I came here with a party of 8 last week. Our reservation was seated right away, and our waitress was AMAZING for the entire night. We started off with some salads and calamari, all of which were your standard dishes. Nothing out of this world spectacular, but the calamari was cooked very well. We also had sangria, which was good, but a bit too sweet for my taste. Entrees– I ordered the margarita pizza, which came out extremely thin and exactly how I enjoy it. I asked for it extra crispy, but did not come out as crispy as I would have liked. Other dishes ordered were the fra diavlo(which was too salty and had to be sent back… our waitress was quick to apologize and offer a replacement dish), chicken and broccoli(which was a bit too oily, especially since it sits in a bread bowl), the pasta Nicole(very good) and a few others that the group seemed to be happy with. We also ordered a side of meatballs which were pretty tasty. At the end of the meal we ordered two desserts, the tiramisu and chocolate cheesecake. The tiramisu was good, but my guess is that the cheesecake is not homemade. Although the food was nothing spectacular, I can’t stress how great our server was. The owner also comes around and greets each table.

Went here today with a group of 4 for brunch. We called ahead just in case there was a wait. We got there and we’re surprised to see half the place empty with most of the customers at the bar. We got seated, and we’re given waters and asked what we wanted(coffee) After getting coffees, we put our orders in. Two eggs benedicts and two of the boxing specials(heavyweight) we sat and chatted, and were doing fine. Got some water and coffee refills. But then we noticed that we were waiting a long time for food, we’re talking 45 mins for 4 plates. The waitress came by and told us that there was a big group before us, and that held up the kitchen, and were told our food was up next. Another 15 mins passed, and our food finally came out. The food was really good, but we were all very hungry and a bit annoyed that it had taken them so long to prepare food off of their one page brunch menu. So our first impression is probably our last. I can give them props for apologizing for the hold up, but they should learn how to handle big and small parties. From start to finish, we were there for 2 hours just for brunch. It is a shame too, their food was very delicious and well presented.

Great restaurant! The service seemed a little slow at first, but then the drinks, apps and food came out really quick and fresh. My salmon was cooked to perfection as it fell apart as soon as my fork touched it, and the white and red bean soup before it was delicious. Definitely recommend it and will be going back soon.

Hours aren’t great, and the place is super tiny. Even with a reservation you might be waiting around for a bit. They redid the bar area and that helped a lot with seating. The food is great bottom line. True classic Italian. Amazing chicken parm.

The food is bland and not at all anything to brag about. It’s mainly a place for old timers and their loyal to the establishment. Generous portions are a plus, but the pasta dishes had no flavor. Prices are also high for the quality of food. For the price, you’re better off going into Boston if you’re looking for good Italian food.

I went for breakfast on a Sunday morning with three friends. Typical breakfast menu but extremely good quality food. The service was outstanding also. Coffee refills without asking, tremendous staff and very clean and cozy place. The prices were very reasonable too. Definitely a great value. Parking, by the way, was easy. I will definitely become a regular there.

I easily just had the worst breakfast of my life. I need to preface all of this by saying our waitress, I believe her name was Kendra, was fantastic. She was positive, polite, energetic and attentive. In fact, there should be more servers like her. The manager was also very friendly and professional. I got an eggs Benedict with bacon. My mother also got a corned beef hash Benny. the bacon was burn(and I like crispy so it’s usually ok) but it was way to greasy and flavorless. My English muffins were way over toasted and dry whereas my mothers weren’t toasted enough. They also put very small dollops of hollandaise as a topper, I had to ask for a side. When you think to yourself«I can make this better at home» you’ve got a problem. In fairness, I’ve heard their Italian dinners are great and the portions are large. However, I won’t be returning.

Popped in this past Sunday while waiting on an oil change at the dealership. Overall, a solid place in the area for brunch. I tried their eggs florentine benedict and my daughter had chocolate chip pancakes. Both were prepared well and the pancakes were very good. My only wish was that they offer other variations like the crab cake or lobster eggs benedict. Service was nice albeit a little slow.

Great Italian food! Not sure if you remember the original Vinny Marinos, but same owner and same yummy food. I love the Rhode Island style Calamari, but it’s not for you if you don’t like spicy. I also like the Chicken Parmesan as it’s cooked to perfection and not to thin, not to thick… I guess that makes it just right

Although I’ve been here several times before, this is my first review of this restaurant. We have always enjoyed eating here and usually go with a couple of friends. The food is usually a 3 ½ to 4 star rating which is more than passable for the price point here. The service is about the same. The problem I have that should be shared happened during the meal we had tonight. We called for a 5:00PM reservation earlier in the day for 4 adults and 1 small child. When my wife and I sat down prior to our friends getting there we were informed that We would need to vacate the table by 6:30 due to another party needing that table. Our friends showed up a few minutes later and we ordered apps to get things rolling while they checked out which entrees to get. When our waitress came back to take entrée orders she re-informed us that we would need to be done soon. She then asked if we thought that we were not going to be through and gone by 6:30 that she’d like us to move to a bar table. So we moved. It took us 2 hours to finish our appetizers, entrees and desserts. We wouldn’t have made the 6:30 deadline. Other than one of the high chairs being a stool(which we swapped out ourselves) it was fine to sit there. It just strikes me as being very unprofessional on the front of the house management to try and squeeze a table in so soon after us or so soon before the 6:30. It puts the server at a disadvantage from the start. I was in the reataurant industry for 10 + years and never heard of anything like that. I’m not sure I will give them any more of my business. I’d probably feel different if the manager apologized or explained their position but this didn’t occur.

Came here Sunday night. Good points? Buzzy place with great atmosphere with punters clearly enjoying themselves. Service is good, if a little too quick. We’d had our food for 5 minutes when we were asked if we’d finished. The restaurant is accommodating; they substituted veggies for pasta. Portions are huge, if you like that sort of thing. Bad points? Our veal Marsala with mash and broccoli arrived very shortly(i.e. less than 10 mins) after we ordered it. Never a good sign. Food was lukewarm and tasteless. Veal and bacon was chewy and tough. In fact the meal was so disappointing that I started on the bread basket. Unfortunately that too was dry, hard and unappetizing. Hmm. I would like to give it 3 stars for the atmos, but the food was so poor that I can’t. If I’m in the area I would definitely stop in for a drink only.

Excellent place to ear. I go there about twice a month and the food is always served hot and is very fresh. I recommend that you visit this place.

We were a big family group(9) on a busy night but service worked and most liked their food. Really enjoyed the mussels as an app. Plenty of mussels with a slightly thick sauce that was tasty. They didn’t do a good job of explaining what«dish» sauce meant. Those that ordered veal with the side got nice veal scaloppini but the«dish» sauce had the veal cut up into the pasta and sauce. Ok, but not how I enjoy my veal. The meatballs are hugh, but good. My nephew didn’t want the meatball on his combo but they insisted on bringing it as a side and the rest of us all had some. Would be interested to try this place with a smaller party and see what we think. Parking was a challenge but it looks like across the street is the choice. Small neighborhood and a one way street that was confusing for our first time.

Hi there, I recently returned to Brickhouse for a meal with the family. Last time we had pizza, apps, beer. Outstanding. This time we had some of the main pasta dishes. They were good. But pricey. Entrees were around the 20 – 25 dollar range. In my opinion, this is too much for pasta and a few toppings. If these dishes were 15 – 20 dollars, I would have been impressed. Stick to the pizza, meatballs, and great atmosphere. Rob

My family and I went for breakfast this morning. Our waiter was very inattentive. My son had to go and get us silverware and napkins. My eggs Benedict were so bad I sent them back. The eggs were undercooked, the hollandaise sauce must of been made from a mix. My home fries were cold and tasteless. We had to go and look for our waiter to take our order!

I love the food at the Brick House but I wasn’t too thrilled tonight when I called from the road and made a reservation and when he said how many I said two adults and a baby. When we arrived there were two high chairs in the middle of the floor and so when we were seated I asked if we could have a high chair. She stated that a party who called and reserved days ago had two kids and they only have two high chairs. This was never mentioned to me over the phone. I have a very wirey 9 month old so I asked what I was supposed to do. It was 4:30. I asked when the other party was coming and she said 5. I said can I use it at least till they arrive? She said she didn’t think that would be a good idea. You know what would have been a good idea? Telling me all of this when I called on the phone and mentioned that I had a baby. I also think it is time for them to order a few more high chairs. Honestly who only has two? I was extremely dissapointed. It will be a long time before I go back. Anyone with kids I guess reserve the highchair if you go here or you may have to turn right back around like I did.

Best chicken parm around. I have never had a bad meal here. The staff is delightful the atmosphere warm. I would say this is the best Italian food in Dedham west Roxbury. Don’t fear the Parkin. You can park next door or across the street.

Two stars for the food, but five for the very good service. After reading nice reviews, we brought the family here only to be served sodden salads at $ 8 each, and heavily breaded veal parm, which, when I peeled off the coating, revealed a cardboard thin slice of meat of a color not usually associated with young calf. This was all slathered with a spicy red sauce and served with a pasta for another $ 21. Definitely not worth the cost. Maybe we all should have ordered something different. No wait! We did! And none of us liked what we got. Very popular place. Not sure we will return, though.

I went here with a big group of my girlfriends. Parking is pretty lousy. We had to dodge street traffic to get to the restaurant from across the street. They could not accommodate us at one table. We were spread out at 3 different tables(there were 12 of us) Firstly, the bread was very good. I got a chicken verdicchio dish with prosciutto and sun dried tomatoes. It was okay. Certainly edible. Perhaps I made a poor choice. I think I expected cheese to be on it, and there wasn’t any. So, I started with disappointment. Service was good. It drives me crazy when I am told that I only get one free refill on my soda. Cheap! I might give this place one more chance, but I wont be running back.

Ginormous portions! Guess more for family style instead of individual portions… We ordered the rice balls and our server told us it was small, and you’ll only be able to take 2 bites… when it came out, these little rice balls were hugh! More than 2 bites, it was filling… so don’t be fooled… but we then quickly realized all the food portions are huge, and yes, compared to the other menu options that was a small plate. I got the frutti di mare with everything-shrimp, calamari, clams, and mussels. MYGOD. Tons of mussels! The most mussels I’ve ever seen on a frutti di mare! I’m guessing this was suppose to feed 3 – 4 people… I ate half of it on my own. It was quite tasty, my only problem with the dish was that the homemade pasta was a bit sticky. It clumped and I probably would have prefer a store bought pasta. So wrong I know, but the mushiness of the homemade pasta was not appetizing. Service was nice. Vinny even came around to say hi and tell us his story with Mohammed Ali. Funny buff little Italian man. Reminds me of Jersey Shore.
