Expensive and bad service. Our server was very kind, but not present. We waited 50 minutes for a sandwich and a cheese plate(plus the sandwich came out before the appetizer) on a Tuesday night when there was one other table in the restaurant. The sandwich was average, not by any means a sandwich that should take more than 15 minutes to prepare, and the vegetables on the cheese plate tasted like dust($ 12 appetizer). The kombucha selection was a lot smaller than I would have hoped, and while it is very effervescent, it is incredibly sugary– almost like drinking sparkling cider. Can’t justify spending $ 4 a glass when there are no live cultures present in the drink. I really wanted to like this place, but after spending over an hour and a half eating an average meal when we were hoping for a healthy quick bite in 40 minutes, I don’t know if I would give this place a shot again.

So impressed by this new space, the staff and of course the kombucha. I would like to see the growler refill price come down but do like the punch card. You can now get Synergy large bottles at whole foods for a pretty low price, so while I would prefer to support HL, they should be aware of market prices for similar quality products. I have not eaten food there yet but love the menu selections and have already recommended this place to some colleagues and friends. Looking forward to spending a lot of time here!

Best food around – high quality ingredients! Lovely place to sit and work, or just hang out. Great indoor & outdoor seating. Excellent prices. Go for lunch, or dinner, or for top-notch weekend brunch. You’ll probably see me, because I eat there almost every day. I’m so excited to have Happy Leaf in Edgewater!

I was so excited to try out this place. I love kombucha & the healthy menu. I’m sad to say it was a huge disappointment with lack of service & I’d rather spend my money elsewhere. Although the server/manager was nice it took over 30 minutes to get 2 salads, despite him repeatedly promising they were on the way. I ended up getting them to go only to get home & find out the order was wrong. It was actually a bit comical. On top of that the other server with super long hair needs to put it up or in a net. Gross! They clearly have quite a few kinks to iron out… Btw, no apology provided… no thanks

Happy, happy, happiest. This place is the best! It’s tucked away in a neighborhood, but that makes it even cozier. You’ll definitely feel the neighborhood vibe. While the building looks a bit weathered from the outside, the inside is shiny new. I love the gorgeous wooden bar and all the tall tables and stools. Tons of natural light and vibrant blocks of color. Giant chalkboard wall with a hand drawn calendar of events and specials. The couple that owns Happy Leaf has been brewing Kombucha for over 4 years, and it’s so so delicious. They have rotating flavors on tap and you can buy a growler to fill up and take with you. My recent favorite: cranberry lavender. It’s tart and aromatic but not too sweet or flowery at all. Really bright and sharp. The plot next door will soon be a garden that Happy Leaf will use to source their produce from. They have an amazing menu of organic, seasonal options. Gorgeous sandwiches and velvety soups and house made pickles, jams, and breads. Sliders and cheese plates and hummus and fresh desserts. I enjoyed the cheese plate and the carrot ginger soup. Both were perfection, and their homemade seed crisp crackers are amazing(and gluten free). Fantastic options for most dietary needs. Attentive and sweet service. Free wifi and an upbeat, laid back atmosphere. Everything you need to be happy(leaf).

Love this place! The kombucha is good and the meatball sandwich was really delicious. Everyone is really nice, the server even surprised me by mixing my two favorite kombucha’s when I couldn’t make up my mind which one I wanted.

We got there right as they opened, so we were the only people in the place. My husband isn’t a huge kombucha fan, so enjoyed a flight of their 5 flavors on tap all to myself. The Cranberry Basil was my favorite and loved the uniqueness of the flavor combination. I left with a bottle of that and the Citra one as well.

Happy Leaf Kombucha… I have been wanting to try this restaurant and tap house for a long time! I was initially disappointed that there were not tons of kombucha flavor to choose from, there were only two along with quite a few ginger beers. Even though a little disappointed in the selection my friend and I ordered a flight, kombucha and ginger beer and what we tasted was amazing! The Giner beer is even fermented, giving it a really wonderful flavor! My new favorite kombucha is now lemongrass mint! I brought a growler of each for home! The atmosphere has a cool vibe, but in a warehouse area, it was cold inside, like can’t take your coat off cold! I think I would like sipping kombucha in the summer at this establishment, I will be back then. Although we did not try the food, it smelled wonderful, and the menu was interesting!

I’ve died and gone to fermented heaven. Pickles, kraut, kombucha… I’m not sure what else to ask for in this life. Thanks to Cherie C for pointing Happy Leaf out to me. Love you, dear! 1. If you’re a first timer, try a tasting flight and learn your favorite flavors. They change so if there’s one you love, you might want to pick up a growler to go. 2. If you are *really* hungry, I recommend a sandwich — the veggie/kraut combo is delicious, and their salads are light and flavorful. Note: the sliders will not fill you up, so if you order it, order something else too. 3. Kombucha sorbet? Delicious. 4. Pretty sure you get a discount when you get your growler refilled. 5. Art, art, art. Plenty of entertainment for the the eyeballs, plus cute bartenders.(Hi, Adrian!) Worth a visit and you won’t have a hangover afterward. One star deduction because I can’t seem to get out of there under $ 30.

Love this place! It’s known for serving craft kombocha drinks from their tap but the food is really good too. Located in an industrial part of town, it’s not much to look at from the exterior but inside it is hip and cute. A blend of all sorts of materials: concrete, refurbished woods, steel, mosaic tiles etc. You feel cooler just by being here. The service was excellent. A warm greeting right from the beginning and consistent, genuine service throughout the meal. My friend, Rica, and I did a sampler flight of all five kombucha drinks on tap($ 7 per flight): ginger beer, lemonade, hibiscus, lavender and white tiger(vanilla, licorice and cayenne pepper). We liked the hibiscus and lemonade best. We also shared the Spanish Kale salad and Spicy Italian sandwich which came with a side salad dressed in lemon vinaigrette. Everything was delicious. I especially liked the spicy dip that Chef Cody brought out to us to accompany the sandwich. Super yum!

I am in the process of trying to get ‘in’ to Kombucha. After some breweries, a friend wanted to stop in. We tried about 4 – 5 different drinks, and I have to say, this is some pretty good stuff! The server was extremely knowledgeable about their products, how its made, what goes into them. I also learned that Kombucha is good for the digestive system, which is pretty good! I want to come back and taste some of the food, as I hear its pretty delicious!

This is a great place to have close to home. You can get the kombucha all over town, but there’s a nice variety here. There are also other good local products like Teatulia, Boxcar Coffee, Elevation ketchup, deliciousness jams, and Real Dill pickles. The food is excellent. You can get a cheese plate, salads, sandwiches, and soups. Everything I’ve tried has been good. The krautwich was my favorite. Good bread, crunchy slaw, and hearty spreads make this a filling and tasty meal. As for kombucha, pomegranate rose is my favorite so far. And it makes a good sorbet too!

They don’t open till 11:30 on the weekend I think? Just be warned that they don’t lock the door so we wandered in before they open. Sorry but not my fault. Lock the door if you’re closed. Everyone was super nice to us though! A flight of Kombucha comes with every flavor! My favorite was the Cranberry Lavender. Soooooo delish. I bought a growler of it and will be returning. There is a food menu here. Didn’t try it but looked good and you can buy all your favorite local food stuffs here that you see at farmers markets.(Kimchi, bloody mary mix, pickles, jellies etc.) I hesitate to even tell you this but on Thursdays growler refills are 5.00!!! Instead of 8.00. I want to go back for their class and kit on making your own Kombucha. Such a fun place and so nice to be able to get freshly locally made Kombucha!

I’m not a person who will buy kombucha at the store but if I’m near fresh kombucha like at Happy Leaf, I can’t get enough! I’ve met the owners several times at different events and they couldn’t be any friendlier and are always down to offer samples. I finally got to check out the actual brewery thanks to a Living Social deal and an adventurous friend who was willing to check it out with me! We stopped in for lunch on Saturday and the location threw me off, super industrial and random next to some car places. They have parking in the front and a huge, light, clean space inside. Sit at a table or enjoy your time at the bar, they got it all. Plus they have art work for sale all around the brewery which I thought was a sweet nod to local mile high artists! We sat at the bar and the service was perfect. Helpful but not overbearing and gave us some time to look over the menu. We got a kombucha flight(cranberry lavender and mango rose were my faves!), culture board with pickled onions, daikon, ginger and sauerkraut and I got the Spanish kale salad while my friend got the Thai Butternut Squash soup(vegan fare). The Spanish kale salad was absolutely delightful and hearty. I love that they only have a few items on the menu and choose to focus more on the drink than food. It was a perfect experience, I can’t wait to come back and try more flavors!

Like several Unilocalers, I picked up the Living Social deal. However, mine expired.(wahn wahn) I was in the area and decided to pop in and use the value of the expired deal. Andthen I ran into some friends also using their Living Social deals. Heehee. I got a tasting flight and out of 5 of them, I definitely liked 3. The Salted Grapefruit still lingers in my mind. I decided to take home 2 bottles, which they do label on the top of the bottle now. I liked the space. It was pretty quiet and appears to be part of a collective of other businesses. It’s a large space and they did offer a couple of different soups, which was nice. This is a cool space. And I found that I liked kombucha.
