I came here last Thursday night with two of my friends and we had a great time. We both had their Oysters and its unbeatable, awesome goodness. We also ordered the Steamed PEI Mussels, it was delicious. And the most promising of all is their Lobster. Service is just the average accommodations, the atmosphere is also the same, another thing that I like is the high standard of cleanliness that is very evident inside the restaurant. Recommended.

Overall, great dining experience. We went on Friday at 5pm, just in time for happy hour. I was expecting there to be a line out the door, since that’s what I’ve been told is normal there. We were lucky to find no line and two open seats at the bar. We ordered the happy hour calamari and Manhattan clam chowder. Both were delicious! The sweet chili sauce on the calamari was my favorite. We asked for our soup to be a little spicy and it was perfect. Everything came out quickly and all of the bartenders, servers and bussers were consistent to check on us and clean up. It was the best service I’ve seen/received in awhile. We will definitely be going back!

Happy hour oysters are fresh and delicious, drinks are reasonably priced, although the happy hour cocktails were weak. Good service and atmosphere.

Perfect place for drinks & appetizers. Walked in, we were greeted right away & seated shortly after. Enjoyed the bar view of the chiefs cooking. Great service & the suggestions were on point. Loved the oysters & they were so fresh. Definitely going here again during our next trip to Denver!

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We came in on a Friday just before Happy Hour was done. I got the fruit de mer to sample… that was ok… I found it to be on the tart side. Then, I had the ahi tuna with coconut lemongrass rice and he had the strip sirloin. Both were delicious and I even asked for more rice which was complimentary. Jose, our waiter, was very helpful. We finished with the homemade cookies and a scoop of ice cream. This was also tasty!

Moving from Denver to Tampa in a few weeks and Jax is one of many restaurants on my bucket list. Disappointed was the word to describe my experience, Although the Calamari app was good, it was not great. Red pepper chili mango sauce and lime aioli sauces good additions. In my opinion very limited fish offerings for a fish house. Tuna over cooked and very very expensive for a small portion. Other meals were good but not great as well. Seems trendy and… well…average. Money more well spent at other fish places around the city. From the reviews it seems like happy hour is the salient feature to this place. On to Tampa!

Awesome seafood in Denver! Arrived at 9:30p after a show and enjoyed a relaxed yet buzzing vibe over drinks, oysters and appetizers. Great service that didn’t hover and yet seemed to be around when you wanted something.

Not going back to Jax ever again. I’ve gone to Jax many times and over the last year or so their service and food quality has just gone down hill. I’d recommend Stoic and Genuine or Blue Island Oyster Bar if you’re thinking about seafood, especially oysters. Yesterday was my girlfriend’s birthday and she wanted seafood before a concert downtown. I made a reservation at Jax at 6:30. When we arrived, they couldn’t seat us and we had to wait at the bar. The cocktails we ordered took forever because they were out of soda water, which seems like poor timing for the beginning of a dinner rush. We the ordered oysters, calamari, steamed snow crab, and the charred octopus. After waiting another 15 minutes, we received our oysters. Three of the 6 had broken shell pieces in them. We were then informed they were out of the octopus. At this point, we had been at Jax for 45 minutes. Because they were taking so long to bring our appetizers, we didn’t order main dishes because we thought we’d be late for our concert. We finally received the calamari and snow crab. The calamari was fine. The snow crab was dried out in the shell and fell apart when we attempted to take any meat out. After pointing this out, the snow crab was taken off the bill. TL/DR: Went to Jax, waited for a table even though we had a reservation, sat for over an hour and ended up only eating oysters with shell in them and fried calamari. I generally don’t like to leave reviews, but our poor experience yesterday really left both me and my girlfriend upset.

Rocky Mountain High– Part III Another excellent meal in Denver! We made reservations in advance of our trip and were contacted twice to confirm prior to our visit. Again, this was part of our anniversary weekend and we were treated wonderfully by all. Upon entering. the place has a nice, open feel to it from the extra long open bar with seating to the white subway tiles on the wall. Service was super friendly and attentive from start to finish. We went directly for the entrees; Pan seared halibut for my husband and seared scallops for me. Both outstanding in their preparation. Vegetables and sauces did not overwhelm the taste of the fish. We were content with forgoing the dessert menu BUT… then we were given a surprise dessert! A warm chocolate chip cookie topped by a scoop of ice cream plus a candle on the plate for a wish! How could we not like this place???

Never have had a bad meal or experience at any Jax location. The oysters are always fresh and their calamari is the best I’ve had.

I’m really hoping that our experience yesterday was an anomaly but things didn’t go well for us. Walked in right about 5:00 pm looking forward to some happy hour cocktails and oysters. No one at the host stand, so took a seat at the bar but either the bar is too high or the bar stools are too short — just uncomfortable. Looked around at a bunch of empty tables so we moved ourselves to a nice one in a corner. About that time a host makes an appearance — he gives us the stinky eye and says«So, you just seated yourself?» with plenty of attitude. I said, «Well, yes we did since there was no host here when we arrived and no sign that said please wait to be seated or reserved placards on any of the tables». He immediately placed«reserved» signs on every other empty table in the room. Not very subtle and we certainly felt like the turds in the punch bowl. A waitress eventually appeared and took our cocktail and oyster order — returned with our cocktails(very good for $ 5HH). Half an hour later no oysters nor the offer of a second cocktail which would have been nice. Would really like to explore the HH food menu — looks good but we were out of time because we had dinner reservations. Finally, flagged down a very nice waitress(not ours) explained our plight and asked for the check. She comped our two cocktails which is the only reason for the second star.

Super awesome seafood joint!!! Excellent service and reservations are kept timely. I like the modern feel of Jax. It very open and casual, however, I do suggest reservations on the weekend. We had some peel and eat shrimp, calamari, few oysters, and some snow crab. The peel and eat shrimp were my favorite. They were perfectly seasoned and served with some yummy sauces. The calamari was more like little steaks than the rings I am used to. The flavor wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t big on the overall texture. The snow crab was prepared well and served up cold or warm. I would absolutely go back to Jax next time I am in Denver, sheerly because of the awesome customer service. The food was fantastic as well.

They just changed their menu 2 days ago and the website is not updated. It took 15 mins to get our drink order taken. And another 10 to get our check after our food was boxed up. I don’t recommend the snapper. It was bland and the leeks & barley didn’t add anything to the dish. Will be back for Happy Hour but I’ll be hesitant to try the main entrees again. Disappointing because I’ve wanted to try Jax since moving here years ago.

My guy and I went here a few weeks ago on a Saturday night. By the time of 7:30pm they were out of all their oysters. Seems very early to be running out at an oyster bar. We shared a salad and I had the Seared Scallops & Belly. It was delish! Wish it had been a little larger of a portion, but we had room for desserts. Yes, we had to get 2. The fresh chocolate cookies and S’mores Torte. I used parts of the cookie to dish the chocolate in to my mouth. Dessert put us over the top. Good cocktails too.

GREATHAPPYHOUR! Myself and 5 friends came in for a SATURDAY(yes Saturday) happy hour. I am not a huge oyster fan. I will try a few, which I did. There are so many other items on the happy hour menu. My husband was obsessed with the garlic fries. We had to order 3 orders for the table. The peal and eat shrimp is fresh and yummy. Their happy hour drink menu is just as extensive. I opted for their house Rose. It did not disapoint. I will be back for happy hour at JAX. I had a peak at their dinner menu and it might be a tad out of my budget. Happy hour did the trick.

I would give this restaurant 6 stars if that was a option. Two friends and I were looking for a «hip+top notch» restaurant to dine at while visiting Denver from Texas. We were all very pleased to find Jax Fish House! The food was exceptional, the drink selection was on point(beer, wine and mixed) The ambiance was killer, perfect spot for a first date, treating a client to dinner or with out on the town with friends. Our server Chad went above and beyond to insure we had a great experience. He was engaging, personably and took time to explain both the drink menu and all item we were inquiring about from the dinner menu. I will for sure recommend this restaurant to friends and family! Make sure to ask for Chad, he will our experience unforgettable!

This is just about the perfect place for drinks and appetizers in the early afternoon. The food is exceptional and the drinks are well crafted. I especially enjoyed the open bar where oysters were being prepared along with drinks. This place gets busy quick after 5:00pm and the hustle and bustle makes for a very lively atmosphere. The waitstaff are great, quick with recommendations(I especially like when they tell you what NOT to order). There is plenty of seating here and the place is comfortable and good thing, you’ll be here a while. Not unlike every other place in this area of Denver, don’t plan on parking close. Don’t be surprised if you see me here around happy hour every day I’m in Denver!

My first impression of Jax was great. I was visiting family and brought them along so our party was rather large(six). Instead of forcing us to sit outside or wait and make a reservation the manager quickly put together a table for us. Not exactly the easiest task as this place really is a counter bar with table seating. Our server was super attentive and helpful and every table was covered in white craft paper. I’m sure it’s meant for easy cleanup but they leave crayons so I had to leave behind a masterpiece. My first drink was the strawberry lemonade($ 5: house infused strawberry vodka, lemonade) and while I’m not big on vodka I enjoyed this refreshing take on a summer staple. The lemonade wasn’t too tart and the infused vodka had a good strawberry flavor. Next was the gumbo fries which is Jax’s version of poutine. I would have liked the fries to be a bit more crispy, but the gumbo was a nice twist. The andouille gave this dish a more hearty base than their regular cup of gumbo, but the flavor was lacking real depth. To round out my visit I tried the bacon fat chicken wings which was sadly the most disappointing dish of the night. I had very high hopes for these wings because bacon = greatness. The wings didn’t inherently have a bacon flavor nor did they evoke any bite from the chili sauce. The crème fraîche seemed out of place on the actual wing adding nothing of note.

I have no idea why it took me this long to visit Jax, maybe because it was always busy when we stopped by but for good reason– It’s super good! We came here for happy hour on a Friday so the place was lively! They have cool decorations like you’re under the sea kind of. They have a patio to chill and have food and drinks outside to enjoy the weather. They also have a bar with all the oysters you can see being shucked and prepared. Plus the tables have paper sheets you can actually color with for the kids at hearts! The food and drinks were all delicious! My favorite drink was the strawberry lemonade. We got the $ 1.5 oysters, chicken wings, salmon poke and the sliders. Ahhhh I love oysters! And this hit the spot for me! So good! The wigs were messy, as it should be and good. Not as crispy as I like but nonetheless amazing. The salmon poke was actually a sweetly dish for me than savory which was very interesting. It came with sticky rice like the ones they use for sushi! Yum! The sliders were great as well! We miraculously had room for coffee and dessert. We had a coffee press and got the s’mores tart. Super rich! It was good but I wish the chocolate was smoother and lighter.

I’ll start by saying best seafood eatery I’ve been too. No questions asked… best. I’ve been to Jax on several occasions mostly for the happy hour bites and drinks. Some things you can’t miss: oysters, curry muscles, hush puppies and the calamari. These items are simply amazing and deadly delicious. If you go, ask for Jose. His service truly exemplifies the definition of service.

Saw the Happy Hour sign and gave it a try. Sat by the raw bar where you see that action taking place. I had a dozen oysters, a small pork belly bite, and dynomite seafood sandwich. The oysters were fresh and shucked in front of you while you wait. They were salty and no brine or sand at all inside. Great with the cocktail and horseradish sauce and lemon. I also had the peel and eat shrimp. They were good and tasty. The restaurant was had plenty of seating inside with additional seating at the bar. It was clean and well kept. The staff was friendly.

From reservation to dessert, dining at Jax in LoDo was fantastic! I took my husband there to celebrate a job promotion and when I called to make reservations, I mentioned it. The call taker was very pleasant and friendly and made sure to repeat the reservation time. When we arrived on a Saturday at 5pm, the table was ready for us and it was happy hour-thank goodness! We both indulged in adult beverages and I had the cucumber, lemonade, vodka, and sparkling water cocktail that was so refreshing. We shared three appetizers: curry mussels, fresh oysters, and sockeye salmon poke. The first two were excellent, but the poke was just ok(it rhymes, get it?!). For our entrees we ordered and shared the Arctic Char and a lobster roll with a cornbread skillet side. Omg, they were so tasty and fresh! We were in love with both, but I am a sucker for lobster and loved the generous fresh lobster meat and greens on a toasted, buttery hotdog bun. The corn skillet was so comforting, sweet, and satisfying. The char was very delicate and moist. It was such an amazing dinner for two ex-Floridians who miss seafood! Finally, we ended the meal with a surprise ice cream dessert with a candle to celebrate the work promotion. I can’t believe they remembered and even did anything. It was a delicious, sweet end to a great meal… but that isn’t all I have to say about the experience. What I noticed is that all of the staff at Jax LoDo help each other out. Our waitress was fantastic, but she wasn’t the only person we had meaningful contact with. There was a manager and a server who chatted with us. Everyone looked like they took care of each other and that impressed us. Everything was seamless and professional. We are head over heals for Jax and can’t wait to go back for happy hour and dinner again!

Last Saturday, I took my buddy out for his birthday. I asked him if he liked seafood(have not had any in a while!). He said yea. So the next part was scoring a reservation. Thanks to the trusty Unilocal app, I snagged one for 8:45 that night. We were running right on time, and checked right in. Hang tight on that thought. This place offers valet parking, has(very limited) street parking, and 2 paid lots, if you choose to drive. Being that time on a Saturday night, this place was mobbed. I wish I could emphasize the word«mobbed» more. I saw an occupancy sign that said 97. Hang tight on that thought(I keep jumping the gun, I know). The restaurant itself is a corner unit of a brick building 2 blocks from Union Station. The restaurant is long and narrow. The bar takes up the middle, and there is bar seating all the way up and down. To the left of the bar that wall has booth seating, and to the right wall, more bar seating. There is also a patio, but it was not put in use(cold n windy). After checking in, it was a very crowded area. I kept feeling like I was in everyone’s way(which I was). This place is very cozy, to say the least. We were waiting about 10 – 15 min, and a manager apologized. She ended up buying us some beer(nice!). That kept our buzz going. We finally got seated. There were apologetic about the wait. It was fine, as long as we would get fed. I liked how they had the paper for table“cloth” you could draw on. Trust me, I did. Started off with the small chilled seafood platter. They gave us bibs to wear, I am glad they did! Hacked at that, it was solid. You could tell the seafood was fresh, and not previously frozen. I guess I would hope so for the price! Believe it or not, we were still hungry. Mind you we were pounding drinks during the whole time, I couldn’t tell you what I had, I had so many. After that, we were still hungry. We both ended up getting the Jax burger, and some house bread. Yo, after a bunch of seafood, it was awesome! I liked the toppings on the burger and bread was a great booze soaker. I honestly can’t remember if we got dessert or not, I do know I got a dessert drink. That was a delicious 1 sipper. All in all, the evening was nice. It wasn’t cheap, but worth it. Hell. I even left out of there with the bib on.
