Eighty Ate catered my wedding reception in May 2014 and I am SO happy with them! We had 140 guests and the original intent was to call tables 3 at a time out to the food truck to keep the flow of guests coming slowly. Well that fell to the wayside, but Danielle and her team handled everything with grace and smiles on their faces. We opted for 4 sides(all were amazing) and 3 different sliders: Southern Caprese(amazing, my favorite), Hawaiian Pulled Pork, and the Bison Burger. My guests had nothing but RAVE reviews about every kind of slider. I heard several times that it was the best wedding food they had ever had! There was more than enough — no one left hungry. The service was delightful and fun. The planning process was easy and laid back; they were very responsive. I seriously can’t say enough good things about my experience with Eighty Ate. Not only were the food and service stellar, the price was fair and within our(small) budget. You know you want a food truck at your wedding or event. Do it!

A bride will always be the toughest judge of the food served on her wedding day. Eighty Ate catered my wedding reception this past weekend and the food was phenomenal. We had a gourmet slider bar with buffalo chicken, buffalo, and fried tomato veggie sliders. Eighty Ate also made homemade potato chips and a black bean salad that was delish. Not only was the food(sauces and condiments kicked some serious bum!) amazing but their attention to detail and coordination with our other reception vendors was fabulous. I had multiple people come up to me during the reception to tell me how great the food was! Although I am not a veg, I LOVED the fried tomato caprese slider the best! Balsalmic aioli, fresh basil and mozz made my day! It was damn good. Can’t wait to see where their truck turns up next cuz I will need me that crispy, burst-of-flavor tomato slider soon!

I wish Eighty Ate could be parking outside of Copper Kettle Brewing more than the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, but I’m excited even for that! I tried these guys for the first time while they were at CKB’s anniversary celebration, and it hit the spot. The Hawaiian Pulled Pork slider was solid — tender and tasty. But the Buffalo Pulled Chicken was the winner winner chicken dinner(pun intended, duh). Tender and loaded with buffalo sauce, both my roommate and I agreed that this was the perfect slider for a day of beer drink’n. The fact that it was pulled chicken allowed for maximum sauce coverage, which I very much appreciated. The sweet potato fries were also fantastic. Home cut and made, they vanished quite quickly. I see 88’s sliders at CKB in my near future.

This was my first time trying out this particular food truck, but it was a most delightful experience. While trying out the Irish Nitro Stout at Copper Kettle just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, Eighty Ate was at Copper Kettle with an Irish-themed menu. Carly B and I tried the Southern Caprese sliders, which come 2 to an order, with fried green tomatoes, a bun, roasted red bell peppers and a chipotle aioli. The orders took about 10 minutes and one of the servers/workers brought the food inside and served it to us, which was quite nice. I quite enjoyed the sliders and the longer I sat at Copper Kettle, I ended up placing a second order of fried pickles(dill spears), which were drizzled with a sauce, perhaps more of the aioli and it was positiviely yummy as well. I’d definitely go back, as the food and service were top notch.

Tasty slider truck. We first stumbled upon the Eighty Ate truck at the Art Crank show at TAXI late last summer. See, I got my dates wrong and thought Justice League of Street Food was doing their party that Saturday. Turns out the party was a Sunday. After some confusion(why aren’t there more food trucks? What are all these hipsters doing here? Why isn’t there a line out the door for this oh-so-cheap Widmer Brothers beer? What’s up with all of this bicycle art?) I realized we were a day early for the food truck party. Turns out it was to our benefit. We were able to procure some delicious Southern Caprese sliders and fried pickles AND didn’t have to stand in line AND we found a nice place to sit. Also, hipsters in jorts make for far less irritating food truck company than a bunch of suburbanites waiting in an hour long line for a biscuit while barely watching their screaming children. Oh right, I’m reviewing the truck. There’s a method to my madness. It turns out the Southern Caprese sliders were just as delicious as anything off of a JLSF truck(perhaps even more so) minus a line. The friendly food truck operators(I think they’re sisters, they look alike) informed us that it’s hard to get into the JLSF and they(as well as the other trucks at Art Crank) were too new/not established enough to get in. Their loss, our gain. The sliders are darn near perfect with a perfectly crispy fried tomato(in the summer it was green, earlier today it was red), a slab of fresh mozz, roasted red peppers, some kind of mayo/aioli, ribbons of basil, and a drizzle of balsamic. The buns are soft and buttery. The fried pickles(spears) stay crunchy even after a half hour or so. Since then, I’ve had their tasty tastes at Mile High Spirits and just this evening at Copper Kettle. While their somewhat-still-obscurity is my gain, their eats are annoyingly-crowded-food-truck-party-worthy.

I love these girls. They make some delicious sliders, although to be fair, I’ve only ever had the Southern Caprese. They make vegetarian food worth eating and I thank them because not every truck does. A lot of trucks just make something that the think vegetarians would like. Their sliders are good, vegetarian or not, meat eaters would eat this just because. Usually vegetarian options star cheese and that’s the flavor base, yes it does have cheese but a breaded, fried tomato and basil steal the show and the fresh mozzarella is an after thought to me. Fried pickles too!
