I’ve heard many good things about this restaurant from friends, and I have to agree with them! My eggs benedict(original) was perfect. The hollandaise sauce was so unique but perfectly complemented my dish. Instead of an English muffin they use challah bread, which I liked because the bread to other stuff ratio was more equal. The reason why I took stars off is because both me and my friend did not get the dishes we wanted. The whole reason why we came was so that my friend could eat the chicken & waffles, which she had heard so much about, but they said that they ran out.(We were sat around 12:30). I also wanted potatoes with my eggs benedict, which is a staple for breakfast in my opinion, and they later on told me that they ran out. Our dishes were good, yes, but we both left with that dissatisfied feeling of not getting what we came for. :/

The drinks are perfection and the portions are well sized. The chicken and waffles was beyond grand and the breakfast sandwich was huge. Had to save half.

This score is for their client service and value for the money. While I can appreciate the time it takes to make a latter, even those that tout that like Aviano or Novo are still faster than this team. To make a latter should not take 5 minutes each, and when I politely informed the baristas that I was in a bit of a rush after having already waited 15 minutes!!! He literally just poured the hot milk into the cup and by the way it was a cappuccino I ordered not a latter, foam not just the hot milk. And it spilled over the cup — clearly a lot of attitude as opposed to perhaps being understanding. This is a latter after all not art– not sure why he took this so seriously. By the way whole team back there, not one smile — all just dour faces and especially the barista. Finally value for the money. These are essentially the same price as Starbucks and took me a few years to justify spending $ 4 for a coffee, but this place you pay the same price for half the size of an equivalent Starbucks. Their small cappuccino is the same as the starbuck espresso cup. Honestly it wasn’t so much better to justify the price. In fact there are better out there. Too bad at least a positive experience I may be willing to come back despite prices but really life is too short to be somewhere where the energy is that bad. By the way I mentioned this to others in the neighborhood and they all say the same thing. Clearly though they don’t seem to care.

I know everyone loves this place but I was pretty disappointed with my Chai Latte. The presentation is great and what a great spot to sit and enjoy one. But it was very watered down. Kind of like water on the bottom, foam on top and sprinkled with chai mix. I love drinking chai everywhere I go so I’ve sampled a wide spectrum of chai and unfortunately, this one ranked pretty low. I also grabbed a Magic Bar and to my surprise was a little dry. I want to love you guys, perhaps I can dine in for food another time.

I love, love, LOVE coming to Devil’s Food. Their menu changes with the season and what grows best at that time. Today I had a chicken salad with grapefruit salad with grapefruit vinaigrette. It was amazing! I certainly plan on coming back as often as I can!

This place is a nice little place. I’d rate the coffee & pastries part of the operation at 5-stars, and the food portion at 3.5 stars. The service was pretty friendly, but the food portions were somewhat meager. However, that may just be a Denver thing. Chicagoans may just be gluttons. Regardless, a great neighborhood staple with a quality product.

When you walk in it looks like a coffee shop, you walk behind the counter to be seated. I know they are renovating a new place down the street, so at that point this post will become obsolete. The food was excellent. We all had breakfast for dinner paired with their cab sav which I loved. Three stars for atmosphere. It just didn’t FEEL nice to be in there. The décor was not inviting. And when a 12 $ glass of wine is on their cheap side, I just expect more comfortable seeking and a better vibe. Our waitress was fine, not great but fine. She seemed very distracted. I wouldn’t go back, if I’m going to spend 40 $ a person on a meal I expect a more satisfying experience.

The actual size of the restaurant is very comfy. Moreover, they baked fresh and delicious pastries. If you’re here to have a great coffee, you made it right! I can give my full support in this spot. I would like to request the waiters to give a sparkling smile when i get back. LOL

Lovely bakery and café in a cute neighborhood among several boutiques. We went at 1:30 for a late lunch and there was still an hour wait. Fine with us though. We ordered coffee and went to some of the stores. Definitely worth calling ahead though if you’re in a hurry. Our food was great! I ordered the scramble with white cheddar, jalapeños, and mushrooms and seasonal salad on the side. All of the ingredients were fresh and cooked perfectly. The seasonal side salad had fresh pear in it. Yummy! We also ordered the chicken and waffles. The gravy to syrup ratio was perfect. Loved the seasoning on the chicken as well. Our friend ordered the shrimp and grits. She wasn’t a huge fan of the dish because it tasted a lot like shakshuka, which wasn’t what she really wanted. Not bad if that’s what you’re craving though.

Came here at 8pm Saturday. The only customers besides us were a couple. This is a really cool place, you can either order some coffee and a pastry up front at the register and sit down or you can sit down for a meal. We came in and sat down for supper. I got chicken n waffles and my friends got biscuits n gravy. They gave us a basket of bread with some sweet butter. The bread rolls were warm and soft and seemed home-made. The food was amazing! My friends enjoyed my chicken n waffles much more than their biscuits n gravy. The waffles were soft, and the chicken was tender and juicy, it was all under a blanket of syrup and gravy with mushrooms, it might sound like an odd combination, but you will not regret this beautiful marriage of flavors!

Tasty breakfast spot with outstanding coffee. Their crab cake benedict is to write home about. We’ll be back. Deducted 1 star for burnt potatoes but it didn’t ruin our meal.

I’ve been here for coffee before(and pretty rich hot chocolate), but Sunday was the first I’ve been here for breakfast/brunch. And it was just ok. The wait was typical for a 9am Sunday arrival time(about 30⁄40 minutes)… I decided to order the bacon egg and white cheddar breakfast sandwich with breakfast potatoes, and my friend got the spinach and tomato eggs Benedict. Both were fairly bland. The breakfast potatoes were well seasoned and ciabatta bread toasted but the eggs lacked flavor, which, having eggs as the main sandwich ingredient, was disappointing. I might come back to give this place another go and order something else, but overall, I was hoping for something more flavorful. Maybe the good-looking pastries at the front will lure me back in.

Now this is a breakfast worth going to. Devil’s food is the perfect name. You walk in and are immediately greeted by the abundant & inviting pastries. The smells, the sights, and oh my the temptation of them all! I ordered the quinoa cakes with the poached egg, which was a wonderful summer breakfast entrée. It was interesting in flavor– lemony fresh, yet savory. They were served on a bed of greens and tomato sauce. On top of course was the poached egg, which I broke into and let the yolk run into everything else. The only problem was that I was hungry and could have had more. Maybe 2 eggs would have been better, one for each quinoa cake. Just asked for«coffee» despite the specialty French press options that I noticed after-the-fact. I got worried that it would be lousy diner-style coffee, but as it turns out it was delicious! They serve novo coffee. I decided that it was a good idea to then order a pastry, and the waitress recommended a cinnamon bun. It was serious looking. It was just ok. I honestly thought it would be nice if it was warmed, perhaps it would have been better. The frosting was the most delicious I’d say and the bun part could use some softening up(I found it to be a bit hard.) I did eyeball a huge chocolate croissant I’d love to get my mittens on while I was leaving. Maybe next time…

The good: Wow, I gave something 5 Stars! haha. The food was out-of-this-world, delicious! My partner and I split a cordon bleu sandwich and a grilled brie cheese sandwich.(This way we could both try half of each.) Both were amazingly delicious… literally amazing! The flavors melted in my mouth and worked very well together. We did ask for a spicy mustard to be used with the cordon bleu which actually was very enhancing to the flavors of that sandwich. I will be back as often as I can to try new things on the menu. The opportunity: The service was pretty slow and business was slow as well. I’m not sure why the service was so slow when the establishment was not busy. My partner found this place on his phone and having never been there before, told me to get ready to go somewhere new for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I’ve been by this place a thousand times but have never been in. The décor is simple… Perhaps too simple? My interior designer partner suggested they add large mirrors fitting the motif to one of the walls to reflect on the décor on the opposite wall. There are about 6 – 7 chandeliers which in total, had 9 bulbs burnt out. Each chandelier holds 6 bulbs which means 9 burned out bulbs would equal 1.5 entire burned out chandeliers in total. Oh, the wonders of math. The chandeliers should be lower in height btw.

There are so many coffee shops in Denver to chose from that the choice usually comes down to what neighborhood you want to spend your leisure time in. So, when in East Wash Park, you go here. It’s as simple as that. Now, don’t get discouraged by this seemingly restricted choice cause Devil’s Food has some great products to offer. I have not stayed here to enjoy the interior surroundings, so nothing to report on that or the internet quality. However, the cookie and the coffee I consumed with ferocity were fantastic. Kind of reminds me of that other place right across the park(*cough* Wash Perk *cough). No matter where you are, east, west or up a tree, you’ll want to make sure you make a visit.

Uh oh. I’m about to gain countless pounds from discovering this place. Hedgehog? Check. Homemade Oreo? Check. Cinnamon roll? Check. Chocolate croissant? Check. Chocolate Chip cookie? Check. Mexican Wedding Cake cookie? OMG check. Biscuits & gravy for brunch? I die and go to heaven — check check check. And, the funny part is that while this had been on my list for a while, it wasn’t until hubby brought home that Oreo(4 days ago), that we went back to try more. Yes, we’ve had all of that in 4 days. See previous note about forthcoming redonkulous weight gain. If you’re wanting brunch — I would suggest aiming for no later than 9:30. We got the last 4-top upon arrival, but after us — there was a line beginning to form that looked quite long by the time we left. The two gents had the fried chicken and waffles and ate every morsel. They used my potatoes to essentially lick their plates clean and mop up every last bit of gravy. It was THAT good. Yum yum in my tum tum. See you soon Devil’s Food!

Ridiculously great food, and when you reach the last phase of your meal it will suddenly dawn on you. .. whoa!. .. this delicious food I’ve just had was only a warm-up to what this place is famous for – their desserts. And you’ll be right. We started off with the corn and crab fritter accompanied by a bottle of their Pinot Gris and it was one of the best hors d’oeuvres we’ve ever shared. Followed that up with the intensely flavorful shrimp and grits and ratatouille served en croute for entrees. Each was a special treat. But the ending – the deconstructed chocolate pot d’crème s’more – really was slap yourself silly wonderful. The price is well below what you’d pay at some of the more high-end eateries in town, but absolutely just as good. The atmosphere is informal and bakery-like. Our server, Taylor, was a great guy and the perfect guide for our meal. DFBC is well-deservedly popular for breakfast and brunch, but because it hasn’t been that long that they’ve been serving dinner the place had empty tables when we stopped in late on a Friday evening. It shouldn’t be. This place should have a line out the door all the time. It’s that good. So add it to your list of places to hit up. You really are gonna love it. Visited 8~6~15 Thursday Morning So I was near the neighborhood and just had great news after going to Body Fat USA. woohoo, I felt I deserved to treat my self to some good food! I was looking for a hearty breakfast place since not many places were open around 815am. I hit up the Protein bar to get my health shake and salad egg white bowl, but wanted something hearty. Unilocal help me out and it was 6 minutes from where I was. I decided to eat in and then get a T/Out and some pastries after. The place was busy and if you want to chat & hear your conversations you’d have to talk loud, but I would avoid this though. There isn’t privacy and it’s a bit noisy and echos of conversations from everyone sounds muffled. I had a hard time hearing my server and he was right next to me. The menu is a bit dark so if you have bad eye sight or use reading glasses, you’ll need them here. They only have raw sugar and honey, so if your like using splenda or stevia in your tea like myself, BYOwn. It’s a bit dark in the back but tables are spaced out good, but if you have back problems, then this is a no go for you. The front bakery is nice and pastries are out on the counter which look fantastic and my favorite part is no Freaken Flies around. Always a ++ since Colorado seems to be in an abundance of them during summer times. My waiter was ok, not nice nor rude, but rather more serious and cordial, pretty going through the motions of a robotic waiter. Now the girl helping him was smiley and warm and the manager brought my food to the table was friendly as well I felt. So here’s the break down: Jasmine green tea — meh. should’ve brought my own, but the flower bloom in the tea pot was nice. Didn’t have much flavor and I steeped it a while, but it did smell nice and subtle. Not worth $ 3 that’s for sure. Shrimp & Grits — Not your Luke’s in NOLA(New Orleans, LA), but actually pretty delicious. Now was it worth hmmm. the $ 16, No but it was good. Not as big as I was told it would be, but enough for a 1 person. Side Bacon & Sausage — So shrimp alone is not meaty enough for me and I knew I wouldn’t get more than 5 or 6 pieces, so I got 2 side orders of meet. Bacon was well ok and thin, nothing gourmet, but sausage was good and worth me getting. Fried Chick & Waffel — Now this was WORTH the $ 15 even though the portion is probably the smallest meal wise I’ve got, but the for the chicken not being on the bone and more like a chicken tender it was good, the waffle was like Ihop’s which isn’t bad, but not gourmet like I expected this place to have. Now what made this Worth it was the GRAVY!!! Oh MYGOD! It was really REALLY good! I dipped my chick in it I dipped the waffle in it and I Liked the container that it was in. I got this to go and I wished got another one! If that’s the gravy they use for Biscuit’s and Gravy, I will be in Heaven the next time! It’s that dang good! 4 Pastries from the front for $ 12. The carrot walnut muffin was nice and tasty, and so was the apple cinn. walnut. Really good. I also did like the almond croiss. it actually had a good amount filling unlike other bakery’s.The potato chive pocket that looked like and Empanada was not good and tasted like a deflated Knish, Only pastry not worth the price. All and all I like this place because as long as you have that one dish I remember and can dream about, then I’m yours. I’ll probably hit this place up again when I get my bodyfat test next month, since I’ll be All the way down on this side, but will I come from Broomfield just for this place. Not really unless I’m CRAVING that Gravy. It’s a good place to try at least once.

I’ve never been disappointed at Devils food. I will say that this restaurant is overlooked for dinner, as most people focus on brunch for Devils. But, it’s such a cute and fantastic place for dinner! The setting is intimate, so probably not great for large groups. The service is great and the food is delicious. We got the quinoa salad with salmon and chicken pot pie. It was the best pot pie I’ve had in a while. My only complaint would be that the pie was a little salty. My friend loved her salad, and found it to be fresh and filling. Our drinks were strong and refreshing as well. I love Devils food, and would come back again and again.

Fun little spot for brunch. I like coming here every once in a while to see their fun décor and drool over their baked goods while waiting for a table. At the front of the restaurant they have a little café and bakery where you can stop by to grab a quick breakfast on the go. Have yet to try any of them cause I always forget until I’m actually there and already planning on having a sit down breakfast. They also have a little stand with local jams, local honeys, and other knick-knacks. The drip coffee here is alright. It’s got a bit of a sour taste to it, which I don’t really dig in coffee. The wait staff is very attentive and I’ve always had the nicest waiters serve me. Have yet to meet one who hasn’t been cheery. Eric was our server today and he was awesome and helped me work through my indecision on what to get. Thanks for the recommendation! I got the crab cake Benedict without the arugula and it was DELICIOUS! The benedicts come on challah instead of a traditional English muffin. I really enjoyed it on my specific Benedict, but not too sure how I would like it on an original Benedict. My partner got the quiche and he said he loved it as well! The quiche changes daily I believe. Great place for brunch for friends, dates, and for visitors.

This is a Wash Park gem. A small group of us came here for breakfast to find an hour and forty-five minute wait in front of us. We put our name on the list and bought some pastries to tide us over. The apricot/brie empanada was sublime and the best of the bunch. We also tried the ham and cheese croissant, peanut butter/chocolate rice krispie(it was called something else), cherry danish and a lemon meringue. The only stinker was the lemon meringue and tasted so funky I left it at the table when we later sat down. We wandered around the neighborhood/shops on the same street and my cousin checked on our table status. She was told 30 minutes to go. We showed up 30 minutes later only to find out that they had called our name(we had been outside for about ten minutes) 15 minutes earlier and gave our table away. Super frustrating and I would suggest they take phone numbers to call people when tables are ready. If we hadn’t been so hungry we probably would have walked out. A table was made ready for us within five minutes though and we were seated. I ordered the quinoa cakes with poached egg, the hubs got the chicken breakfast tacos, my cousin ordered the chicken and waffles, her daughter got the french toast and my aunt got an omelet. Overall the food was good, however, I think the real talent lies in the baked goods that we sampled. We would come back for to go items for sure.

We went here on Easter, I believe a wait is expected at this place because it is very popular. The décor inside is very homely and cozy. They also sell a lot of local brands available for purchase after you eat. I had a french press and ginger champagne for my beverage. Soooooooo good. I spilt the chicken and waffles with my boyfriend and it was still a large portion. I can’t stress enough how good this meal was. The chicken had a great crunchy breading and the egg was cooked just right. Before we left I brought a confetti cookie. Very tasty! I recommended the chicken and waffles and you won’t be disappointed! The service was a lot very good as our waiter was very quick and helpful.

They have a great selection of food(breakfast/brunch food all day long!) and tasty baked goods and coffee. You can come here to just order and grab food to go(like a typical café) or sit down and eat. On Sunday it is generally really packed(at least an hour wait), and unfortunately they do not take reservations. I highly recommend any of their Benedict dishes, fried chicken and waffles and monte cristo sandwich. The jam that comes with the side of potatoes is AMAZING.
