The food was sub par the chicken had decent flavor, but the wrap was burned so that was a huge turn off

Went in for weekend lunch. Service was spotty — no plates were cleared, we had to remind about the appetizer(hummus) which was not nearly as good as others we have had. Fattoush had so much salt on it I had to spit it into a napkin(can’t recall the last time I did that); inedible. No flavor in falafel other than it was fried in same oil as kibbeh, and there was a big WAD of parsley in the sandwich — which had no seasoning(no salt, ironically) — instead of bits of ingredients throughout the sandwich. Fries tasted freezer burned. Staff came into floor with a rolling bus cart full of dishes as opposed to carrying plates back to kitchen. It feels like they are playing restaurant and not running one. There are so many other good Middle Eastern restaurants in the area that it really isn’t worth going to this one. Not sure how it has 4 stars.

One diner liked his chicken shawarma. Lotsa and lotsa of fries. Others felt Fattoush extremely salty to inedible. Falafel not a lot of flavor. Not a remarkable lunch.

Their location has moved a couple blocks away. I had an excellent lunch here today. I ordered the lentil soup and hummus with beef. It is on the pricier end, but absolutely delicious. I also had the Arabic coffee, which I enjoyed. I will be back!

I had training near Amani’s recently and stopped by for lunch. It was a Thursday and the restaurant seemed peculiarly empty for a Thursday. However, I was hungry and the lack of guests was not going to slow me down. I had a medium fattoush which seemed more like a large. I also ordered the spicy potatoes and the portion was much bigger than expected as well. The potatoes were awesome. I could have just ordered one of those and been set for lunch. Or I should have read all the other reviews here that mentioned the large portions! Even though there weren’t many people, service was a bit slow and my water didn’t get refilled until it was empty. However the server was friendly and helpful. Overall, the food was very good, the service was so-so and the atmosphere was a little blah. I would definitely get carry out from here.

Service is marginal, but the food is great! I was a little worried after reading a couple of the reviews, but we tried it anyway, and it was really good. Very tasty Middle Eastern food, and the portions were huge. We ordered the Amani’s platter and the Vegetarian platter for four of us. It could easily have fed six. Can’t wait to eat the leftovers!

OK food, was not great . They doubled the price on two items. They said the menu was wrong, but all the menus had the price the waiter took, not the higher price charged. It was fixed, but Never have I seen two overcharges on the same bill. Not recommended, sorry.

Tried Amani’s for the first time today. I love middle eastern food and they did not disappoint! I ordered carry out by phone and it was ready when I got there about 10 – 12 minutes later. There was plenty of parking and it’s in a great location. The inside of the restaurant was very cute and looked clean. I was greeted by a very friendly woman who knew exactly what I came to pick up(I assume she is the same woman who took my order). She repeated my order back to me to ensure everything was correct, which I thought was very nice. They are reasonably priced compared to other middle eastern restaurants in the area. Now for the most important part: food! Chicken Shawarma sandwich was excellent! Just the right amount of pickles and garlic sauce and the chicken was cooked beautifully. We also had the fried kibbeh which were very generous portions and were delicious, seasoned and cooked beautifully. I also ordered the hummus and falafel plate. I haven’t had too many falafel, but I was never a huge fan of it. I did try it this time and it was pretty good. I was so stuffed I didn’t have room for the hummus so I’m saving it for later. I look forward to eating there again in the near future!

While I hate to give bad reviews this just had to be done after my experience here. It was, simply put, a disaster. We came in as a group of 7 on a weekday. I called in ahead of time to make sure we could get a table and also let them know to expect a bigger than usual party. I mentioned that we would probably be in by 7:30 pm. They seemed accommodating enough over the phone. When we got in the restaurant, we were seated at a big table to accommodate the size of our party. Everything fell apart after this point. When it was time to place our orders, we were told they were out of fries and other things people in our group wanted to order. Apparently, whoever I spoke to over the phone neglected to mention that the restaurant closes at 8:30(maybe it was 8, I can’t remember). I was under the impression Amani’s closes at 10/10:30. So we ended up dining at a place that was closing just a little after we got there. Service was ridiculously slow, other staffers seemed too caught up in their own conversations to care about our group that hadn’t even received drinks after we places our orders. The hummus and«pita bread» wasn’t anything to brag about. The«pita bread» was in generic plastic wrapping so it was cold and definitely not fresh. When we finally got our orders after waiting for about 45 minutes to an hour, everything was mixed up. It was so bad that it was comical. Someone at our table didn’t receive her order, another few people got items like a salad or lentil soup that they didn’t order. Someone got extra rice when they didn’t even mention it. Like I said, comical. We were raised right so there was no need to cause a scene. We just laughed over it, because aside from the fact that we were starving, it was pretty damn funny. So we just ate. Food was mediocre at best. The slow service, subpar food, and mixed up bills really deserve a 1 star rating, if not lower. However, the comical aspect just boosted them to a 2-star rating. I’d recommend you save your money and go somewhere else. It was a horrible disappointment, but at least I got a good laugh that night.

So we just sort of happened on to Amani’s on a whim. We are from out of town, and the restaurant we had planned to go to was closed temporarily for remodeling. So I opened up Unilocal on my phone and among the places suggested in the area was Amani’s. It had some very good reviews and we love Mediterranean food, so we decided to give it a shot. It has a nice atmosphere, it’s clean, well kept, the staff were friendly, and we were seated right away with pita and pickled goodies to munch on. The menu has the usual med fair, and I decided to get the kabob sampler. All of it was fantastic. The meat was cooked just right, wasn’t dried out at all, wonderful charred flavor, and the yogurt sauce went perfect with all of it. The babaganoush is the best I’ve ever had, hands down without a doubt. They have developed an intense smoky flavor I’ve never had in a babaganoush before. Next time we are in Detroit we will definitely visit again, it was a great find, and one of the reasons we love using Unilocal.Babaganoush FTW!

Went in on my lunch break to place a carryout order. I came upon two women in the back who helped other customers and never once acknowledged me, one left to help seated customers, the other then went on her cell phone in the back. Left after never being helped for 5 minutes. Never returning to this restaurant. My business was not valued.

This place is awesome! First visit was for breakfast and it was some of the best, and most unique, I’ve ever tried. The makanek and soujok plate was a spicy sausage dish with eggs, very tasty. The ful dish, which is a tasty bean was amazing. The real winner was this amazing, fluffy bean dish that had these crunchy chips in it with olive oil on top — I WISH I could remember the name(will update with it soon). Dinner — Had our company holiday party here and it was truly an experience. Started off with some of the lentil soup because we were starving and it was a perfect intro. Ordered up one of their platters and it was HUGE! Falafel(not that good) and Hummus(absolutely amazingly delicious) to start off — we were already almost full. And then came the meat, the piles of delicious, succulent and juicy meat. There was chicken shwarma and chicken kebab and lamb kebab and beef something, I don’t even know — just tasty wholesome goodness. Was shocked and amazed when the bill for the three of us came and it was under $ 50.00 — Can’t beat that, no how no way. We still managed to hit up Shatila after for some incredible tasty treats to top of the night.

Stopped here with a gang of people after an event. I’m not a huge fan of Arabic food so my wealth of knowledge what I was eating isn’t that good. So let me describe it. We were served on a bunch of large platters, a ton of food. I had a couple of chicken choices. One I liked as I ate most of it from the plate with some rice and pita. The second, not so much. There was some decent tasting beef and lamb stuff. That was okay. I’ll stick with the chicken. I do know what hummus is, theirs is not bad. The cleanliness could be better. The service was good and fast and friendly.

This rating gets a HUGE boost for their hummus. The rave you see here on Unilocal lives up to its hype. It comes in a plate(obviously) and is large enough for three-ish people to share. It’s like $ 9. Definitely worth it. They also have pita bread and pickled radish(?) complimentary to your dining. It’s nice, but the problem with that is that the pita bread isn’t fresh when it’s served, and you could definitely tell. I ordered the shish tawook($ 10) which came with two skewers of 4 pieces of chicken, pita bread, and your choice of fries or rice. I chose the fries. The shish tawook was okay. Maybe a 3 star quality. It was tasty, but really dry. I had to eat it with some hummus to help with the dryness. The fries were good, but undersalted. I also got lentil soup with this order. It was delicious. Not too thick, and very flavorful. You could definitely taste the lentil! Overall, I’d come here for the hummus. Special shoutout to the lentil soup too! Maybe try a different main dish next time.

It’s probably not fair to judge a restaurant by its takeout, because by the time you get your food back home, or in my case, to a hotel, some steaming has gone on, so that things which were once crisp are no longer, flavors which were meant to be separate have mingled, and items which were hot or cold have met somewhere in the middle. I wish I could have judged Amani’s on a meal eaten immediately in the restaurant, but … it just wasn’t in the schedule. That being said, I was very satisfied with the sandwiches we ordered, even though I probably didn’t experience them at their best. I had two pita sandwiches, primarily for the ease of transporting and eating after I got where I was going — a Falafel and a Shish Kabob. They were both were tasty, filling, and made for a satisfying lunch. I’d have much preferred to have had a leisurely lunch and an entrée, but I just didn’t have the time for it. Based on how much I enjoyed what I did get to eat under less than ideal circumstances, though, I’m fairly confident I’d have enjoyed whatever I ordered. I hope that someday I’ll be able to give the food here a fairer test. But in the meantime, just because I didn’t get choose from a wider menu, don’t hesitate to eat here.

I really enjoyed my vegetarian sampler here. You get a lot of delicious exotic food for a reasonable price. The atmosphere is nice as well — clean, with murals and crazy dishware up on the walls, and overall comfortable. They make their own fresh lemonade as well, I highly recommend it!

I ordered the appetizer of hommos and chicken shawarma. (Note: The spelling is from the menu.) This turned out to be enough for three meals. Seriously! It was huge. Served up with pickled turnips and a superb pita flatbread. Both were tasty and very flavourful. Let me not forget about the fresh squeezed carrot juice. And this is an item that can make or break a place for me. Amani’s passed with flying colors. The restaurant itself was bright, cheery and sparkling clean. Even the restroom. Waitstaff was very friendly and accomodating. Plentiful parking with easy in and out ability. No disappointments here.

I happened into Amani because I needed to run an errand in Dearborn and found it based on my Unilocal Blackberry app. The reviews were all I needed so we stopped. Clue #1 it was going to be stellar: the menu is in Arabic and English. We chose the platter for 2 and tried to order some falafel as it wasn’t listed in the platter description. Thankfully, our waitress(who was awesome) advised that we not order extra food. Apparently the platter includes falafel, but it’s only listed on the Arabic side of the menu. We received our fatoush — very good — and our giant plate of hummus, also amazing. Probably some of the best hummus I’ve ever had. All we kept seeing were the GIANT plates of food coming out of the kitchen… …and then it arrived. HUGE plate of food including two chicken breasts, beef kabob, chicken kabob, two lamb kabobs, beef shwarma, and a heaping pile of amazing rice. Oh… and the 8 falafel that arrived on a separate plate. All of it was delicious! AND we had more than enough to take home for lunch! Definitely will be back again.

Amazing lunch bargain! Huge salad + chicken schwarma + a side of hummus and a diet coke for less than 10 bucks. Hot damn! And the food is quite good. The salad was very fresh, tossed with an olive oil and lemon juice dressing and spices and chock full of cucumber, lettuce, tomato – basically fattoush without the pita chips. It was such a huge serving that I couldn’t even finish the whole thing since I wanted to scarf down my schwarma and hummus as well. The hummus was smooth and covered with a ton of flavorful paprika. This may be my favorite hummus in all of Dearborn. Just sayin’. The schwarma was fab, the chicken was nice and juicy, not too greasy but just enough to get a little bit of that dripping into the paper wrapping. The garlic sauce could have been a little more intense but those of you who have read my reviews before know that it takes A LOT of garlic for me to be truly satisfied. My waiter was so very friendly and sweet. He just had a lovely warmth about him that really helped since the day outside was cold and rainy. Really perked me up! Also? The restaurant falls into the free wifi zone in Dearborn so I was able to get a little bit of work done as I ate which was really nice. The space is roomy and clean, lovely Middle Eastern décor and filled with a lot of families with happy kids munching on french fries and pita. I just felt GOOD in here. Looking forward to my next visit already!
