This whitefish dinner rocks! I used to drive all the way to the Cracker Barrel in Northglenn for fried whitefish. Now I get a HUGE, perfectly breaded fillet that never fits in the container, a baked potato with butter and sour cream and a salad for like, $ 5.99. The young male manager is on his game. The waitstaff, especially MISSGLORIA treats you like family(that actually likes you). Twice a week they have Senior Specials(a long list!) for like, $ 4.50. Now my mom is hooked on their super fresh fish.

Wife loves this place. The wait staff is usually nice. This time we went in the drive through. It took a long time. I reckon it’s worth it.

Food was Ok considering it’s fast good… fish was really good but fried shrimp were cooked to death. Service was awesome. .had a dinning room staffer who was singing. Refilled drinks even got our condiments for us defiantly made up for food quality which reallt was not bad at all but still fast food. will return again and recommend

I didn’t expect too much from a fast seafood joint as previous experiences with LJS have been horrible, but this place blew the cod out of the water. The big fish sandwich was surprisingly tasty. Probably not the best for you, but at $ 3.50 for 2 fried cod fillets between a buttery and toasty bun with some tartar sauce washed down with a crisp soda… Damn.

HORRIBLE Service. Third time We have come here, third time We have sat in the drive through only to be told that the monitor and headsets are broken. Only to see the drive through person putting on the headset when the cook told her that there was someone in the drive through. If this wasn’t that ONLY flippin Captain D’s in this area, my wife would def not be coming back. The cook is actually helping us right now instead of who should be. Pathetic, just plain pathetic.

My husband and I grew up in the 60’s when Long John Silvers came on the scene. We remember the delicious seafood dishes and yummy sides and lines out the door. Now, like many folks, we watch our diets a little more closely. However, Captain D’s is our guilty pleasure. We love it! We just wish we had one closer but, we enjoy it when we are in Denver. There is a place for a restaurant like this!

While to start off I haven’t been here in years but I used to love it so I stopped however it wasn’t the best choice everything’s definitely it deep fried nothing tasted like it used to … the coleslaw had a lot of onion I think the oil was old for my French fries and my shrimp was overcooked yikes

Tastes just like Long John Silvers. Yuck. It was super greasy and it had too much breading. By the end of my meal I had a huge pile of breading left… and I regretted eating any of it. I definitely don’t recommend this place if you’re in the mood for fish n chips.

Captain D’s is a seafood fast food franchise that started in Tennessee 40 years ago. I live too close to here for me not to try this place at least once. I wish I could say the D in Captain D stood for Delicious but I think Captain O for OK would be more appropriate. I tried the combination platter for under $ 9. It came with fried chicken, battered and fried fish, french fries, hush puppies, and some breaded shrimp. Can you say high cholesterol? I thought the fries were dry but the shrimp and the hush puppies were enjoyable. I didn’t care for the chicken because it lacked flavor. There were definitely a lot of fried breaded crumbs in my plate. I was disappointed to see that their tartar sauce was not fresh and that they gave such a limited supply of it. I ran out of tartar sauce to eat with my items. They offer desserts too which I couldn’t get myself to order because they sounded terribly bad for you and I had already chosen something so unhealthy as a main dish. They have cheesecake bites, pineapple cream cheese pie and chocolate cake. They all sound overwhelmingly too sweet. They have a drive-thru which is convenient and fast.

Came here to try the place out, portions are a good size for the price. Cost less than Long John Silver, bigger portion, and tastes better. The fries are delicious. The hush puppies to me were ok but then again I don’t usually eat hush puppies so I have nothing to compare it to. The fish size was filling, crispy, and flavorful. If your in the mood for fish and chips and hungry try this place out.

This just in: fried fast food is probably not good for you. But spending $ 3.23 for two(fairly large) pieces of fish, fries and hush puppies is good for your wallet. Much better than any other fast food fish place. I used to visit this place in my swingin’ bachelor days of about 10 years ago, so I was pleased to see that it was still open. I don’t plan on making it a regular dietary staple(okay, wait a few months and see if I’ve evolved into a «regular» via Unilocal check-ins), but it’s perfectly acceptable fast seafood; when you’re craving that sort of thing.

It is fast food but it is good fast food. Do not expect Red Lobster or J Anthony’s because it isn’t. Do expect better than Long John Silver. They have an employee named Gloria. She is great. I love her service and she is the reason why we keep going back. The rest of the lazy loafers working there can learn a thing or two from her. When they yell at her it makes me want to dump their faces in the fryer. Overall, the food is greasy and the tea is sweet. What else do you need?

It’s an upgrade from Long John Silvers! The fried catfish here is good! That’s all I really order from here along with a side of fries because truth be told, that’s all you really need! It’s difficult to procure some fried catfish without having to go dine in at a restaurant so Captain D’s is local, fast, and convenient. The KFC of seafood! Not really a fan of their hush puppies however, I find them way too dry at times…

I want to agree with the last review, Gloria is a true gem. She has a great memory walked up to my wife and I last night saying she had not seen us in awhile, hoped we were feeling well, refilling drinks, taking food from the kitchen, etc .The kid on the cash register however… his feet must have been glued to one spot. His lungs worked fine, yelling Gloria through the resturant, he never once moved, like his wallet was in that register. Food was OK, nothing special, but Gloria makes it all worthwhile

My family and I dropped in after a day of car shopping and decided to have some fish. It was the typical fried fish and hush puppies type of meal. But what stood out was the service. The restaurant has an employee named Gloria that had to be one the nicest person I ever met. She refilled everyone’s drinks, cleared their tables, and did it while having fun conversation with everyone who came in the door. The food wasn’t the best I had ever eaten, but Gloria’s great attitude makes me want to go back.

I like the $ 2 fish deal on Tuesdays, but I haven’t seen a sign about it for a few weeks now so I don’t know if they still do it. But it is so good… greasy and good lol.

From the outside this place looks like a low rent Red Lobster. However, while this is a fast food place, it is actually a lot better than I expected. They do have cheaper meals, but I got one of the«premium» plates. I got the ultimate sampler, which was two fried fish, two chicken strips, two hushpuppies, four shrimp, and two crab cakes. With Fries and cole slaw and a drink it came to a little under $ 11 total(Large drink is about $ 2). These prices are comparable to Long John Silvers. It was a good deal of food for $ 9. Thats what you’d pay for a foot long meal at Subway. But the food is better than Long John Silvers. The chicken strips were surprisingly good, as was the fish. The food in general is not as greasy as Long John Silvers or Red Lobster’s. The chicken and fish were done well. The Crab cakes are baked inside Dungeoness crab shells(about 4 inches or so), and were very good. Probably the best part of the meal. I like the shrimp better than Long John Silver’s(again, not as greasy). They were breaded instead of tempura’d or whatever LJS does. The fries and cole slaw were forgettable, but not awful. The place was surprisingly clean, and the staff was polite. The dining room had lots of booths and was spotless. Bathrooms were clean and well kept up as well. This isnt the best seafood I’ve had in Denver, but it is definitely best seafood that is *fast food*. Frankly, in a lot of ways the food was better than Red Lobster too, and far cheaper.

I can’t believe I’m the best rating for the place, it really is not that bad. It’s fried fish in Colorado, what are you expecting? I grew up on the gulf coast and expecting fish here in Colorado to be that fresh is just silly. The hush puppies are good, and the fries are some of the best in Denver. I absolutely love the fries here, but you’ve got to eat them pretty soon after getting them. It’s fried, you know that going into it, so I don’t really understand the complaints. This isn’t the best place in Denver, not even the best seafood, but it’s good and fast and reasonably priced.
