This restaurant appears to be out of business. I have not seen any ads for it, nor received any post cards or any e-mails from them In 6 – 7 weeks. Does anyone else have any further info ? Later in the day I open up a local paper and I see this ad on the top right that says. BEOURGUESTFORDINNER. A touch of Denmark I continue reading. in the middle it says Thank you Mogen Moller Chef Owner. So I call up an ask for an invitation and while I am on the phone I ask about Out of Denmark since Mogen Moller is Jorgen Moller’s brother and I am told that Jorgen Moller is ill and was forced to close Out of Denmark about 3 weeks ago– very unlikely that it will re– open. Too bad — very disappointing !! That family doesn’t have any luck. First his wife was ill for 6 years and died and now he is ill. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings !!

Extraordinary, somewhat eccentric«Jewish» Danish restaurant serving remarkable dishes. A stained glass Jewish star of David is lit up in the corner, a reminder of the owners Danish Jewish heritage. Alex, our waiter clearly enhanced our dining experience. Our experience with the service and the food rated 5 stars. My overall rating would have been 5 stars if it were not for the fact that a 20% gratuity is automatically included with the bill even though there were only four of us at the table. Food preparation was exceptional, particularly, because it started with the Koldt Bord which is presented as a multilayered pyramid of forspeizers. which included pickled North Sea herring on the top served with red onion and capers, curried chicken pieces, small beet slices, a spinach dip, etc. The dinner at $ 29.95 also included a Caesar salad or a carrot bisque. I chose the latter and it was just wonderful. For my entrée I had elected the Wienerschnitzel which was clearly 5 stars;however, just be warned that it includes some anchovies on top of an unusually wonderful well flavored breading. MY wife enjoyed a meaty crisp duck. The portions were generous. If you are a chocolate lover, go for the chocolate cake,. The coffee was prepared individually and likewise was exceptional. Aside from a slightly noisy crowd, no doubt«Out of Denmark» provides one of the best dining experiences in southern Florida for the money… Yes, the restaurant must have had its flaws since there are so many mediocre reviews… but this reviewer must adamantly say that these negative reviews do not reflect my wonderful experience. I look forward to returning with gusto… Jogen don’t change a thing. You’ve created a one-of-a-kind dining experience.

I promised I would RHYME, I can’t go here ALLTHETIME (Need to knock off a little pounds hehe) Only authentic Danish restaurant in our beach town. Some entrees are great and some not so great. We had one that was on special off the menu rare occurance. Really liked. However, don’t recall what it’s called so can’t ask for it again. Darn! The best thing they have going is the multi level appetizer. That is their best item!

Spending 3 ½ hours for dinner is a tad too much. The Brisket was burned so that was off the menu. The Duck was excellent, The Rainbow Trout had absolutely no flavor. Service was poor and the entrees took 40 minutes to come out of the kitchen. Our plates remained on the table for 40 minutes until they were finally removed. I asked the waitress why we waited so long for everything and she asked me to come speak to the manager. Why HE didn’t get off his ass and come to me was something else. He didn’t care that our evening was long and the service was poor and offered us a ½ a loaf of bread to take home… How nice. We have been here several times but will NEVER come back.

Every customer be aware and do not eat here. The staff is very unprofessional. Head waitress that wears dirty jeans and chef jacket Kate Bullies and curses not just at employees but customers. The 10 course dinner is a joke. That appetizer tower comes from reconciling of the left over food from other towers as does the butter and croutons from uneaten bread left on diners plates. I worked there for 2 weeks and never expieranced such things. I wouldn’t feed that to my dog. Also the lobsters. Your paying for lobsters that were boiled during day then just reheated in boiling water before being served also I have encountered a few roaches. Do urself a favor and dine elsewhere. The place is run like a shit show and unprofessional !!!

Went to out of Denmark tonight. The service was terrible. We were ignored most of the night. They added 20% service. I assume they did that because no one would tip for the bad service we received. The food was mediocre and the bill was over $ 80 for 2 with no drinks. We will never go back!

Service was very slow, ordered wine got two wine glasses at first had to wait crazy amount of time for third glass. Noisy. Tower was good and lobster was good but service out weighed the food. Sad. Very sad

They must pack sardines in Denmark. And apparently in Denmark they don’t accept credit cards and they add 20 percent to the prices for service gratuity. When ordering we were told all in our party needed to order off the«summer» menu or the«special» prices of $ 25 for the 2 pound lobster would be $ 35. Only one choice of salad which must come from Denmark and be very precious. The special $ 25 requires each person order a beverage. Utensils must not be used in Norway as it took several requests to get forks and knives. Food was OK. REDLOBSTER has more ambience and better biscuits. We did not stay for dessert or coffee and paid our $ 100 per couple in cash. Clientele all overweight senior citizens many having spent big $$$ on face lifts. And I suppose like in Denmark all the guests were white. Our 7:30 reservation had us seated at 7:50. Won’t be back but the crowds indicated they don’t need us. Oh, forgot, with our lobster was served ½ ear of corn. Extremely loud which reflects the clientele. We couldn’t wait to get out of Denmark.

I was standing outside of Out of Denmark one morning and looking at the menu/reviews. Anything about Europe interests me. I was just passing the time while my bike was being repaired at Bicycle Lab. A guy in his late 20’s or 30’s came up and we started talking. He told me that he ate some type of fish in parchment the night before. The fish was not properly cooked and he had developed food poisoning! He was on his way to his doctor but wanted to stop there 1st and inform their management, On a different note, I looked at the menu briefly. This is an expensive restaurant. If you want to ignore the reviews below and dine there, hope you are feeling pretty flush with cash!

Went for their summer $ 23.952 pound lobster dinner. Lobster, Cesar Salad or Soup, Corn and Potato. Service was attentive prompt and knowledgeable. Warm tasty bread came promptly. Food was excellent. 4 stars instead of 5 because their ad did not mention that you had to buy a drink to get the $ 23,95 price for the dinner. But coffee counts and the coffee was reasonable restaurant priced. and we would have had coffee anyway so 4.75 stars. The deserts were beautiful but there was to much food and we were all full.

Out of Denmark equals out of this world! This was our first visit and since it was Father’s Day and very, very crowded, I am pleased to say that they did an incredible job… The food and the service exceeded my expectations. Our server, James deserves special mention because even though he was really busy serving many tables, he saw to our every need. The Koldt Bord appetizer is not to be missed. It is a combination of 6 different appetizers served Danish style. One was perfect for 4 people. We had their lobster special for a main course but both the duck and lamb chops looked equally amazing. Dinners come with a choice of soup or salad. The ambiance is beautiful although the tables are a bit close for real comfort which is the only reason it didn’t get 5 stars. I cannot wait to return again. It lives up to all the good reviews that I have read.

Well it’s a different type of restaurant for the area. Great apps! Curried chicken, beets, gravaloxs, creamed spinach and more. Great soup or Cesar salad and it comes at no extra charge with every entrée. Duck was good but stay away from snapper. Schnitzel was good. Service was attentive but lacked experience. Décor was, well, a bit odd. Some said nice others tacky. You decide.

This place was super sufficient and the service along with quality of food was amazing. Tonight was valentines evening and the Resturant had a lot of people but the waiters were on point and the quality of food was kept up. Definitely recommended this place due to its variety and elegance. Price may be variable depending on the person who goes and what you want to spend but I feel it was worth it.

Amateurish poorly trained wait staff — never told us specials before ordering. The table never reset with silverware after appetizers. Our main courses were served and got cold waiting for waitress to deliver knives and forks. Previous reviewers comments about tables intruding — rubbing elbows with adjacent tables a better description. Cold board appetizer is good. Sweetbreads were poorly sautéed(rare ugg) bland and tastesless, no sauce. Presentation(a spoonful of everything in the kitchen) plate absurdly overloaded with stewed tomato, carrots, string beans, spinach and mashed potatoes. A gloppy awful mess. Other dishes were mediocrity personified-A watery boulliabaise was tasteless. And, the over cooked rack of lamb like eating a piece of lead. Would have sent every back but show time was 9pm. Arrived at 6:30 and were not served main course until 8:00. Built in 20% tip ?? For this performance, it’s thievery. Asked the owner — Marcus Samuelsson has nothing to do with –no connection with this place. He’d put a gun to his head before associating himself with this place

The service and food was excellent. We had a reservation for 5pm so we could order the Sunset Menu. With this you get a glass of wine and dessert and coffee. They start by delivering warm bread to your table with homemade whipped butter with herbs… yummy! You have to make sure you don’t fill up on bread because then they send over the KOLDTBORD(traditional Danish appetizers). It is a three tiered tray of devil eggs topped with caviar, salmon on crackers, herring, cucumbers with dill, curried chicken and apples, and spinach dip. The next course is Cesar salad or soup. I chose the creamy carrot soup. This was very good and had a hint of ginger. For my entrée, I had the brisket with cabbage, potato pancake, tomato topped with sweet potato, mashed potatoes, and green beans/carrots. It was a lot of food! The meet was very tender and had a mushroom gravy to top it off. The pancake had onion and was flavorful. They serve it with a side of horseradish and sour cream. As part of the sunset menu you get a dessert for the table… choice of Danish cream cake, chocolate layer cake, or rice pudding. We chose the Danish cream cake. It was 6 inches tall of yellow cake layered with a delicious yellow cream and topped with whipped cream and a raspberry sauce. The meal was 5 star along with the service. I will definitely return to try other items on the menu. There is free parking in the lot attached to the restaurant. If you need to wait for your table they have complimentary wine and hummus/crackers for you to enjoy. The hostess checked on us throughout the meal and one of the chefs personally delivered one of our entrees. These personal touches add to the dining experience.

I love this restaurant. I’ve only been there once, but it was love at first bite. I can’t think of anything I didn’t like. Starched white tablecloths, linen napkins, a glass of wine served in a little carafe, added to the special ambiance. The restaurant was beautiful, so unexpected since it’s located in a strip mall on Federal Highway. The service was excellent. We started with warm crusty bread which was served with herb butter. i couldn’t stop eating it. So good. Next came the appetizers. There were eight appetizers served on a three tiered tray. Grav lax which is fresh salmon, deviled egg sprinkled with caviar, pickled herring which was in a sweet sauce, chicken salad, spinach blue cheese dip, mushrooms in a light sauce, beets, and cucumber salad. I’ve never been a big fan of beets, but these were delicious. Next came a choice of soup or Caesar salad. I got the soup which was bean. It was good and hearty. For my entrée I ordered chicken raspberry. The chicken was perfectly cooked, slightly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The sauce was slightly sweet and fruity and added to the flavor of the dish. There was asparagus, green beans, mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and a stuffed tomato on the plate. All delicious. My husband ordered the special which was a fillet Mignon. He said it was tender and perfectly cooked. Since we got there in time for the early bird, before 5:15PM, our dinners came with a beer or wine, coffee or tea, and a dessert to share. I got white wine which was served in a small carafe. My husband had a beer. For dessert we choose the seven layer Danish custard raspberry cake. It was a large piece of cake that melted in our mouths. If you go for the early bird you must pay with cash or a check. The entrees run between $ 25 to $ 44. Not cheap, but they come with all the appetizers plus soup or Caesar salad. A 20% tip is added to your bill. Since this is a small restaurant it would be a good idea to call for a reservation before heading out.

I used to fly Continental allll the time, and would end up reading the free magazine. For whatever reason, paid promotion or not, there was almost always an article about Out of Denmark. Since my father is half Danish, I vowed to one day take him and let him experience a little bit of his childhood foods again… that being said, he grew up in Malaysia/Borneo and ate a lot more Asian foods than Danish foods, but still — it seemed like the nice daughter thing to do. So, to celebrate my father’s birthday this year I chose Out of Denmark — I made a reservation in advance — thankfully so, as the place was packed when we arrived at 7:45pm on a Wednesday night. We definitely we’re some of the youngest people in there, and seemed to stick out like sore thumbs since everyone else stared at us… I guess everyone else were regulars. Also keep in mind that we were the last ones in the restaurant at 9:15pm. The staff had no issues with that, and were not trying to rush us out the door at all which was nice, but don’t plan on coming here for a late night meal. So food… actually let me start with wine. We tried to order a bottle of Pinot Noir, their wine list is acceptably sized and priced, but they were out of the bottle we wanted. They offered a replacement Merlot which we happily agreed to. Out of Denmark does not have a liquor license, either because they just moved, or because they don’t plan on getting one, so be prepared for wine or beer. Ok now food… I tried to order the Daily Fish special, they were out of it. I tried to order the Snapper, they were out of it… so I noticed a trend of things they don’t have –moral of the story don’t come here expecting to get what you want and be open to other dishes. The way the menu is set up, you choose an entrée and receive a koldt bord for the table, and a soup or salad already built into the price — that makes things pretty affordable at about $ 30 a head! We selected our entrees and out came the koldt bord. Everything on here was delicious… I really can’t pick a favorite they were all so good, and my father felt everything was pretty authentic. There is an option to just get the koldt bord without an entrée for $ 17 and I’d definitely go this route in the future. Next up, the soups and salad. Some of us got Caesar salad, and some got carrot bisque. The soup was great and the presentation was beautiful. The Caesar salad wasn’t anything too special, but it wasn’t as awful as many I’ve had. As far as entrees go, I ended up with the duck after none of the fish dishes I wanted were available. To be honest it wasn’t my favorite, but I think that’s a personal issue with not liking European food that much. The bf had veal oscar, and he loved it. I have to say though that the tongue was excellent. Some of the tenderest tongue I’ve ever eaten. My brother had the liver, I wasn’t a fan either, but he enjoyed it. Desserts came out next, they put a candle in the Danish Layer cake and sang which was nice, and we also got to try the rice pudding. The cake was good, but the rice pudding was amazing! Some of the best I’ve ever had. In the end, again we were there«late» they brought out the left over 2 loaves of bread that the chef had made that morning and wrapped them up for us to go. I was impressed with the service and the way that they made us feel right at home. In fact, the next day someone called me to follow up that we had a fantastic evening — never had that happen before!

I always enjoyed the old Out of Denmark restaurant so I was thrilled to see that they are back again in a new location in Delray Beach. I knew right away what I was going to have, the roast duck with sweet and sour red cabbage and berry sauce. Unfortunately my hopes on that dish were dashed because when I arrived they had run out of duck. Boo Hoo! But, I wasn’t disappointed for long since the new restaurant is outstanding in elegant design, décor, and faultless friendly service. You can’t help but feel good just being there. Though their menu is comprised of basically traditional Danish dishes, they are much like you’ll find in the City of Copenhagen today, being somewhat of a melting pot of various Scandinavian, Norwegian, Swedish, German and other nearby regional dishes such as Gravlax, Weinerschnitzel, Veal Oscar, Swedish Veal Loaf, Beef with Béarnaise & etc. Included with their entrée I was served their«Kolt Bord» which was and incredible four tiers of eight appetizers. On top was a Danish cracker with Gravlax and a traditional Danish deviled egg with caviar, then following downward, a most delicious tomato and wine pickled herring with red onion and caper, a chicken in Madras Curry with apple, celery and walnut, a «Chicago» spinach with Danish Blue Cheese, a dish of marinated mushrooms in a mustard and thyme, a dish of delicate small pickled beets, then a cucumber salad coated with a fresh dill along with a clear sweet and sour dressing sauce; all very impressive. I followed with a Caesar salad which was traditional with a crisp Romaine and I am certain an egg based dressing. For my main entrée, since they were out of the duck but at the waiters recommendation, the Wienerschnitzel which was herb encrusted, sautéed with lemon having added anchovies and horseradish. I’ve had a lot of Wienerschnitzel in Germany, Denmark, the United States and elsewhere and unfortunately I can’t say this was one of the better of the schnitzels I’ve had; certainly tasty enough but somewhat limp and oily. One thing that struck me with a degree of humor was that the first glass of wine I ordered speaking in English came out with a rather miserly pour to it but the second glass I ordered, speaking in Swedish which was clearly understood, came out nearly full, more than compensating for the less than half filled first glass. Of course this gets me thinking that maybe it might be my lack of Spanish speaking skills that relate to my less than impressive experiences in the Cuban restaurants of Miami’s Little Havana District, but of course there is never a way of really knowing for sure. For the meal I had, I found their prices to be more than reasonable as I’ve generally experienced far less than I had here for far more. They also add a 17 ½% gratuity to their bill but as I found the service to be so faultless with the staff all properly attired, helpful and friendly, I was compelled to leave a little bit more. Overall, I found Out of Denmark to be a restaurant offering a true«dining experience,» a restaurant well worth a visit and a restaurant to which I will be returning.
