Sam’s Pizza

Very simple Italian food. But boy did it hit the spot for us after a long day!
They deliver to the residence inn which was so great. We got the ceased salad and pepperoni pizza. Both were yummy. Delivery was quick and food was fresh. That is all I ask for. If you are staying at a near by hotel or want home style dinner they are the place.

The food would taste much better if the service was prompt and the staff were friendly.

Food is not bad but attitude and service is the worst I have ever experienced anywhere. I sat at one table by myself and was told I had to move because a party of ten wanted my table. They could have gone anywhere as there were fifteen open tables.
The waiter was rude and it seems these were friends of his. I was not happy and suspect my food was tampered with. I walked out, never to return.

My son and I just left here, we’ve been here twice before and this place is super super good. I’ve had their eggplant parmesan, meat ball sub, we’ve ordered different pizzas each time and also their antipasto salad. ALLL very fresh, flavorful and seriously so good! It’s weird to me this place isn’t busier. People must not know what they’re missing out on. Customer service was also fast and friendly. So maybe they noticed the other reviews and worked on the complaints about not enough «friendliness». Although if the food is this good then to me it doesn’t matter either way. And I dig the retro look to the place, it’s a cool beachy pizza place. Must try!

Let’s just talk about the vibe… when you first walk in, It’s kind of like… What do you want? «be right with you!» He says.
«Ok» I reply. I wait and I wait, then it starts to feel like I’m on one of those TV shows that purposely try’s to make you lose it.
After about 20 minutes I got my 2 slices and a water. Nothing special about the food at all, the cheese slices were so hot it was hard to eat. He said he was going to throw it back into the oven, but I do believe he put it in the microwave. The the center was scolding hot and the crust was not crispy at all. Kind of like rubber.
It kind of felt like… «get out of my town you hippy.»
If you like negativity, you’ll feel right at home.
I will never return.

My husband and I had spent the morning hiking at Torrey Pines and were looking for a quick, satisfying lunch where our hot and sweaty appearance wouldn’t be a problem! Sam’s Pizza fit the bill. We got a medium peperoni pizza and two fountain sodas. The pizza was good and just right for the two of us. We sat on the patio where our appearance wouldn’t offend anyone :) The pizza was ready quickly and we filled our tummies.

The food here is simply terrible. The pizza is bland, doughy, undercooked. Salad dressing is thin and equally bland. Service is non existent. There is junk piled on the counter near the beer taps, cell phones, chargers, etc. When you ask for extra napkins the person behind the counter pulls them out of a dispenser making sure every napkin is touched by someone who just handled money. On top of that, it takes forever with just a few people in the restaurant to get your food. There seems to be a lot of people behind the counter standing around not doing anything. The food comes on trays similar to those of a high school cafeteria, the pizza is served on a circle of cardboard like a frozen pizza. Very appropriate given the taste of quality of what they are serving.

Poor service!!! The owner was rude!!! When I ordered 2 pizzas for take out he said the wait is about 15′ but 25′ after I checked in again his answer was «I didn’t call your name yet!» Then waited other 10′!

I seriously can’t even begin to understand the bad reviews from people. This place is beyond amazing. The sight is peaceful and breathtaking. I had the white pizza and pepperoni. It was delicious! Perfect place right off the beach. The service was outstanding. Still dumbfounded by some of the other comments. I don’t review a place unless it’s actually worth taking the time and effort to and this place deserves it. I will be back. SOON!

Delicious food, huge portions, nice prices and an amazing view from the patio. Nice place to have a nice quiet meal close to nature.

Not good. The food is bland, but is also cheap. You get what you pay for, I guess. The inside is one of the most dirty restaurants I’ve ever been in. Hasn’t been cleaned in years, clearly. Pizza lukewarm. Salad is… sub-​par. Only one guy working there. Service is good, though.

PROS: delicious pizza by the coast!
CONS: service is whatevers.
This is my favie pizza spot to hit up after hiking. just come here expecting bomb pizza, but be ready for super serious service. I ordered a medium pizza with pepperoni and jalapeño toppings. I’ve noticed on on both occasions I’ve been they seem to have blah service. Similar to the other reviews on here they might come off rude, but it doesn’t bother me don’t take it personal (:

This place has been open for a long time and the décor has probably never been updated, but that doesn’t really effect the quality of the food. The service wasn’t horrible but left something to be desired as well. But when it comes to the food, my friend and I were both content. He ordered a sandwich and I had a slice of pizza and we were both happy with our orders.

Pretty good pizza! I was skeptical at first but it came out better than expected.
The missing star was because of the décor. It needs a touch up to be more presentable for customers.
Great location right off of the water — Del Mar beach.

Is there a lower rating than a «0» star? If they were giving away free pizza I wouldn’t take it and give it to a homeless person. The guy that runs the place is the biggest a hole in Del Mar. I can’t wait for the place to close so somebody with some common sense and the ability to deliver a quality meal at a quality price takes it over.

Love the food and customer service! Its a great way to end my Monday!

I was busy at work today so I needed to order something that could be delivered. I found this place on grubHub. I ordered the Cheese Lasagna and Chicken Caesar. The lasagna was very tasty. I would order this again. The delivery speed was also OK.
However… The Chicken Caesar I didn’t touch. If I am paying $ 7.00 for a salad, it should have fresh grilled chicken. The chicken is definitely the pre-​cooked kind, which I think tastes terrible… Beware…

Not a review of the food, but rather the mindset. Came here because my young child needed to use the restroom. They told me it’s not working just as someone exited the restroom. I pointed this out. & they shrugged.
My brother asked and got the same story. He bought a beer & they handed him the key.
Not helping someone out when they’re dealing with a desperate child is pretty crappy. Have some consideration, guys.

Horrible food here. The only good thing is the location. In a warm night like the ones we are having these last days of August, it is really nice to be at the patio facing the sea. I ordered a pizza and salad. Salad was ok, tasted good and nicely marinated, but the lettuce used was inferior quality. Cucumbers were huge and saggy, obviously not the best of the market. Size was ok. Pizza was totally pre-​made and tasteless. Thanks for the beer that made everything more or less digestible. Absolutely no style. Staff do not look very happy. Will try to avoid unless super hungry coming back from the beach and nowhere to go.

A work colleague of mine described the pizza as «ball park» quality. I can’t say much better about the Greek Salad. The patio view isn’t bad, though. But at $ 8 for a slice and a salad there are plenty of other views I’d be willing to pay the same lunch fee for.
They had BPL soccer on the TV inside, so that’s something.
