Just a great all around joint(also has a pool table… and apparently a juke box which I didn’t see since I was belly up at the bar). Just remember to bring cash for the drinks(which I think helps keep the cost of the drinks so reasonable) and you can order a pizza from the place next door who will bring it right to you in the bar(they take cards). Enjoy!

5 stars for a great little place! Thanks to our friends for introducing us to this place, we now visit almost anytime we see a show at the Bluebird, or close by for that matter. It’s small, dark, and has a fun little retro feel to it. You get a free shot with your first round and ladies always get a rose! Plus drinks are extremely reasonably priced here. I’m pretty sure that each time we were here we have had the same bartender. I don’t know her name, but she is great. Always friendly and always organized. There is a jukebox and a pool table(or 2?) to enjoy while you sip on your drinks. Grab a pizza from next door too, it’s delicious! Last time the owner came out and chatted with all of us. He was really friendly and ended up buying our table a round of shots! DEFINITELY check this place out.

You walk into this place, and you instantly feel like a regular, even if you’ve only been a couple of times. Whoever is working the bar will act as if you guys go way back, and that makes me feel all warm inside. The bartenders and servers are attentive, without being annoyingly so. I love it. Every lady gets a rose, and everyone’s first drink comes with a free shot: an Alabama Slammer. The rose is a nice touch, and the shot is the perfect sweetness to start off a night of drinking. Why don’t I come here every night? And the drinks are relatively cheap. Beware: it is cash only, so be prepared for that fact. Come ready, or get the heck out of here! How do you think they keep those low prices? With a jukebox and pool tables in the back, can you really go wrong? It’s a Denver staple.

Being from San Francisco and very used to spending no less than $ 10 on every drink I consume, imagine how 1% I felt like when I rolled into PS Lounge and made a Hamilton stretch into four, yes… *four* vodka + sodas! That’s no typo: a well drink at this lovely Geek man’s rathskeller will only ding you $ 2.50, even at 11:45 on a Friday night. Is this real life?! How does he pay his bills? Not only is Pete(owner of PS Lounge) running quite the nifty little dive, he’s also a ladies man who makes sure that every human stemming from the XX chromosome is handed a fresh cut rose upon entry, and you’ll never start your night of drinking without a shot their finest fruity elixir. It’s like he’s giving away the farm any given night, but in the most charming possible fashion. I feel like I’m rich in the 3oh!3!
