Figgy piggy was amazing! Bacon, almond butter, goat cheese, fig paste and liberal honey! An incredible spin on the traditional peanut butter and jelly sandwich!

I had the opportunity to try this at an event that had hired«Hey PB&J» to cater. Not bad, but very rich. The sandwiches oozed butter and were packed full of sugary ingredients. Those ingredients did seem fresh and well sourced, however.

I had the S’morenana sandwich at a recent Civic Center food truck lunch and it was exactly what it said it was: nutella, bananas, graham cracker crumbs, marshmallow fluff and bread. I couldn’t finish the whole thing as it was A LOT but it was perfect as I’d been feeling somewhat sick and couldn’t handle the creamier/spicier food trucks that day.(But marshmallows are creamy, you might say. To you I say, whatever, this made sense at the time.) I don’t know if I’d return as, again, it was too much sandwich for me and kind of expensive even if it is fancy pb&j. I don’t know. They do have some delicious-smelling bacon.

Don’t get me wrong… I love a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich as much as anyone. And the novelty of various flavored PBJ sandwiches with banana, bacon, marshmallows, etc. is fun. Yet in the end, that’s just it – a novelty. On the one hand, my hat’s off to the company. They’ve found a way to charge $ 7 for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and make bank doing it. And sure, the sandwiches are tasty. But there’s nothing about them that is exactly groundbreaking. Anyone with a Panini grill and the various toppings is able to make the same sandwiches for a fraction of the cost at home. Then again, judging by the wait and the crowd that was gathered, this business is hardly hurting(as a side note, the owners were extremely pleasant). But in the end, this is simply a grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Nothing more.

OMG! If you see this truck stop and get something! I just had bites off of my friends Barcelona Sandwich and it was to die for. I would also like to try the Figgy Piggy if I get the chance(my friend did not like goat cheese). The Barcelona had Fig Jam, Almond Butter, Bacon, Manchego Cheese with carmelized onions… It was definitely a drool fest experience. Next time I will definitely be placing my own order. I now follow them on Facebook so I can find out where they are. Enjoy!

Here’s the funniest thing about me. I can not stand peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Like, hate them. I have all my life. I love them separately, but I have never been able to jump on board putting them together. …Until this food truck came and put it on a grill and made it the most ultimate goodness I’ve ever tasted. They make their own nut butters and jams, they don’t skimp on the fixin’s and they grill it all up. I love all of the savory ones equally, maybe the Thai just slightly more than the others, and the nutella is my fave sweet one. Seriously. Genius concept and follow through. Sometimes the service is a bit slow, and sometimes the truck breaks and they can’t get to where they were going, but truthfully, it’s worth the hassles. One other thing I love about them, they came out to support the 1st annual walk for the Blue Bench(Formerly RAAP) and gave out their goodies to all of us walkers. I absolutely loved that they will work with non-profits for a cause.

Ok so, conceptually I love Hey PB&J. Their sandwiches are delicious, and I’ve tried most of them(and others will sing their praises as well) the owners are friendly, the truck is a great shade of purple. what’s not to like? I guess I would feel so much better about HPBJ if I could ever actually EAT there. Take my most recent attempt for example – the wifey and I were running errands around town on a saturday morning a few weeks ago when the lunch bug bit. «We are out and about, what should we get?» «Oh, it says PBJ truck is at Highland farmers market, lets go there!» So, we shirk off our last errand so we have enough time to race across town and catch them before the end of the market(which ends at 1). We roll up around 12:15, and what do you know? They’re already packing up. «It was slow today, so we’re heading out». Bummer. I know I shouldn’t judge based on one experience, and I’m not. This has happened several times, and not just to me! If you try and track them down on any given day via their twitter or facebook, you’ll most likely just find a post about how they’re bailing on some event that day. I don’t know, maybe HBPJ is just a hobby. I for one would love to give them my money for their delicious sandwiches, I just wish I ever could.

Dear Hey PB& J, Finally we meet you. From your Maroon-Pink-ish Truck we see you… At the recent CIVICCENTEREATS2013. That visit was for Lunch, err in this scenario, DESSERT after Lunch… That afternoon was on Tuesday September 10th2013. 3.5 stars its the best, I could give them. S’more-nana which was $ 6.75, SWEET-DESSERT Sandwich. With peanut butter, bananas, cinnamon, nutella, original marshmallows fluff and graham cracker crumbles. Yes it looks huge for some, but I need to share it with my friend, it seems«doable», «potion-controlled» since I am already«stuffed» from my Lunch eats that afternoon. Its gooey, oozing with sweetness and messiness. I like it and my friend like it. Even my friend mentioned it, that she would definitely make this for her kids aka«stealing» the idea of Desserts. I just smiled. We don’t mind returning to find you Hey PB& J in the future in any part of Colorado Neighborhood. @200/2013

Hey PB&J were a welcome new addition to the Justice League of Street Food party yesterday. I had never heard of them before though they’ve been operating since May 2012. This is what happens when my food truck experiences are limited to JLSF and outside breweries. Garish in purple, they were offering Sweet and Savory/Spicy. They’ll tell you they make everything themselves except for the Nutella and orange marmalade. My friend and I narrowed our choices between the Blackberry-Jalapeño and the Thai. Then they mentioned ginger flavor in the Thai. Sold! This sandwich turned me into a promotion machine. Crunchy peanut butter, the orange flavor, the occasional strong bite of basil. So good. Another friend bought the Barcelona. Another let me sample their Peaches & Cream. Those peaches tasted ridiculously fresh. During the rain storm, I ordered the Blackberry-Jalapeño to eat in my car. They had said the jalapenos are spicy, but the blackberry and cream cheese mellowed it out. The peanut butter got lost in the shuffle on this sandwich. Overall, I like what this food truck is doing. The Thai and Peaches & Cream were my favorites because you could sense nearly every individual ingredient. In others, like the Barcelona, less stood out.

Currently craving the amazing Thai PB&J… Such a delicious combo of sweet and spicy and nutty and perfect Thai flavors! The owner(or guy in the truck) told me the Figgy Piggy is the best seller, so I was going to get that but he gave me a sample of the Thai and I was hooked! Soooo good. PB&J will never be the same.

I love food trucks. As in, I would go to food trucks every day if financially and physically possible. Luckily for my waistline and wallet, there isn’t one near my employer or home so when I see a food truck I kinda freak out. When walking up to the flagship REI Store a couple of weekends ago, I was anxious to see how many and what food trucks would be parked outside. HEYPB&J was the only one and when I saw their name, my eyes widened and I believe I may have started skipping towards the truck. I’m not even a huge peanut butter fan, there’s something nostalgic and comforting about the old school favorite. They have both savory and sweet with a few options featuring the hot gift from the gods – bacon! I got the Figgy Piggy with almond butter, fig jam, applewood bacon, rosemary honey ans *gasp* goat cheese. It’s a personal rule of mine that if I see an item with goat cheese on a menu, I have to order it. Figgy Piggy did not disappoint but it was so rich and savory that one half was enough to satisfy my needs, wants, hunger and everything in between. Next time I’m going to go the sweet route and get the Cookies and Cream. A Cookies and Cream sandwich??? I never! All in all, a great food truck to visit if you come across it along with a friendly man and woman working it. One sandwich is definitely enough for two people so you may want to share if you’re with someone else!

I can’t stop talking about this place. This is the second review I’ve written for it. I’m THAT obsessed! We got two sandwiches and they were both amazing. Great flavor, interesting ingredients/combinations. THAI sandwich — Great. If you only get one, try this one. FIGGYPIGGY — Also incredible. My wife told me it is mouthwatering. Hopefully going there again tomorrow.

I love this food truck. The sandwiches are delicious — I’ve tired the Figgy Piggy and the King and I can’t wait to try more. They are such a unique twist on the classic PB&J — definitely not for anyone who prefers plain food. If you’re the type to enjoy a lot of flavor, this is for you! Beware though — they are messy! I have always had amazing services — they are just genuinely nice people who seem to be loving their job.

Yum! This food truck came to a trivia event I attended and I am so glad! First, there is nothing«low-cal» there. It’s a huge, sinfully delicious pile of calories, carbs and sugar. But it’s delicious. I had the Pumpkin Pie — almond butter, pumpkin butter, honey and pie crust. It really was more of a dessert, and it was HUGE. But it was grilled perfectly(not too dark, not too little). It took a long time to eat because it was pretty sweet, but it wasn’t obnoxiously sweet. I’m looking forward to running into this food truck again!

Wow, this is not no ordinary PB&J sandwich! Nothing like those ones in your lunchbox. We, too, tried these at a recent Unilocal event. The couple who own it were so nice and friendly. The sandwiches are very crisp and grilled with a buttery flavor. The PB&J melts and blends with all the various flavors they are paired with. It is a grilled PB&J. There are many sandwiches to choose from. My favorite was the Nutella and Banana. All were good, but very, very filling and tasty. There were sweet and spicy too. Might be good to share a sandwich with a friend, but I have to say, I am still thinking about them. This truck would be great at a corporate event or any festival. Everyone will be talking about it as it is so interesting and yummy, yet decadent.

About a month ago, this truck passed me on Federal Blvd, and I proclaimed that I must try it. Luckily, I had the opportunity to sample most of the menu last weekend at the Denver Botanic Gardens. First of all, the sandwiches were FILLING. My three favorites were the Nutella Banana, Very Berry, and The King. Regarding The King(peanut butter, bacon honey, banana), Elvis would be proud! Unfortunately, I missed out on the Thai, but I hear that it was fantastic. Now I must seek the Hey PB&J truck and try it. TIP: Don’t Forget to Take a Wetnap. The sandwiches are good, but messy.

I sampled half the menu(all the Savory/Spicy items) at a recent event. I know it is almost a cliché these days, but everything(or almost everything) seems to be better with bacon. The Figgy Piggy(almond butter, homemade fig jam, goat cheese, applewood smoked bacon, rosemary honey) and Barcelona(almond butter, homemade date jam, manchego, applewood smoked bacon, sherry caramelized onions) are two excellent examples of this. I loved both of these sandwiches, but I give the edge to the Figgy Piggy. I think that the little bit of contrast provided by the tart goat cheese gave this sandwich a nice counterpoint in the flavor profile. However, the Barcelona was a harmony of rich and enjoyable flavors. The King(peanut butter, sliced bananas, clover honey, applewood smoked bacon) was very popular with my friends, and it easy to see why. Once again, bacon plays a large role. But the creaminess and sweetness of the the other ingredients make this sandwich fitting tribute to the dearly departed Elvis. The most unusual sandwich I tried would have to be the Thai(spicy peanut butter, orange marmalade, coconut, crushed peanuts, fresh basil). It may sound odd, but imagine that one of the best Asian spring rolls you have ever had has just received a makeover into a richly grilled(and just the right side of greasy) sandwich. This was a flavor sensation, and is a Vegan offering to boot. It was seriously woo-hoo.

I had a chance to sample some of Hey PB&J’s offerings at an event over the weekend, and I have to say that if I lived in Denver I just might stalk this truck … it has completely changed the way I think of nut butters. The most amazing sandwich, IMHO, was the Thai. I know, it just sounds wrong, but the combo of spicy peanut butter, marmalade, coconut, crushed peanuts, and basil really captured the spicy, sweet, salty and herbaceous balance of flavors that makes Thai food such a gustatory treat. Even their most basic take on the PB&J — the Very Berry, which includes peanut butter, a mixed berry jam, and fresh berries — was way better than anything I’ve ever made at home. The menu spans a nice selection of sweet and savory sandwiches, ranging from I think $ 6 — $ 7 … that may sound like a lot for PB&J, but these are large, filling sandwiches(I was feeling uncomfortably full after sampling the equivalent of between ½ and 2⁄3 of a full sandwich) and they don’t skimp on their ingredients. All of their nut butters are house-ground, fruit preserves are homemade, and other ingredients are piled on generously. In fact, I challenge you not to make a mess of yourself while eating these sandwiches(make sure you grab a couple of wet-wipes!) Look for fall seasonal offerings(e.g. pumpkin pie, caramel apple) starting next weekend.

Fantastic! The Hey PB& J truck made an appearance at the Unilocal Elite Mad Hatter Tea Party at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The food was FABULOUS and the man and woman running the truck were awesome and friendly. I sampled several different sandwiches. All of them are a twist on a PB and J, but gourmet and grilled! I recommend that if you go, take friends so you can sample each other’s dishes. The Barcelona: almond butter(house…er, truck… made), bacon, manchego cheese, jam(can’t remember which kind), and sauteed onions. Probably my second favorite. The King: standard Elvis fair. Peanut butter, honey, banana. Delicious. Thai: THE. BEST. PERIOD. Spicy peanut butter and I didn’t notice the rest I was so busy delighting in this sandwich. If you can only have one, make it this one. S’mores: Like it implies. Plus nutella. If you want one from the sweet selection, this is your guy. I can’t wait to find the Hey PB&J truck again around town!!!
